Eric Clapton has stated that he doesn't want to sing this song anymore. He wrote it to deal with the loss of his song, but all fans demand to hear it all the time. For him it is now torture. He's forced to relive the worst moment in his life over and over again. So, he said that he will not song it again and asks his fans to not request it.

I love Abdul so much. He has had so much grief and pain in his own life -- maybe that's why he is so sensitive. Not only in this episode, but in every one that I've seen. He has a gift for reading people and their true feelings. I could listen to him for hours. I would love to hear him tell stories from his life, and tell about how he gained the wisdom that he obviously has. I believe I heard him say on another episode that he is very ill. I hope he'll get better,

01:02 -- He is praying that he and his deceased child will recognize each other in heaven, and asking that the Lord will let her know that her daddy is there now for her, and make sure they find each other, once he arrives there too.
Before even hearing the song, he already knows exactly how it feels.
Of course, he always is the member of the group who interprets the songs correctly before even hearing the translated lyrics, but this time he knows even before watching the video, because he has lived through it himself. 😢

almost wish I hadn't watched this reaction but same for me. My mothers death in 2000 at end of March, brought it right back. In 2015 I had seen a few voluntary helpers, all hail Salvation Army, to talk over it as I still had the grief/guilt still after 15 years. Then today 8th april 2024 it surfaced again in full force. Once you grieve its should be more of a happy memory, but a song/film/TV show with same sentiments is a trigger for me, but the release from a good cry gives you are buffer to it not coming back for a while.
So for anyone that has just lost someone, once you accept you need help, talk to someone. In my case I had tried psychiatric nurses and eventually 2 helpers from Salvation army gave me my best help. If you don't get help with one, try another professional or mental health volunteer, but talk to someone once you accept you Need help.

My wife and I were blessed to know the answer to his pain. Our son died at the age of 2 years and 3 months from leukemia. Two nights after he passed away, we were sleepless and in pain, very late at night we were in bed and both heard music coming from the living room. We both got up and on top of a cabinet was a book of his, the kind of book that played music only when it was opened. The book was closed. We both felt our son’s presence at that moment and we knew he was telling us he was fine and not to be sad.
We took that book and placed it in his coffin along with our family picture. That was in 1985. We knew then, just as we know now, that whatever struggles we go through in this life, we will all be reunited in heaven.

Wow! It was so heartwarming and heartbreaking to hear one of the gentlemen express the same thoughts about losing his daughter before he even heard the song!
At first, I thought "wow! That was an intuitive guess and was spot on!" .... it wasn't until a few moments later that it struck me: "of course he knows, intuitively, how this feels. He has suffered the same thing, many times. He has had those horrible thoughts and feelings... and probably a million more feelings and ideas that, so far, I'm blessed enough to be ignorant about. I haven't lost a child, so I can't know what feelings that experience would bring and what thoughts I'd have.

Without the love and acceptance of those we love...
    ...Life would be unbearable.
And without the pain of defeat and loss, we wouldn't know how finite our time is and how much we should cherish it, as well as the people around us.
Both give us the strength and inspiration to be the people we should be if we listen to our hearts and have a little faith

I live in Southern part of USA South Carolina where music called the Blues is loved❤ and the VIPs of the Blues(older people) say one cannot properly sing Blues until they have greatly suffered in a personal way. Eric Clapton, the man in video, was able to really sing Blues style after going through the loss of his son.

I think what you're doing is important because it shows us that people are people wherever they may be in the world.
Watching the news, all you get is the worst that people have to offer because that's what sells, so I honestly believe sharing things like this lets us see the other side, the vast majority of people, just being humans and sharing in and reacting to cultures other than their own.
    You're doing a good thing.

So I already watched a couple of these gems. What really strikes me beyond believe is the amount of empathy these people have and are abel to share. As someone who has experienved his own empathy mroe as a burdon most of the times, this is an eye opener to me. Maybe, just maybe I'm just born into the wrong society. Which at least gives me some hope, that there are other communities, where there are wonderful people like these and this is the normal. Maybe one day I will belong.
