"Finally they will get the swirlies!" Then Krell grabs an imperial marshal by the throat and jams his face into a swirling pot filled with screaming ghosts
I like to think that Krell Saw through the bullshit of chaos after being resurrected the first time and just said “fuck it” and went all in on the undead thing.
I love Warhammer Fantasy undead factions, specifically because of how independent they are. Sure, Nagash technically holds dominion over them, but everyone hates his guts and he isn't around to tell them what to do for most of the setting. Sure most of them are still assholes, but they're self made assholes. They're godless heathens in a setting where everyone worships some god or another, and that really makes them stand out.
In earliest versions of Fantasy, Heinrich also had a sidekick, who was a gift from his brother, Adolf Kemmler, who was also a talented necromancer, although sadly he was rejected from the Necromancy School and thus took up politics instead, the gift being a revived turkey named Joseph Gobbles.
It's actually probably not based on what you think it is- I thought it was at first too. But I looked it up and apparently he's named after Heinrich Kramer, a German inquisitor who wrote treatises on witchcraft and demonology (they both have "dark" libraries).
At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if PNW decided to throw a video called “How to Fix my Hatred for the Bretonnians” and it either being a completely reworked fashion or it being 10 seconds with him saying “The End Times fixed it already for me”
Tancred was my favorite grail knight shame what they did to him in end times. Never even got like a whole book of the green knight and abborash fighting which would have been sick
Augustine Mouchot (1825-1912) was a French Engineer who developed the first steam power system. In short it involve a bunch of mirrors arranged in a semi-circle that was pointed at a sun which concentrated sunlight on a boiler in the center of the assembly like the Stamen of a flower that powered a steam engine. The French government sponsored this venture between the 1850s to 70s. It worked (and the basic principle of it is used today in Solar Thermal power) but in the 19th century it was prohibitively expensive.
the Nagash mod you mentioned is so good, it perfectly encapsulates the fact that when you are playing campaign you care about enjoyment and not unit to unit balancing while still being challenging enough to be fun.
Warhammer fantasy has a lot of fun and interesting characters. Kemmler had Gargoyles, called Simulacra. Which he learned how to make by copying the Tomb Kings. I agree, TWW1 armies need some DLC/updating.
Gotta admit, I misread his name several times. It’s very similar to a particular war criminal. Games Workshop what is wrong with your Fantasy naming conventions? 😂
@@SB-129 that's definitely a way for GW to save face. No way anyone said the name "Heinrich Kemmler" out loud and didn't realize exactly what it sounds like. Even if they originally got the idea from Kramer, they knew what they were doing naming him that. It's like naming someone "Adolf Fitler" and claiming it's a reference to Adolf Fritz.
Might be just me, but I kinda liked this idea I had of Kemmler and Krell being a sort of father son duo. Like Kemmler was an ancient shaman in the time of Sigmar, and he had been trying to get his son Krell to become the leader of their tribe, only for Sigmar to beat Krell. Then Kemmler allies with Nagash for vengeance, Nagash resurrects his son, and when Nagash is defeated, Kemmler and Krell slink into the darkness to plot their revenge on the Empire of Sigmar. It's kind of redundant what with Azazel filling the role of a contemporary of Sigmart trying to destroy him, but the idea of a necromancer father raising his son back from the dead is a sort of dark familial bond that could work.
A makaison and thanquol campaign would be freaking awesome, both could be horde based factions whose mechanics work with the rest of their faction somehow, like doing mercenary contracts and fulfilling missions all over the world instead of conquering land, maybe you could even contract them as a player as well to attack someone or do stuff to other factions, who knows. I'd totally love to play a faction that doesn't necessarily need to conquer but rather does it's own thing across the world instead.
Thanquol could be a unique Skaven "Semi-horde", where he can construct under cities (or usurp control of existing under cities) while not being able to own real settlements, while Makaison could have some sort of "fueling station" for his Thunderbarge in any settlement owned by an allied faction, that works kind of like a Vampire Coast Cove while not owning real settlements. At least, that's how I would make the two horde based.
I feel like someone here should try to make a 3-D printed updated version of him his model so that they can at least run him as a generic sorcerer unit for age of sigmar. Honestly, he seems like both a threat and a silly goofy wizard man, and I love him
He was listed as a generic necromancer until like a month before Soul Blight Gravelords got released and Gdubs took his, Krells, and the models that were for the original Von Carsteins away
Just run him as a generic sorcerer. Seems pretty simple to just tell whoever you're playing with. It's a game you could play with cardboard bases that have the unit name written on them. Games Workshop isn't going to burn your house down if you don't use their minis. Wizards of the Coast learned that when Hasbro decided 4th ed DnD was going to be a skirmish wargame to try and sell more plastic.

It's time like this I think settings of a certain age need to become legally folklore so big corporations vaguely related to the creatives who came up with them cand mess them up this badly
Hey dude. I know I probably shouldn't be doing this, but it's been on my radar for so long that I can no longer resist the urge. Why not do a Do or Don't on Konflikt '47? It's a unique sci-fi WW2 setting with stompy robots, German Zombies, werewolves, and bat-human hybrids, and it's based off of the ruleset for the already existing Tabletop game Bolt Action. Sure, it can be a bit pricy at times, but I absolutely LOVE IT.

Josef Bugman is older, Apr 1984. I believe Golgfag was on his 2nd mini when Kemmler got his first. A number of regiments of renown were released in first and second edition with named characters leading them.
Krell in the End Times was a cool pile of bones but Arkhan had an undead cat as a pet he took care of, im siding with the cat, and Kemmler was a funny demented necronancer that wasted time turning bretonnian bodies into a spider like mount made of body parts and laughing like a senile grandpa. 10/10 would enjoy bretonnian suffering again
