Who needs high end tablets? Budget ones are enough for everything u do with them! Like surfing, watching vids, checking mails, social media etc.

Thanks for reviewing this mate , i have been agonizing over what budget android tablet to get for ages , as people keeping talking them down i have resisted .
But some of us don't need super duper gaming models , or high graphic abilities ,
We just want something with a big display to browse the web(better for us oldies with so so eyes ) , watch some tubes and the odd movie, do some emails and have reasonable performance .
This looks perfectly fine for that .... thanks again !
I like my 10.5 tab for the very descent memory, speaker and specially the 16:10 aspect ratio for watching movies. Game tuner will let you play games faster by resolution and hardware tweak. I didn't like the aspect ratio of tab s2 or s3 which makes movies seem smaller in view landscape. Tab S4 is somewhat expensive already. Color is very descent on Tab A 10.1. All in all its a good buy. Happy about it. Doesn't feel cheap.

I have three tablets here a 7" Galaxy Tax 4 , 10" Galaxy Tab 4 and CHUWI Hi13 with Android OS installed as a second OS. I love android OS on tablets. Its far better on tablets than on a phone.
Steve 30x True. Sadly google didn’t understand the potential of android OS in tablets and trying to replace it with chrome OS.

Great review. I'm trying to decide between this (€250 in Sweden) and the iPad 2018 (€340). I need two of them for my kids... Both of them have really good selling points.
One thing though. I don't understand your logic. Android devices are only made by three companies, which is bad? iOS devices are made by how many manufacturers?

Last winter, bought an Amazon Fire Tablet 10HD with 64gb and no ads on sale for like $135.00. For the money it's fine. I do have Prime and can use all their media content, comes with built in Alexa like an Echo. Got all the Google Apps installed (takes like 5 mins.) Also installed Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime etc.. for media. No I don't think i's a great tablet, nor do I think it's bad. It's no iPad but more or less not far off the lower end tablets from Samsung. It is an option. Has decent battery life, display is ok, the mediatek cpu could be better but don't see much lag. Amazon does support it, had a display problem a few months back, went on Amazon on to chat, they had me try a few things, two days later it was replaced, and sent the broken one back. Better then what I would have got from Samsung.
I would add that the Huawei M5 does have a higher resolution but official word is that it doesn't support HD (1080p) streaming AND you can put apps onto an SD card. Both these things are absolute deal breakers. Hence why I bought the Tab A instead.

I think in general the tablet market bottomed out a long time ago. These days from what I can see mostly parents buy them for their kids. Otherwise what are they for? Serious users will use something like a Surface or a laptop, more casual users their phone. Why does anyone like iPads? The last one I used drove me mad. If I were to get a tablet it would be something like this. It doesn't seem bad and it doesn't cost the earth.

Also have a 2 year or so old iPad Pro 9.7 inch with LTE, it's good. I can understand if it's your phone and not wanting iOS but with tablets, they're spot on. Good sound, good display, regular updates as well as apps which are optimized for a tablet.
I do think it's sad that Google has basically given up on tablets and for better or worse heading towards ChromeOS.
ipad sales are actually increasing in 2018. With the new ipad Pro incoming sales will continue to rise. In 2020 Universal Apps for ios and MacOS will mean that ipads will have a super cycle. To say tablet sales are for just kids is ridiculous, maybe Amazon but I suspect many parents would not give their kids a £900 tablet! I think the teen market seems to think life is about a choice, a laptop or a tablet, where in the real world, people buy both and have a great tablet experience and a computer when they need the power and usability. That works great as you don't waste an i7 just watching video, listening to music or using the browser. If you can understand that they are not mutually exclusive then you will realise why they are useful and why ipads are still selling. Of course Apple won the tablet war and MS and Samsung are now small players making little if no margins. Google are now giving up and trying ChromeOS (with Linux and Android usability). They get that when the ipad can run universal apps if they havent developed something similar then they may as well give up like they have on smart watches (despite the reboot).
Second laptop monitor, reading more comfortably, movies, UA-cam, sheet music, midi controller, note taking, Google Drive apps, Skype chatting, etc.
@Cam If anything, I'd like to have more tablets that are also cellphones, at least for the option.

I own this tab now, it supports L1 but DOES NOT SUPPORT NETFLIX HD. Samsung said its a Netflix issue and that Netflix needs to add it to the supported list in their software. If that ever happens I don't know.
