Double pulse gun was absolutely the way to go for me, 2 bursts to 75% overheat is enough to pop the shield, but I agree that melee is OP so I had a melee on my shoulder to swap into during stagger, my other shoulder was a rotary cannon to build more stagger just for the melee
Yeah when he runs away and starts sending multiple rockets at you thats when you close the distance and doge rockets and melee into him. It takes a lot of the shield off and you combine with a rocket or shotgun you can stagger him and use the lasers fully charged when he is down
Update: I finally beat boss using recommend build. At least 24 tries altogether, about 8 with video's build. Trick is to learn how to avoid missiles first and foremost. If you can keep your damage under control, you wait for openings to bring shield down, then charge laser cannons, and shoot him. There's usually enough time to fire another volley of (uncharged) laser before he starts flying around and being dick again. But yeah, I still agree - that difficulty escalation is ridiculous. Feels rewarding when you finally get him, but I imagine some folks ain't gonna have the patience.
I'm sure if the shield didn't recharge after you disable it the first time the fight would be a lot easier because most of the fight is like this... deplete shield, stagger, do a lot of critical damage and repeat. All while you're doing this, you're being bombarded with fast homing missle attacks. I do agree for a chapter one boss, it's a bit too difficult. It feels more like one of the final bosses in past armored core games. All the other boss battles in this game I was able to beat in no more than 8 tries with one lightweight build. However Balteus took me over 2 hours and I just ended up switching to a tank build.

I apologize in advance for the length of the comment and bad english. thank you very much for this video. I lost count of attempts but I'm sure I tried for at least 2 hours. with energy weapons and plasma I always arrive in phase 2 without cures. the boss is not difficult in itself but if it is not dealt with exactly with the right equipment (and with a good dose of luck with the triggers of his attacks) it is really unthinkable. it's not a difficult bos and it's enough that by learning it or trying various equipment you can do it. it's just artificially difficult and I'm very sorry about that. with your build after 3 attempts I defeated him easily the first 1 attempt to see how to use weapons and the 2nd to understand how to move
The loadout you showed was amazing against this boss I decided not to listen to the advice on how to fight the boss except for the dodging the first volume of rockets to see how well I would do first try thanks you so much
OMG, I literally beat him on the first try going in with this build. That was a fun fight and I only survived by a whisker of health. Thanks for the epic build tips!
I was skeptical, but damn did this build pull through. I was trying for a couple hours switching between weapons I owned, and nothing got me past phase two in a significant way. I was using bazooka and machine gun with hover legs before. Anyways, this was extremely helpful. I also learned more of balteus' attacks because of the video. Thank you.
Monster video man, thank you so much. Tried 10 times with a basic build, prior to this boss I think I was just coasting, I was doing very well but hadn't dabbled in assembly. This video was extremely eye opening, after implementing your build I beat the boss on the 1st try.
I think this build comes out of all the From inputs on how one should progress. To make my thoughts clearer, if you follow missions and arena/tutorial missions all the way before doing this specific mission, the best weapons to take that shield down and make damage to the boss are the last ones you get available to buy!! So keeping up with the shop might be a good hint of what is to come here. My thoughts are form a new AC player and i am just passed this boss, don’t know what’s to come next, ao i might be wrong on this….but i am a pretty expert on Froms games and most work this way too as you progress through the runs… And is’t not a critic on your work! This build and explanation of the attacks is very accurate and usefull!!
Thanks for this video. As soon as I changed to this weapon set I beat him first try. The key for me (as others wrote here) is to be super aggressive and stay in his face so he’s right in front of you and you’re landing direct hits when his shield is down. It also helps if you can pin him on the sideline. I managed to melt him down to 1/4 health as he was transitioning to second phase too, so from there I just had to break shield once and he was done
Died to this guy like 30 times using a variety agile/quick builds I had been using. The missile barrages were the biggest problem since even if I could dodge them, they had insane tracking, and a few would just circle around and still be able to hit me, so eventually I'd die due to accumulating chip damage. Switched up to this build and won on my first try. God speed.
I used the really light build with 9400 AP that I normally use, but replaced the dual ludlows with the spaz 12 looking shotgun in my right hand and the pulse gun in my left. The energy missiles and regular missiles on my back really carried haha.
This build is literally the best thing for this fight. Also a great build to fight Stulla right before this. I was almost about to sell my first born to get past this boss.
Honestly a build I found more helpful (absolutely new to the game as well) was using duel plasma missles on the back,a grenade launcher, and a canon. The plasma canons werent dealing the damage I wanted with the plasma shield for some reason Then I use about the same thing here but with a tank legs. With tank legs you can move while shooting in the ground, it also outpaces most things. The plasma missles (canons also help) will shread the plasma armor and track, along with the explosive deadling both massive damage and stagger the boss. I also find it alot better to be at close-mid range to avoid canon fire and the second phase. Close range will judt stagger you and basically a game over. When they're staggered do a boost kick with a follow up of the canon. You can continue staggering with the canons since they deal lots of kinetic damage. After a few tries I totally got the hang of it to destroyed that boss.
its quite insane, it feels like this is the only build u need to clear this game lol later down the road u can do this weapon combination on a light frame and it is even better

Taking inspiration from this really did help. Found a very different approach but aggressive is the name of this game.
Tried the tank track build and just couldn't get him down, this build absolutely destroyed him first try. Thank you sir!
That FIGHTING COWBOY BUILD is a joke to the point of looking so desperate.. having to fly a fucking tank. this build is more livable.
Thank you for the build I used this video to struggle my way through this boss and only after a few attempts did I finally beat him.
Tried it more than 20x fighting this guy. This tactic finally allow me to finish the boss on 2nd take. Thank you!
It may just be me but my god, they really need to tone down the intensity on this boss.
Yeah he’d be fine without his second phase, but for some reason they put a fucking laser sword on him
@@chuckEcheddarcheese You mean flamethrower? I didn't see the boss wielding a laser sword.
Gg
@@santumyar idk it looked like flaming sword thingies to me
I was skeptical, but damn did this build pull through. I was trying for a couple hours switching between weapons I owned, and nothing got me past phase two in a significant way. I was using bazooka and machine gun with hover legs before. Anyways, this was extremely helpful. I also learned more of balteus' attacks because of the video. Thank you.
Thank you so much man! Ive been trying so many builds with this dude. I tried you build and killed him on the first try!
Monster video man, thank you so much. Tried 10 times with a basic build, prior to this boss I think I was just coasting, I was doing very well but hadn't dabbled in assembly. This video was extremely eye opening, after implementing your build I beat the boss on the 1st try.
Jesus those guns absolutely melt the boss, made it so much easier.
Serious props to this build my guy, struggled for hours on a full agility mech and beat him first try copying your weapons. Mint strategy here.
took me a handful of tries with this build, thank you very much.
Thanks dude. It truly was a “DPS” race.
Thx sooooo much. This guy was driving me mad. Beat him first time with this build and just kept the pressure on him
THANK YOU! I was banging my head against a wall trying to deal with all the crap flying at me
I got him first try with this build thank you so much i love you .😮😮😮
Used your guide… sweet Jesus was that guy a nightmare to fight. Once you get the pattern it’s not too bad though.
My thoughts are form a new AC player and i am just passed this boss, don’t know what’s to come next, ao i might be wrong on this….but i am a pretty expert on Froms games and most work this way too as you progress through the runs…
And is’t not a critic on your work! This build and explanation of the attacks is very accurate and usefull!!
Thanks, man. I've literally tried this boss like 40 times with various builds but just couldn't do it. Gonna try again with this build.
This build made me beat this dude in one try after struggling, much appreciated good sir
I've been stuck on this boss since I got the game thank you for this 🙏
Thanks for this video.
Thank you so much for this. Was stuck om this boss for ages lol
Legend ❤❤❤ 4hrs stuck on this guy, did it first time with your build... many thanks 🎉
Thank you, your video guide has helped me betting this pain in the ass last chapter boss
God speed.
When he said put some distance between yourself and the fire sword… I felt that.
The plasma canons werent dealing the damage I wanted with the plasma shield for some reason
Then I use about the same thing here but with a tank legs.
After a few tries I totally got the hang of it to destroyed that boss.
its quite insane, it feels like this is the only build u need to clear this game lol later down the road u can do this weapon combination on a light frame and it is even better
how you guys manage this fight AND the camera is beyond me, I cannot do it...
this boss is genuinely not fun at all
True but it's worth it
@@Z-7_not really part of the fun of FromSoftware games is playing them however you want. Being forced into a hyper aggressive play style is anti fun that’s why dark souls 2 gets so much hate.
@@almalone3282You aren’t forced into a hyper aggressive style here it’s just the best choice. Every move can be mostly dodged if you want to go slower & master him.
Some Souls boss have a most effective way to, Four kings first boss that comes to mind that you should be extremely aggressive.
@@Garybell09 Yes you are. His stagger bar recovers way too fast to allow for a cautious and defensive play style.
@@almalone3282 You still need to shoot your guns bro this helps with that lol.
The game obviously isn’t a souls game tho & offers swapping builds at bosses for a reason.
dps race comment was super helpful. going airborne a lot more in the second half helped me a ton as well.
Man, thank you bro. Bless you bro. I followed this and it only took me two more tries.
"So all you have to do is dodge the missile."
"Not like that, I didn't dodge the missile " 😂😂
This was definitely the weapon set I needed for him, thanks g
It was at this point I realized I was playing elden ring.
Id recommend starting the level with a differnt build since this doesnt work too well against the first ac you have to fight.
Controller you can 100% turn fast enough. Just gotta turn up the camera speed. I was able to get through this boss my own way without playing DPS race. More like stay on him med range, dodge like hell, and slash the living shit outta him. Great video, definitely see how this build would help. Stay alert, stay alive!
You def helped me with the missiles, it knew where I was at all times and your entire build even helped, I have much to learn still thanks for the help
This boss singlehandedly made me dislike this game for now.
Wayy to unfair.
Edit:With your setup I beat him first try.
Still I think it should be possible to defeat this boss with other setups.
Thanks for the build, It was very similiar to what I was using before but didn't have constant stagger buildup weapons.
Did it 1st try with this thanks again
I was stuck on this boss for at least four hours. I would of never though of building this rig on my own. Soon as you told me it was a dps race i beat him in under 40 seconds with .4 hp left!
i was struggling a lot with this fight but with this build i was able to beat his ass in 3 tries, thank you for the help 👍
Been stuck with boss for 1 hour but I enjoyed the fight so much and also the music!
smashed my head against a wall for 20+ tries on this boss. Left, farmed up enough to buy this build, and one shot it. thanks!
