    The oxi one is really an great sequencer. There is one thing though that I would like to see is a way to randomize a note pitch like per step. I know there is the stochastic and matriceal sequencer but I would like to be able to enter a melody and decide for each step a random variation for the pitch with an associated probability. In matriceal, you cannot specify a pitch per step, you can have only randomize the root note. Polyend play lets you do that for instance.

      @@tyranic1 They had a new update in October, and another in beta currently. They’re working on it. OXI has been out much longer, so I’m not concerned.
      IMO, they both have decent pattern generation already. What distinguishes them is what they are optimized for. The Hapax is more optimized for MIDI, especially with the added MIDI effects. OXI One is more optimized for CV and gate signals.
      Although, a person can integrate both with either one. When you have as much gear as I have, it’s nice to have that flexibility.

    These grid sequencers like the Oxi seem to be geared towards non-musicians, those who don't know the fundamentals of music. I find the only "enhancement" or help I need is a circle of fifths chart around. I actually bought the Cognitone software just for this one feature.

Would be pretty useful for me if so! Altho i can't reverse time, so i have to deal with the eight track "limitation" of the Eloquencer. But i definitely have enough tools to expand greatly on the number of eight tracks without using another sequencer. Although sometimes i control one sequencer with another. To be honest i really disliked the music you made but the workflow is dope!
    I'm using oxi dawless and im thinking to bring ableton back to play some synth as you just did.
    Oxi is all a sequencer can have, the only thing is that it's not very intuitive but you get use to it after a while.
    Keep up the good work! Cheers

    Cool vids, and stop with that cheating mentality. I play classical piano, and in a way, I'm a button pusher if you think about it. I'm basically just pressing a lot of buttons (keys). And I play songs that people composed hundreds of years ago lol. Just play however yall want and have fun. Lol. Keep the music coming. I'm tempted to get that oxi one man.

    Oxi One is too expensive here, so opted for a PE Play non +, it was $500 cheaper than the Oxi.
    The Reliq is due out next year and that is one of the reasons not to heavily invest in the Oxi or Hapax.
    I think the Reliq will change a lot of things on how people look at sequencers.

      Not fully understanding your logic - there's so many other aspects of the Oxi One I can explore with other set ups. But for this DAW / composition type set up, I don't see anything else on the market that can replicate this sort of work flow- that's for sure.

    Not being funny but it would be so much easier and you would have so much control just using your daw. Nobody needs to spend £700 to make their work flow slower and less intuative.

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  Рік тому +1

      It’s not slower at all though once you learn how to use it and it pushes you to come up with completely different results and adds a hardware feel to composing- It can also be transplanted very intuitively in a live setting. Plenty of reasons why it’s worth it
