- Armored Core 6 is here which means FromSoftware are back beating us around the head with a rusty mech, with a series of even more impossibly difficult bosses for us to seek and destroy.
Armored Core 6's Balteus boss is one of the toughest to take down in the early game, but the rewards are well worth the risk. So let us guide you through the best build for you to take on this bucket of bolts, and how you can avoid getting blown back to the loading screen and get out with your health bar intact.

This is how i beat him, use the 2nd laser sword and bubble gun and spam the biggest rockets you can. I used the 8x vertical rockets on both shoulders.
Use armour you are comfortable with but make sure to use jumpy legs and booster for better forward charge thrust.
The whole fight is constantly shooting his bubble and then still constantly shooting to keep him staggerd enough to where he doesnt have time to bubble again.
A good tactic is to mega boost to his face and use your sword.
Whenever you see a red square or a error noise, spam dodge left to dodge his high impact bazooka, you can pretty much tank all the rest of his damage when you are on top of his head because he never uses his multi shotgun rocket when you are on top of him.
Keep racing after him rocket spam when available and using that sword on every cooldown and just keep on his head.
At 50% he does a emp pulse so run away.
Dodge backwards like 2 times from fire sword and immediately boost back into his face and repeat.
Its not a noob proof strategy as you still need to dodge his attacks but with enough experience. This boss is kinda like owl boss from sekiro where its all about high pressure and dodging two specific attacks.

Charge sword attack does 2 big range swings so you can even catch him when he tries to run away. As soon as you heard the error

"2nd laser sword attack". You swapped out blade attacks after stagger? How did you stagger with shoulder missles? I used vericle missles he just dodged.

Totally, I've built three different mechs to take that thing down and still no luck. Bunch of assholes at from software I tell ya

Same. Took me 4 days playing 3 hrs each night but finally beat him! It felt like I won by pure luck of his fire sword missing me at the end. But hey I did it. Keep going. Game keeps getting better after.
The generator is wrong, you want VP-20S. The listed one leaves you with an en shortfall. You also get more capacity with that one, you can also swap to FCS-G1/P01 for maximum missile, close, and mid range tracking, which is the zone your aiming for this fight.
Or build the mech how you want and have fun while you hit gud
The second fcs you’re recommending does everything you’re saying it does more of, less than the P05

That is totally incorrect. If you use your generator you’ll be over burdened, if you build it how they say it’ll work.
Just beat him using dual bubble guns to melt his shield and dual laser cannons for the shoulders for damage. Worked great. You just really have to learn how to dodge his nonsense and it’s basically a DPS race

With the number of rockets he puts out, they really need to decrease the distance they can stay locked on and how tight they can turn. Every time I get close enough to melee, he busts out a big cluster of rockets in my face, gets me with the single heavy ACS damage rocket, gets me point blank with the shotty, or gets me with every round of a full burst from his minigun. I've played every FromSoft game since Dark Souls 1, and this has the hardest bosses besides Isshin and Geniichiro
seems like you're not moving or quick boosting enough. If he shoots missiles just dodge them and stay on his right side to avoid the shotgun. Quick boost the minigun to avoid getting hit.
I actually died more in that coral room with the enemy ac and invisible snipers a few missions before this one.
Use double Bazookas

Blades have a high AP Disrupt stat which the Right Arm weapon in this video also has. It pays to bring up all stats in the build menu with Y (or triangle) and then go through the contextual menu to find out what it all does.

This boss caused me to start drinking lol
I did great using the satellite looking weapon that does pulse damage and pulse missiles to take down his shields. After that it was one of the 8 rack blast damage missiles and of course the plasma blade
You are a godsend sir. I tries your build and beat him after I tried other build and got slaughtered constantly. Thank you so much for helping the AC newbie beat his own personal paralysis demon.
This boss battle is way out of control. Yes I can understand why a lot of people are complaining about the Balteus. Understand if you want a good difficulty boss battle. But Balteus is way out of control especially for the first chapter. Software need to update this game to make the the boss fight fair.
Shit did you even play Elden Ring? 😂those bosses were way more of cunts than this one

I can get this boss to half health maybe. I did not buy those shield-breaker weapons yet, unfortunately. Yet I'll have to start the mission over if I give up.

I went double bubble and just cheesed the hell out of him with bubbles. I tried your way, but I would die when he was around 25% health, and whiff occasionally on the melee. If you dual wield the bubble gun then you really don't have to keep track of his phases, just his AOE and keep mid range, which is safe enough
The flamethrower moves are the most annoying to deal with in my opinion cuz of the ridiculous amount of dmg they do...
Been running basically this build but with dual shot guns. They hardly do damage to his shield, so tomorrow when my sanity has returned I will give it a shot with the bill double bubble guns 💪🏼

Not sure if you’re playing on PlayStation or on PC. But I ended up turning the camera speed to 10. It helped me move the camera faster to see when he’s behind me or above me

It works, you just have to have a run where he doesn't constantly run. Or you will run out of ammo with the bubble blower.
Balteus had beaten me to DEATH
I’ve tried many builds including this and had no luck defeating this motherf***er. I had over 100 attempts without any progress. Everytime he was killing me when he was at 20-30% HP. As a noob player who's never touched soulslike games, fighting this boss almost got me neurosis.
Fortunately I figured out a tanky build which also has high output damage. Playing this setup you can let yourself take a lot of damage and you don’t have to rely on evading BALTEUS moves all the time. You’re gonna need WEAPON BAY OS upgrade to make most of this build.
Here’s the setup I used:
R-ARM UNIT - DF-BA-06 XUAN-GE
L-ARM UNIT - DF-BA-06 XUAN-GE
R-BACK UNIT - HI-16: GU-Q1
L-BACK UNIT - Vvc-70VPM
HEAD - HC-2000 FINDER EYE
CORE - DF-80-08 TIAN-QIANG
ARMS - AC-2000 TOOL ARM
LEGS - LG-022T BORNEMISSZA
FCS - FCS-G2/P05
GENERATOR - VP-20S
Strategy I used
When the battle begins, switch right arm to HI-16: GU-Q1 weapon and try to deplete BALTEUS shield, combine it together with Vvc-70VPM missile launcher. Make sure you’re close to him and your plasma shots land at him, otherwise you might run out of ammo soon.
Once the shield is gone, switch to Bazookas on both arms and shoot at him from medium range (would be nice if he does not move but it's not necessary). You should be doing decent damage already. Repeat this over and over until the fight reaches a second phase. Also, try to dodge whatever you can - Yeah, you should’ve a solid defense but still, you're not immortal whatsoever.
When the second phase starts off, just use the same tactic but be careful of his flame attacks. When you notice he tries to use his flame abilities, just keep him at distance and right after just back to the business. I finished him off with two HP kits still left to use. I hope it helps someone who sucks in these types of games just like me.
This game is alot less restrictive than people say. Yeah it's highly reccomended to change your build according to the boss but even if a boss like this has a set way to fight them you can still do it entirely different. Your guide was massively helpful but i sadly haven't bought the plasma gun yet so what i did is made a close quarters ac like u said but used the smg and shotgun. Bruh i aced that boss oddly quick
thx, I like how I was using those shoulder weapons but went for tri grande launcher with the fist gun cause it did do a lot of staggering but then ended up using the shoulder weapons that I used from the start, quicker mech, spinning blade when you hold it to do the charge attack and the grenade launcher then on the second phase I ended up glued to the dude and finally beat him by being aggressive
This is what I did put the game away and stop playing it. I feel much better now.

I started using kinetic weapons, but the plasma guns and rockets work way better. I think I just need to figure out a way to not run out of bubble gun ammo halfway through the fight and I can do it.

Honestly I like this boss. All but for the cannon shot. It’s easy to dodge. But it comes out so quick if your not pay attention and dishes out mad damage (on lighter builds)
Cannon shot you mean that surprise rocket ? Cause yea I will dodge most but once one hits you everything falls apart lmao

Hey I promise, you guys, stick to him. Whatever your style of play is, don’t give Balteus any breathing room. Dodge attacks, watch your boosters, but he does bleed which means you can beat him! Keep at it.
I just overcame the Balteus wall myself and the rewards are worth it! Stay strong pilots ( I think that’s what the AC drivers are called? Lol)
More difficult fights? Took me 4+ days to beat previous boss, Sulla (?). And that class setup, I’m not sure I’m even close to having enough money to get all those weapons and scared to go back to garage bc I *think* I’ll have to fight Sulla again.

I beat him after 2 hours of trying & then found out the game has a save glitch the next day so I’m back at the start of the game & cba.

Nothing says "good game design" like forcing your players to make cheese builds to defeat a boss. This game fucking sucks and fromsoft lost the plot.
Actually, this is good game design. Its not forcing players to make 'cheese builds' to defeat bosses, it's forcing them to choose the right tools for the job. You are given so much freedom to change/swap every aspect of your mech with basically no penalty. NOT forcing players to utilize this to exploit enemy weaknesses would be the real failure in game design, Your raw skill still matters here I think --I haven't been able to hard-counter any boss so far with a particular load out; however, I have been able to make bosses significantly easier to deal with by learning from each defeat and swapping my parts accordingly. I definitely don't agree with a lot of FromSoft's game design decisions, but here I have to side with them.

This game has amazing reviews, half the player count, and boss (just this one in this 15hr campaign) that just require knowledge not skill. Before that it's piss easy. Did Russians get involved in this game's PR campaign?
