If anyone wants anymore Jammin in Jamaica analysis in their life, the youtuber Li Speaks has a video on her channel about the entire my scene line, and a sizeable chunk of it is dedicated to this film. She provides some of the context from the minisodes, and also examines the film through a sapphic lense. If anyone wants to check it out, there are time stamps in the video that should make the analysis easy to naviagte to if you want to skip the stuff about the dolls and other films. Highly recomend it!
Okay, so I've been thinking about this for a while, and while there might be a point in this movie "not being that deep", I kind of have to disagree. I doubt anyone who has gotten any kind of education in movie making or storytelling of any kind hasn't read about different ways to structure a story. The question, in my opinion, isn't so much if this structure was there or not, but rather if it was put there intentionally or subconciously.
Ooh you know I just kind of ran with the assumption it was intentional but come to think of it if you crank out a million of these, maybe it just comes naturally
