Nice one, Sorin! Two things: 1) Your advices for batteries are even valid for cars. On the manual of my wife's Volto EX30, they ask for, from time to time, allowing the battery to discharge in order for the internal computer to collect data to correctly calculate the battery charge (and autonomy, of course). 2) *Please*, never use a blade forcing the cutting face in the direction of your hands, like you did at 12:55. It's very easy to get injured like that! Rotate the laptop and cut it in the direction away from you :)
Thank you for the videos Sorin! After watching you I had the confidence to try and repair a broken MacBook and scored myself one for 50 euro! Now I have a working one

Hi sorin, i think it is safer to unmount the battery before opening it just in case of something wrong to the battery, you can throw the battery out and save the device
good day mr. Sorin, I'm a fan from Philippines, back then i used to have a device that similarly had a fault with one of your video, that's why i discovered your videos on youtube. and it happened before pandemic. i started to do electronics as a hubby and now it became my source of living. always watching your videos on my free time. mr. Sorin, I'm just wondering if you are using that micro scope from temu? it would be a very useful tool in my work bench😅, I can't really afford that much for now 😅 earning just enough for daily experience
Angle of thinking was limited to some technician,as they once swap the faulty with known good component and the result remained the same, they didn't think that the component (battery) faulty
Before the device becomes obsolete due to new battery technology, I recommend the owner starts to make it open to more people to buy at a reasonable price for hobbyists.
Thank you very much for your videos. I watched a lot of your videos and I learned many useful things. Now I want your help. I see the message "No bootable image found." in my laptop. And I can't use even my keyboard and touchpad. What can I do now? Please help me.
I have two questions. Q1 = I have a patient, an Asus laptop, its battery is no longer working and is removed already, so it only runs on its charger, which is also an Asus, and has a voltage output of 19.32v. Now I want to run it on our solar power system, so I cut the wire of that Asus charger so that the plug remains the same, then I connected the wire to my boost converter, dialed to exact 19.32v volts, the same as the Asus charger's voltage output. But it didn't work. The charger cable only has two lines, one for ground and the other one is the positive line. I didn't see any extra line(third line) that can be used by the charger and the laptop for them to communicate and be able to recognize if what is plugged in a dedicated Asus charger or not. I am confused why it didn't work with the boost converter, since that boost converter is 300 watts, enough to provide power, and it is also the same boost converter that I use with my other laptop like my Acer Aspire, which works perfectly fine. Q2 = The same asus laptop turns on automatically whenever I plug the charger. But the weird thing is, every time I plug the charger, the laptop turns on for a very short moment, enough to display the Asus logo, then shuts down again before the windows opens then restarts automatically and then it is finally open. I hope you shed some light on this issue and I really appreciate your help and your amazing tutorials. God bless.
14:34 never saw such fuse before. but base from his explanation. it is "self destruct" fuse. if the BMS circuit (Battery Management system) figured that the battery is in bad health. it will power the heater below it and melt the fuse. This is perfect if it does the job right. specially on EV cars and motorcycles. but in this video, like he said, the BMS made a bad call. coz it has only 86 cycle. The last time I heard such kind of system that feels like a planed obsolescence are on the printer cartridge. it record how much print you do. and if it reach a certain print it stop printing and ask that you change cartridge 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@ just seems strange in this case… fuse blew for a reason, now we’re taking out that safety? Though he said something about it’s a heated fuse and it melts the solder?
hi dear teacher I like very to repair computer and power supply but I don't know from where can I start .... please guide me so thanks I wish to be always healthy.
Its all about R&D efforts whats put in there.. if you transfer that time into money its super cheap. I know your feeling like for decades i looked why car tuning companies asking so much money for the tune of ECM. After i did all work myself fully which took solid year work.. that money you end up paying for ready one is fart in desert.
not only that but the person behind is a gatekeeping dummy, his practices are very bad, almost like an evil megacorp, will not support this even if it was cheap.

never seen a fuse like that. it feels like something that can be abused for planed obsolescence like how they do on ink cartridge asking you to change if it reach certain number of prints. but I can understand the need for such self destruct fuse on batteries coz lithium batteries are dangerous. specially on EV's I hope they don't apply this shit on Vacuum robots too and the likes.
Yes the same thing applies to vacuum cleaners etc. Dyson is known for that.... setting flag in microcontroller eeprom and after that no charging. Changing the cells makes no difference, still non-working. To re-set it requires jtag programmer. For Dyson it is easier to buy chininse copy battery. For the price of original battery I can buy 4x copies and they last at least as long (4 years). If it fails in 4 years just buy another one for 25-30 bucks vs $100 or more for original.
Do you have experience? He has videos where if there has been something the fuse has melted again so its in factory condition still with this repair. Here is honestly nothing dodgy going on when you know whats happening here on video.

is something wrong that cause the fuse burn ???

still condition of the battery is poor, 86 cycles doesn't matter if the battery is made from cheap poor quality lithium
So next time maybe the power managment chip tries to fry the fuse and it might fail!!!? what will happen to the battery burn or blow up ?
