Easily the Alba, follow by Mind Alpha
I'd like Hal 826 more except its asymmetrical and that bugs me.
Mind Alpha but I really like how the Nachtreiher looks like it had the Gundam F91's cooling fins sticking out of its back when it enters a cooling state.
Alba/Hal are easily the best looking cores imo
Orbiter or Melander for me, I just think they look good.
For me, Mind Alpha is my go to fashion peice, and the Hal 826 at 2nd place, mostly cause the giant backpack on it kinda bugs me a bit.
Every time Chrightt releases a video, FROM takes it as a challenge and releases a new patch where they change everything he talked about... cant wait for1.05 and a total change to cores this time...
Makes me think a fromsoft dev knows him, so to troll him they prep patches for release then green light them after the video is uploaded

@@DerekMoore82 i recently had the change HDD and got a fresh install of AC6 on my PS... I decided to run the game like that on 1.00 and start a fresh file. Its not that bad to be honest, completed everything except 1 combat log that its bugged (in the mission with all the fog and markers, an enemy with the log will not appear and there is a missing wreck with a file), so i will have to update for the log and the lvl15 loghunt weapon.

Good to know Running Main Dish on my Ork AC with a coral generator was a amazing choice. It only gets better since I also painted it red with black & white checkered, to make it faster and more durable respectively.

this video is probably the most-vulnerable to getting dunked on in a balance patch, hahah. The Core parts live up to their name: they change _so much_ about how your build is going to work.

Kinda cool that all coral specific cores lorewise make sense too; main dish is from a scientist who developed coral generators and the most iconic basho user is dolmayan, who was among the first people and the second most influential person to directly talk to a coral based rubiconian and also just straight up uses a coral generator iirc

Man that’s rough for me. I’ve mostly enjoyed the looks of the Orbiter, Melander and Firmeza on my AC. And all of them sound reasonably outclassed. Still sometimes we must endure for fashion souls.
I haven't found a use for Melander or orbiter yet, but firmeza I've found is very, very good on builds using the nachtreiher for speed but are lacking a few thousand EN supply efficiency, as long as you can handle the longer EN cooldown.
Chrightt is just talking about pure number anyway, in practice you're not losing anything much by using the melander, the difference is marginal at best so fashion away my man.
I feel you. The numbers won't sway me. My Melander C3 on a few classes isn't going anywhere. Looks cool.
On one of my builds, I went with the C3 due to it's lower weight than the VP-40S as the build was very much weight limited by the Alba legs.
I use the Hal 826 core because it looks badass.
Asymmetry makes it look like just a bigger VP!
You mentioned it for the Basho core but the Nachtreiher core also works really well with coral generators. It basically acts as a much lighter but also much flimsier alternative and also features a much faster recovery from red lining than Basho. It's surprising what you can fit into a Aorta Nachtreiher build even with the limited energy output.
Do you need that big an energy bar when the YABA does EN recovery better than coral generators?
@@nilspochat8665 Some might want the coral gen for use with Assault Armour. As that does a lot more damage than normal. Due to doing coral damage.
Another reason might be for if you are using a mix of weapons which includes 1 or 2 energy weapons. Since the YABA has below 100 energy firearm spec.
The final reason is just that the red colour looks cool.
@@Alastair_Ulven indeed, coral generators do twice as much damage (coral does true dmg, that may be the reason) when using assault armor, though that action is really limited, since it is a once in every X time type of action. You don't base a build on expansions in PvP at least (or super rarely like the Bumblebee).
The difference in damage for energy weapons is *marginal* between YABA and coral, they're all around 100 (yaba 95; aorta 105 and 001 is 110 ; both the VP-20 are around 100 and the VE-20B is 150 comparatively)
while it takes around 4 seconds to regen fully depleted energy *or any energy* for that matter, it *happens twice as fast* with the YABA. Think about all the times you fully deplete your energy bar by accident or on purpose in the Nest or on missions.
Not that coral generators don't have their uses but the YABA is a really good generator overall and it really is the king of post-recovery
So I was sceptical a combustion generator had any business being subbed into the role of a coral generator and suspected there were some unmentioned riders, so I tried it out and sure enough there they were.
Combustion generators, including Yaba, have poor output (especially on Nacht). It's less "if you have 1 or 2 energy weapons" and more "if you have more than 1 or 2 weapons period", since attempting to equip even one item on a shoulder already made it clear the thing was stubbing its toes on the shoals of EN load with many equipment options.
It's also not just the Nacht core's poor adjustment responsible either, since I made couple builds employing one with coral and they had no trouble packing plenty of heat.
It also *did* recover faster on balance than a coral generator...if you stayed glued to the ground. To its credit it *was* capable of permaflight, but compared to the floaty generous permaflight of coral generators it was more like gasping desperately to tread water, with no leeway for mobility whatsoever.
So yeah, there it is "The king of post recovery*"
*if you only arm yourself with derringers and walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward
@@CrypticSquid1 1sec for 30% is better than 4 for 50% call me crazy, i'd rather being able to actually dodge than flail around, merely jumping to try and avoid the FCS trying to target my own AC while in PvP.
Plus, you can't *perma-float* with a coral, post-recovery isn't the stat for that, that'd be a mix of EN supply efficiency and recharge delay.
Since the Nachtreiher is the worst at that it eliminates it as a flying core while it makes the ephemera the best at it. On top of that, *indeed* being frugal in your loadout helps achieving perma-flight. It's about managing properly your EN consumption so what you just used comes back before you have time to get back as low to the ground as you previously were. *Royal Skies* on UA-cam has a good vid about all that called _'How to master energy management in (Armored Core 6)'_ that should clear things out.
For true perma-flight i have a rat build that never *ever* has to touch ground as long as you manage *properly* your EN bar

What coral generators are good at is big EN capacity and a bit of energy weapons specialization. That's it and that's plenty.
I love the ALBA chest piece, the lower head position compared to the shoulders makes almost everything else look good for fashion. The adjustments are also quite nice so I use it with a lot of builds.
The ALBA is honestly just peak in so many ways especially it's fashion which is unmatched save for the HAL

Of the four "Balanced" ones, Melander C3 has the lowest weight. I have multiple builds that use it because of that! ~1400 more weight from the chest, some more from specific leg choices and all of a sudden a better arms/weapon loadout can be done (we want to keep weight limit or booster limit to their respective limitations before significant drawbacks).
Kind of fitting that the Basho relies on coral generators, an old piece that is brought back into relevance by advanced tech.
I like how the old tech has junk generator output adj actually. Very nice to see them stick to the theme.
@@Chrightt Similarly, I like that the MELANDER series - described as a simple design suitable for mass production - is not quite as good as the ALLMIND-made MIND ALPHA or the Arquebus "masterpiece" VP-40S.
Nachtreiher receiving a buff last patch to its output stat helped my build a lot!
Same! Beforehand I found it had a problem of not pushing any generators very far, meaning I had the same EN as the generator with .45, seconds cooldown with any. And nowadays, it's the core of like 1/3rd of my builds 😅
I pair it with coral generators.

I had a pretty good handle on cores before this video, and you still got me thinking about the main dish in new ways. I didn’t think to combine that huge supply with a coral generator - that’s a really good idea. Your videos are the only ones still teaching me things about this game, so keep up the great work!

Between the two best balanced cores, VP-40S and MIND ALPHA, I tend to skew towards MIND ALPHA for the superior defensive stat spread despite the lower boost speed from the 1.5k weight variance.
That said, I don't write off the MELANDER nor the MELANDER C3 because they have much better explosive defense over the VP-40S which can be valuable when fine-tuning a build. I think the nuance around the distribution of defensive stats got glossed over when you just lump 5 defense-oriented stats into a "defense score" but I suppose you weren't interested in diving that deep in this video.

Thanks to this video, I’m starting to think that my main AC could be made a lot better by using a different generator with the Nachtreiher core. Currently, I use the Aorta in a lightweight build.
For some reason, a lot of my builds are centered around "Balance" here... Even in Chrightt's previous video, I was using the Balanced Generators. Eventho, I have 0 clue what I was doing. All I know was that, it FELT GOOD using it. So I never change my build all that much, because it just felt right. It's weird to find out that MIND ALPHA was also a Balanced Core Piece... I just used it because it looks good... Fashion, rather than Function... My builds also centered around Energy Builds because that was the most fun I had playing.
The builds I made in my playthrough, NEVER changed after my first playthrough, fighting HAL.
Head Piece : VP-44D
Core Piece : MIND ALPHA.
Arms and Legs : HAL
I never changed these... Just because of the look, and that it felt good.

Basho is actually really nice especially for a midweight coral gen niche build. You get a ton of defensive stats to make up for coral gen's down time too.

They really need to add about 200 more points of Energy drain to Mind Alpha, while adding an extra 100 Kinetic and Explosive defense, along with another 1k AP to the Melander cores.

The Jailbreak is basically just meant to be a garbage Basho in every way, including visually. A Trasho, if you will.
Quite impressive considering that most builds with a Basho core end up looking like trash already because of how much it clashes with other sets.
I always use the HAL or the Mind Alpha. I'm a sucker for well-balanced cores with good output.
Feel bad for the Orbiter, now I know why I never managed to like the numbers I get when I scroll over it, so I never used it despise it looking good.

I like the way that most of the starting AC parts look. I just wish they decided to make them maybe just a little better stats wise. Like I get that it's supposed to be like the tutorial gear, but it just kinda sucks that 2 whole part sets in this game (jail break, and starting AC) are basically useless when this game already doesn't have that much to choose from.
Is Nightfall Raven heavily buffed? When we used the same parts it doesn't perform anywhere near what the NPC does
They're basically pieces for when you need that extra EN really badly.
@@Boss_Fight_Wiki_muki_twitch The weakness of the Nightfall AC is the overall mid tier internal parts it uses that are unable to support it's loadout effectively. Mainly the generator and booster. But it's dual missile and FCS is also kinda mid.
Nightfall, for some reason, uses the Ling Tai, which is not as powerful as it's stat screen makes it seem, since it can't support a medium EN load without tanking it's EN recharge, which is the only reason to use it anyway. Nightfall has a Scudder, Songbird, Pile Bunker and dual missile. That loadout takes up too much EN load for the generator to be worthwhile, as it weakens the good EN recharge the gen is meant for. At that point, the Ming Tang recharges much faster.
I've beaten the game a total of 4 times. NG through NG++, and S ranked every mission.
I tested Nightfall on the mission where you fight the OG Raven 1 on 1 and it sucked. Once I swapped out all of the internals and the dual missile I was able to beat the NG+ fight against Branch in 1 try.
Raven is coded to counter any melee attempts with a charged Pile Bunker, and all AC pilots input read to an extent, letting them dodge better against heavy hitting weapons.
Honestly yer I feel the same. Though that is mostly because for some reason all the Arquebus cores really like being asymetrical... And when most of the rest of the core is symetrical it bugs me.

I've a video (Defend the Dam Complex - King, Chartreuse, NightFall) showing this. NPC Nightfall doesn't touch the ground once.
I honestly just try to make a build around the one I think looks the coolest XD my favorite is still the one from AC 4 that the intro vid AC has

I'm so glad I found your channel! If I send my build list can you advise if it needs some changes? My goal is close but a slight distance without the use of shotguns, precise on lockon, decent energy recharge and speed for both boosters and quick boost.

@Chrightt I'll try get into discord, I actually have 2 similar builds but 1 is coral. For this AC I like to stay close but with enough distance to keep boosting around and over them to keep them guessing where I'm going while using both arm rifles and right before the arm rifles need to reload use the shoulder mount turrent then once they are a 1 hit or 2 away from being stunned I use the blade double attack which I often charge. I try to avoid depleting energy so I use it up until it's low then recharge but will redline if needed.

If your interested I can also send the Coral build. That one is quicker similar armor level and a lot more room for boosting.
If they make dlc I hope they make parts with cloned stats so you can focus more on style customization. For example there is only one set of arms which have maximum target tracking. Also lighter more powerful generators to allow more weapon combos. Would mean less picking function over aesthetic and more unique builds. Meh, I hope they don't. Making stat clones just for the aesthetics drastically reduces the personality of the parts. Tradeoffs are good, even style tradeoffs.

Thanks for this video, i want my ac to be practical but also look nice. But i changed my core from melandir, seen in the thumbnail, to the other one in the thumbnail that looks like knights armour. Im stronger and no longer weak to energy weapons.
Wait, at 1:21 you mention that every point above 100 decreases QB cost by 1%. With the stat at 115, wouldnt it be 15% instead of 4%? Unless I'm really misunderstanding something here

So the orbiters job is to be the starting core, it can't be useless but it should be the worst so that regardless of what core you buy it's a upgrade

Ephemera got hit way to hard 😢 was one of my go to chest pieces.
It's still a fantastic core for enabling energy builds, especially if you're trying to cram them on the 150 energy wep generator. The nerf was warranted IMO

I really don't get why they gave cores energy cost - it needlessly complicates something that could be easily rolled into the Output Adjustment.
Sometimes, things in this game are pointlessly obtuse.
I ironically runs a full Basho set with Jailbreak core, for overall aesthetic and it's lighter weight. Full Basho set with kikaku is just too slow imo.

I think the booster efficiency stat also impacts any kind of boost use beyond quickboosts, correct me if I'm wrong.

@@Alastair_Ulven you regen while flying in the air quite fast, and the moment you touch the ground it will be full instantly to the point where the energy bar is kinda glitchy.
The arm load really bothers me for some reason. I mean isn't the core supposed to be the thing supporting both arm + weapon weight and the flimsy looking ball joint that connects them is very unbelievable 🤣

despite watching all the videos, reading up on the subject, I still have 0 understanding of proper build making in this game. I'm just dumb, depressing. Doesn't help that anything goes for PVE, so you're never forced to tweak and spend hours in garage besides minor adjustments.
Melander core really is disappointing, yeah. Having minor penalties to 2/3 adjustment stats just feels really bad & meanwhile none of its stats stick out well enough to justify this. On the other hand, I definitely disagree with your assertion re: Melander C3; it's a fantastic all-arounder core, that pretty much is what the Melander core wishes it was.
This is very reductive as to the utility of the core. Cores affect EN supply efficiency and recharge delay a lot for instance, which can greatly influence flying without the use of coral/yaba generator.
The core in AC6 is as important as the generator.

@@froddy32623that core thing really only works in universe. If I never see my guy get into it, for all intents and purposes, the AC _is_ me, not the human 621 is. Besides that, you have 2 legs, 2 arms, a head and a chest. People only say "core" in relation to their abdominal area. When the chest is added to the mix, it's the most prominent feature. Hell, the first thing you notice on the different Cores is the stuff they changed in the chest area, not the core area.
