"It's always nice to find excuses when we don't have the right port." In Germany we have a colloquial compound verb for jobs like this "verschlimmbessern" (kind of combining "verschlimmern" (making it worse, i.e. dodgy) and "verbessern" (making it better)). Didn't expect to be able to use that here.👍
Good job sorin, every repair job shows a degree of witness repair, even more so on minature component repair, you replace like for like whenever possible, a slight discrepence in part replacement size for size or the functionality has to be taken into consideration, that the nature of the repair the end result is a working piece of equipment!!!
HDMI or USB, especially C can be a nightmare so definitely a win. Screen connections or Mac connection strips always a nightmare, come up short usually. Love your vids and some great solutions.
I have a mini pc that won't power on. I checked the power mosfets and have 12v on the input but 0v output. I am thinking it is either the mosfets or the circuit chip that turn them on . Any advice ?
what about docking station Sorin? does they work as well on this type c port? i had a case when the usb c port was replaced, it was charging fine but no being able to recognize the docking station anymore.
G,day from Sydney Australia. Really like that water boil indicator (short) on the USB C port. Any reason to use hot melt glue under and both sides of USB port? 💫✍️🤔
I guess to give it additional strength just in case there's excessive force (like someone dropping the laptop off a table, getting stuck on the cable, etc.). The ground pins were quite massive already, but they obviously wanted to be sure.
i see nothing wrong with that port does the same thing and why would you order a new port take up so much time and money for something thats still a good fix on a cheap laptop.
Hi Guraba, what is for u the rigth temperature for this kind of port... and yes Sorin test only the charging not all the pin.. can u suggest a valid tester to test avery pin? bye francesco
This man makes board repair so pleasurable to watch…it’s quick, dodgy and brilliant all at once!
It's always a pleasure to see you when you come back from work! THANKS !

We have to amend English grammar :
The ____(noun) , it is working!
Sorin, he is gold
Your Usb-C power meters must have detected the short and gone into protection mode, that is why they didn't give a reading when you plugged them in.
Thanks for all your help to understand problem solving circuits.
Good job sir... I'll like you to do a full video on how the type C and PD controller works on the latest systems.... Thanks
Great idea for a video I am expecting to see from Sorin. Ty.
Piekna robota!!!
Do not blow on the joint, as this will cause the solder to cool too rapidly, leading to crystallization and embrittlement
Good job mate 👏
Thanks Sorin
Very good job!

Excelent aport 👌

Anyone knows what temp is used at 16:50 when he is applying more solder to the legs?
no shorted port .no short
👌👍👌👍
I would have taken more time to clean that dirty port when the board was out. Then check with microscope and re-test.
Pls im in Nigeria pls can I get USB-C Chip ics?
No original USB port, no shorted port.
i dont understand why your blowing it with your mouth , so what happen to that wirless air blower that used before ?
It disappeared a few videos back.
Rosin is g'd ...

i believe its under 150 bucks to buy another one used
usb-c is like every other usb implementation in that it is CRAP. they ALWAYS fail. ALWAYS.
its called "Better than factory!"
they are 24 pins you have to check every connection and 350 °C its to much for this C type port. You can see this port is useles after plastic melted.
