- Racing sportscars of the 1950s evoked the glory days of the Le Mans 24 Hours as they raced for the Salvadori Trophy at the 80th Goodwood Members' Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport. It would eventually become a heated four-way battle with all the podium places up for grabs.

The most beautiful race of the weekend?
Now that's racing, awesome from start to finish.
That was some of the best racing I have ever seen by the 49, he deserved a place on the stand more than any of the winners.
Hart was unsportsmanlike

It's so great to see these vintage race cars going all out! 👌
Pushing someone onto the grass at 100 mph in vintage racing is really bad form and I think it's it's remarkable that he wasn't flagged or asked after the race to withdraw his entry by race officials, it's not a race to the death not is it banger racing and the safety level in the cars is such that a car rolling from being pushed onto the grass will most likely result in a fatality and so that will be the end of Goodwood racing. Just have a gentlemanly chat with him about those unsightly scratches on the side of his car.

Agree with you 100 percent. I've seen more gentlemanly driving at an Italian junior, Kart race meeting! Hart should have had his licence removed for that sort of dangerous driving.
And who remembers Roy Salvadori? CIrca 1990 I was pit lane marshall at the Macau GP. They had a Mazda MX-5 race for stars of yester year. Roy was there. He stopped next to me as he was going out of pit lane and asked if I would kindly adjust his wing mirror, which I did.
I remember him. A great driver.

Probably the best race of the weekend. Some important context that isn't obvious from the video is that the No. 49 1959 Cooper-Climax T49 ‘Monaco’ of fourth-on-the-grid Shane Brereton had to start from the back of the grid after a restart due to some confusion over the starting procedure.

Thank you, sir, for correctly identifying this car. I was waiting for the whole race to determine that information and have to say the whole commentary was woefully lacking from the usual standard of information being imparted

Goodwood: more excitement and overtaking than an entire season of F1
Hart shoving Brereton off the track in the last 2 laps was wrong.
Once more, the racing time was down to zero and the checkered flag wasn't ready. Luckily, this time the podium positions stayed the same one the excess lap.

I'm surprised roll-bars aren't mandatory for these cars. I spotted one car without one at all, a couple of others weren't tall enough to protect the driver.
With a rollbar it would not be historically correct. Have you seen the pre war race, the drivers only protection is their personal safety gear.

very hard racing from both Hart and Gans....on the limit.....those Lotus cars were (still ARE) difficult to beat on cornering and brakes....juuust a bit more power perhaps would have made them invincible....Haa...in the end the jags have more power...

Oliver Hart deserved a penalty for that dangerous move. Deliberately pushing the car on to the grass should not be allowed. The Harts are notoriously dirty drivers.

David hart pushes some and then close the window on the outside forcing someone in the grass just shows you how reckless he is if he did it twice in just one race.
Why not the name of the cars too on the leaderboard?

That is real racing: skill, risk, unpredictability and excitement. Makes F1 look dull.

They certainly need to. I can read the car race numbers by myself thanks. Maybe hire someone who knows a little about the cars and the history. Somebody tell that female commentator this isn't the X games.
How in the heck, did Hart not get Black Flagged for such unsporting driving - that wasn't just taking the racing line, that was deliberately forcing the competition off the track.
As a driver, he should be ashamed of his behaviour, close to outright cheating.
He does it all the time him and his son. They are both very dirty drivers but they continue to be invited back. I have no idea why they want dirty drivers.
There are unfair drivers at every level in motorsports!!
