You keep referring to the fish as a he ? How can you tell the sex of the salmon in the water ? Do salmon roll like a porpoise ? Does a porpoise roll like a salmon ? In my experience when newfoundlanders hook a fish small grille they just haul them in ! Especially in low water like this video. Nice lodge nice river best to use a local company to promote it!
Worst possible job of netting a fish in shallow water. NEVER stab at it like that. Place the net down first and then coax the fish into it. Secondly, buddy with the rod should've made his way back to shore long before he started playing head-games with his little fish (as if it was a 20-pounder). If playing a fish takes you more than a minute per pound then you're just a tourist. [at least, that was The Sportsman's Rule Of The River in the days before youtube; all bets are off now.]
Those were pretty big grilse and I don't think that I played any one of them more the 4 or 5 minutes. Thanks for your feedback though and I'll be sure to check out, 'The Sportsman's Rule Of The River'. Cheers.
Fun episode! My wife and I really enjoyed.
Great show under challenging conditions Rob!
The Salmon always have a chance to escape. Great video, come on summer!

Great trip, really enjoyed this one, brought back memories of salmon fishing in NS in my younger days!
Glad you enjoyed it
That's were I cut my teeth aswell! There is nothing like them, eh.
As a Newfoundland salmon fisherman who has yet to experience Gander river I must say it looks absolutely beautiful nice video
How is fishing to There do you get salmon?
Beautiful place for fishing😍
It really is!
Why do you always fish downstream? What’s wrong with upstream and keeping a tight line?
The blue charm works every time
Spot luarbiasa mantap, 👍 from indonesia
How did you tie your fly on. It looks like you have a loop there
Yes Tom. It's the "No slip loop knot". I use it for all sub surface flies as I feel it provides better, less restricted action.
Beatiful, have u ever been to Iceland?
I have not been, but it is on my bucket list.
First I've ever seen a loop knot on a salmon fly
I use loop knots on all of my sub surface flies, Matt.

Hi Rick. Not sure what your point is here?

In my experience there are a lot of sub average people on the internet.
What were you trying to gibberish your way through and say?

I've always liked and watched your films. But I wont if you choose blasphemy !
What can I say? I'm the son of a sailor. I will do my best to watch my language in the future. No promises though.
