Looks like there are 3 of those circuits all identical for each phase of VCCCPUCORE. As all 3 are basically connected to the same VCC, VIN20, etc then all 3 probably are bad? Possibly the driver chip that sends PWM1/SV_ADDR, PWM2/VBOOT and PWM3/ICCMAX too.
Sometimes all the will in the way doesn`t solve the problem, you are beaten by the odds, replacing parts is a gamble, if there is more damage which shows up further down the line, then when do you stop! an 1 hour later maybe 2, the end results is the same, and maybe not really be able to guarantee it will last.
These notebooks are not cheap. My W520 cost me 2200 bucks plus tax. It still working. Mobo is around 150. So I think you can ask from your customer price of mobo + 50 for install.
Of course it could... be repaired but it would be costly and likely a rabbit hole as what else got "tweaked" in that voltage spike? Those old machines are collectible so later , you could work on it gradually to working again or just get another board. Even the Tank restoration channel uses a CAT diesel to replace the impossible to get german engines some times but it will run and entertain the crowds with frankly a better more reliable engine so the laptop could be made to work and people can enjoy a look at the past. For a LT business, you cant hang around and waste time.
there is motherboard on Ebay for 59 Pounds, working but bios password and type c port issues so in case the customer really wants to save this laptop, it could be good solution. Its an i5 11 gen so not sure if'd fit this one.
The think-pads of this generation seem to be dying around this time, had to replace my motherboard too because of some fault with my GPU. They definitely don’t make them like they use to, read only that the replacement motherboard only lasted for 6 months also before they go too. They definitely don’t want consumers keeping these devices for a long time maybe some sort of built in sabotage shenanigans. Got replaced under Lenovo premier support care so god knows which donor machine they source these parts from, probably some machines they got sent in for recycling. They do wrap it up all professional and ship the replacement in a new box just to fool you I worked in the business trust me I know lol
Actually if i saw JUST ONE DOTE OF A BURN LAYER I WILL STOP *EVEN IF IT WAS MY OWN LAPTOP, THEN I'LL QUICKLY SEND IT TO YOU* I'M NOT BLUFFING SIR Thank you for everything
What would I do? Nothing, because there is no way to find a working CPU. Dead CPU is a dead CPU. Unless manufacturers start make laptops with socketed CPUs (once again), there is no way of fixing faults like that.
We really need a business that buys CPU trays from an Intel distributor (like ELKO) and sell it at retail... Not just in order to fix laptops, but mainly to diminish the amount of useless trash in our world.
F***king soldered CPUs we should damn the day the manufacturers chose to do that, you can look at the half full glass and see a lot of boards for spares, i only see a lot of e-waste with no regards for the consumer... If this cpu was socketed the customer would have a working pc again. Typing this from my 2011 ASUS laptop...
Hello Sorin! Apart from the damaged processor, the MP2979 controller is programmable. You need an MPS programmer and dump from an identical board.
Oh lol, good to know, thank you
we change MPS with same board not work ....
I really love your "kinda" humor. Feel huged, mate....
I'd ask the owner to leave the laptop for spares... and sending the capacitor back as a fully working component
@@jackcheefer 🤣
came here for the "lool" and " we have picuree"
received only " that sucks" " proper sucks"
Sorry Sorin! You did everything to make your customer happy! THANKS !
And we have picture!.....hmmm...not this time. But learnt a lot. Always fan of you sir. Thanks and soon we'll have picture and a pizza😊
a motherboard replacement?
I can't see why not.
R.I.P Pizza!!!🍕
I think he missed adding that capacitor the customer sent. Had he done that, "loool, look we have picture!".... ;)

You did all that you can do and got to what the fault was. Make sure you give that capacitor a good home though. 😁
Good job mate 👏
I would give it back to the customer with my condolences.
Nice video
Yes , parts arent that fast to remove, LOL, Thanks for another well informed and entertaining video Sorin!, Happy Halloween!
Don't forget to solder the capacitor back on the board :))))
😂
Proper calibrated wire has enough capacitance
thats in another video
next video, maybe
Other than replacing the motherboard there is little else you can do with this one.
There must have been a chain reaction that also took out the CPU.
I have something similar in the old HP laptop, got a used mobo for 25 bucks, replaced it myself, easy pizza.
nice donor for ec chip..
Beep morse code from ec chip says `donor me please` :)
That sucks Sorin unlucky
Sending a cap in was definitely bad karma on this one lol
"It's dead Jim!"

Nice! 😎
I'm new here not sure what Sorin going to do with capacitor 🤔 i saw video before...he connected it with wire if I'm not mistaken , correct me plz !
better safe then Sorryn 😅
It is heat or poured
You did the best you could, Sorin. Buying a CPU would be a huge gamble you probably wouldn't win. The customer will need to get a replacment board.

Cant you get replacement board ??????
Thats what happens when you remove capacitors on the motherboard 🤣 Things get blow up, welded, cpu burned

iT LOOKS LIKE IF SOMEONE CONNECTED AN USB KILLER TO THAT LAPTOP 😁😁... NO PIZZA TODAY....
Hello🤝👋👋👋👋
can you get a old motherboard for it?
A good preparation is the half repair. Therefore, he sent the capacitor. 😂
NO PIZZA.

A bit of freeze spray on the cpu can determine a holy Mary rescue attempt.
When you have several capacitors on IC is to stop it from starving for power and stuttering...
Motherboard replacement or parts machine only option
the cpu is taking almost 5amps and you can barely see the hot spot on the thermal camera
new board
Hello please help! Your device is booting in manufacturing mode! I have been struggling days, can not fix it.on hp pro book 455 G5
It's ok. Don't feel bad. Buy a used laptop from marketplace 50£ done.
if it is viable option I would offer a board replacement and we can get old board for spares for free xD
What would I do? Nothing, because there is no way to find a working CPU. Dead CPU is a dead CPU. Unless manufacturers start make laptops with socketed CPUs (once again), there is no way of fixing faults like that.
Deep freeze pizza ! 😜
Beennn ce nais pas Toujours Réparable!! le mieux c'est de changer la carte!!!
New motherboard 😭
change the board!
nice video, try to buy another motherboard
Change CPU?
you change it
Win some - loose some, into the donor board pile. Not everything is repairable, rare but we all know it happens. Frustrating for sure.
We really need a business that buys CPU trays from an Intel distributor (like ELKO) and sell it at retail...
Not just in order to fix laptops, but mainly to diminish the amount of useless trash in our world.
If the customer was trolling you, that was Donald Trump level trolling 🤣🤣

Other board.
One other mother bord
How much used motherboard? Maybe buy broken motherboard cheap and try to repair? In this case indeed only motherboard replacement is an option.
No CPU, no shorted CPU ?
Too bad about the cpu.
replace the motherboard thats all you can do !
In your country do you have right to repair law, where by spares, datasheets, schematics, are provided my manufacturer
Just tell the customer to buy new or used motherboard
capacitor enemy
why not replace the cpu just for the video.
if you pay for the cpu and work, sure....have fun.
@orange11squares yes I wanna do it myself.
It seems like copy and paste from one place to the other, so weird
Buy another mobo
bruhhh chinapad
Parts, scrap pile
MOST of burned layers is coming from acer and lonovo customers must not buy their product
Nice video
