    Just don't understand why people have a problem with a noob like me being able to scratch with no self training. It's the audience that counts. People on the dance floor are not going to know the difference - they are only going to enjoy my creative mix! I get to spend more of my time to creating context/content rather than laborious effort in one technique. This attitude wrecks of narcissism and just plain old selfishness! How dare you be able to do what i do without having spent years of trial and error! LOL.....Freaking Amazing!

    • @Bremflux
      @Bremflux 6 років тому

      Think of scratching as playing an instrument. Surely you can wow your friends with presets from a keyboard or beat machine, but that's not you... You've gotta do it yourself as djing is an art. Part of the art is mixing and mashing and effects, but basic scratching and beat matching is the 1st skill you should master. You should want to learn this honestly.

    Thanks for the review Jamie. I bought this to teach kids and I think it'll be a great entry point for them versus my DJ808. I'm kind of annoyed at Serato that I cannot use my existing DJ Pro license from my Roland DJ808 on this. Serato should allow you to add devices into their Pro license rather than deploying the license through the hardware manufacturer. 249 pounds in the UK but 649 in New Zealand, it's getting out of reach already for parents who want support their kids down under. Cheers

      +Crossfader I have a few questions.can I use an analog mixer for DVS?or does it have to be a digital mixer?Also if I use DVS,and everything is in the laptop.if unhook the turntables,and then hookup this controller will it be the same music?or will I have to put all new music for the controller?One more thing,does the laptop have to be an apple to use DVS and controller's or can it be any computer?

    • @Crossfader
      @Crossfader  6 років тому

      DVS is an expansion for different softwares. For example to use DVS you will need a DVS enabled mixer/soundcard/controller. These products differ depending on which software you decide to use.
      The analog mixer would have to go through a DVS soundcard making it a digital source unless you know of a plug and play analog mixer.
      Did you have a mixer already in mind?
      A controller would go into your laptop separate to the DVS soundcard/mixer. DVS mode uses something called absolute or relative mode whereas controllers use internal mode. You would literally press a button in the software to switch control over from the DVS and turntables and your controller.
      No you don’t need an Apple MacBook to use DVS or Dj with. Windows laptops are supported also.

      THANKS! Last night actually went REALLY well, played for over 5 hours! Once I started using it things got fairly fluid (slow starting party), at first had to remember to turn Fx and fxFade OFF when done using them so that side is ready to play another track. To make things simple I disabled the cross-fader [sorry :D] which some "pros" on youtube suggest doing to any controller (fewer variables the better for me). DLed her playlist from BPM Supreme, they had almost all the songs (mostly current rap). Was able to DL requests too (limited songs on my HD so far) since I had Internet access (that could be a chit-show running against the clock). Now watching your video again to figure out more features.

    If pioneer made the pitch fader longer and included rekordbox, it would definitively have better selling points

    • @Crossfader
      @Crossfader  6 років тому +4

      Longer pitch fader is a huge one. I don’t get why they include such small pitch faders on these entry level controllers. I’d much rather see a slightly bigger controller that makes room for a full size pitch fader.

    • @FSwiftDJ
      @FSwiftDJ 6 років тому

      Pioneer need to address the pitch fader on entry controllers, you can match edm club house with 4x4 groove beat, but styles like 2 step garage or drum n bass 126-138 BPM or 160-173 BPM your going to find that difficult to get accurate with small pitch like this

    • @Ashad2012
      @Ashad2012 6 років тому +1

      @@Crossfader
      To force you to buy their bigger and better controllers.
      If the SB3 has the tweaks it needs then it would affect the SR2 sales, which ironically has pitch faders that are also too short to keep it from affecting the SX3 sales.
      Pioneer gives you the ability to get to features on the small controller but it just not the most comfortable way to get there.
      Still the SB3 is a major improvement from the original SB and SB2.

    • @soulsteela01
      @soulsteela01 4 роки тому

      The pitch fader is seriously a very weird decision. They could even make the controller bigger if it meant longer pitch faders. But if you want rekord box, you can always go for DDJ-400, with rekordbox full version included.

    I know this is 4 years old, but are there any entry level DJ boards that have a free spinning platter? I have the ddj200, I'm generally fine with it but I want something that I can spin like a fidget spinner.

    Thanks for this awesome review/tutorial. I have 2 questions, #1 Can I use Serato DJ Pro for this DDJ SB3? #2 Is DDJ SB3 able to do video mixing, if so, do you have a tutorial for video mixing? Thanks again.

    Since I’m used to virtual dj, can I use that ? Or will it eventually cut off my recording sesh and say I need to upgrade?

    Is it the sampler that people use to get those classic scratch sounds that they scratch with? Or do they do it another way? I've always wondered where they get those classic echoy scratch sounds from. Any tips would be appreciated.
