I use the sb3 in 2023, coming from OLD CDJ800s almost 20 years ago, just getting back into DJing, and another local DJ loaned me their backup controller until I can pick up one of my own and it's the SB3. I *love* the sb3 in vdj, serato, and Mixxx. It's a fantastic controller for live online dj streams, mobile gigs, basically anything you need it to do. Perfect to learn on, practice on, or use for a gig
Full time mobile DJ here, I still use the SB3 over higher end controllers because of its compact size and multiple fx. It's not perfect but it definitely makes life easier and I always say if you have gear like a PA to setup you want your stuff to be as light/small as possible without sacrificing quality and the SB3 is one of the ways I achieve that.
As a DDJ SB, SB2 & SB3 owner. In my opinion, the only change I love from SB to SB3 is the same format of decks instead of mirroring (both tempo slides are on the same area) and the trim/gain. The trio fx is already at sb, i prefer scratching the turntables than pad scratch, i can just do fx fades manually (like heck! I can do it on sb) and I guess the extra features that SB3 kinda babysitting new djs... Well on DDJ 400? The format of DDJ 400 mimics the standard equipments on clubs, good if you're trying or a club dj for easy transition. (Tbh i can easily forgot the fx bcuz my muscle memory is already on the Cdj Nexus and mixers hehehe)
I have the sb3 right now is a good dj mixer is a beginner and more advance feature the only thing that I change is the 4 channel because is only 2 uppfader so is harder to figure it out what channel you are so I change to 2 channel and if they put 4 channels put 4 uppfaders is more easy
I'm so sad that pioneer killed off the DDJ-SB3 , I loved the setup it's close my to SRT-1000 which I love that thing bought it after i got out of navy boot camp 😂 , I had my sb3 for about 2 -3 years my brother sold it
I’ll move to the FLX 10 next year, but this year I have rocked a wedding and multiple parties. Including the club scene. This thing is a beast for its size. Money well spent, and earned back. 😎
I wasn’t sure whether to get this or the ddj 400 and I ultimately decided on the 400s. If u have a mac get the SB3 but if u have a windows laptop get the 400s
Why is that? Is it a capability issue that the 400 work better on a windows system than a mac? I ask because I did buy the SB3 for for my late 2013 MacBook Pro model in 2018. The only reason I didn’t buy the 400, I wasn’t familiar with rekordbox dj, but if this is true then I’m glad I luckily made the right decision.
@They Caged Non thanks for your input, however I was told that between the two controllers DDJ 400 & SB3 the SB3 is the closest beginner controller to transition to a mid tier, or pro controller. Especially if one intends on being a scratch DJ in the future. The SB3 is better for practicing those skills on over The DDJ 400. They’re both similar controllers except for if you’re trying to hone the skills of beat juggling scratching the jog wheels aren’t good for that like the SB3. The 400 out the box has pro features where serato DJ lite is limited in features. I’ve never touched a DDJ400 so I don’t know how true that comparison is from a review I seen on the two controllers.
Oh man I definitely didn’t know about the fx fade features! I use the DDJ1000 with Rekordbox and love the Serato Flip feature so I own the SB3 and even use at my mobile gigs. Gonna try these features. Thanks for sharing!
Man if you love the serato flip feature and the professional quality of the ddj-1000.. Just get the DDJ-SX3 it is a absolutely amazing controller and $100-$200 less then the ddj-1000
@@michaellee1725 I also have the MC7000 and still a beast plus the DDJ-SB3 for small gigs. That new Rev7 looks pretty dope. Will it make me a better dj, nah. SX3 will probably drop even more in price.
@@MrJFunkSanchez yeah it will and it is solid af now too. The Sx3 has dedicated buttons and controls on the controller for serato flip making way faster and easier to use on the fly. I own it i Love it. I had a sb original. And before that i only ever mixed on technics 1200's and 1210's for over 15 years.
@@MrJFunkSanchez the lay out and controls of the sx3 are perfectly married to serato a lot better then the 1000. Only thing better imo is sz2. But the 1000 is more of a club cdj feel so i get it.
@@MrJFunkSanchez also with the sx3 you dont need a mixer ot receiver for it to plug into. Its a stand alone mixer so you just Plug in speakers and go... 2 laptop outputs. 3 mic outputs..4 channels. We always had to carry around a old djm-600 mixer for our ddj-sb to plug into for gigs. Its nice not having to use extra equipment. its fun to hook up keyboard or midi controller, synth as well..
I have virtually no xp in dj'ing and only want something for home to play around with. I found one of these used in new condition for $179.00 USD. Should i go for it? Also, can you save your mixes to listen in full later? Sorry, i know nothing of this stuff.
i recently got one. been making stuff in Ableton before i even thought about getting something like this. the 2-channels thing does get confusing when you're using decks 3-4. I'd say what the key is.. is resetting the faders down to 0, WHILE the said deck (3 or 4, or 3+4) is activated, AND as you cue up the layer. It has been interesting, because I couldn't think of a way to use them effectively to say the least, prior to this video.
i dont use 4 decks but i kinda get what youre saying. theres a setting to reset or shut off the fx when you load a new track (i kept forgetting to turn off the fx and bringing in my new track at full echo lol. would be dope if there was something similar for your situation
Great video! CF is my favorite channel and I also own this controller, however, despite the great lessons and skills on this guy, the Boring AF tee was not a good choice for a video that we should be interested to. Subliminally bad. Other than that, you guys rock. Thank you and please keep the good work.
@UCkl2fEkjLeL2wImsgWsqdNQ I was about to mention that same fact. My question is does the club own the pro license, or can you upgrade to the pro version because it opens that controller to a little more features. Truly it took me a while to upgrade to pro on the SB3 because serato DJ lite isn’t really restricted for software that’s considered to be lite. It was hard to pass up the special serato DJ pro ran as a Black Friday deal. It was like $49.99USD. Just keep checking they run specials all the time.
I am DJ from Jamaica and I am a proud owner of a SB3 it's a awesome Controller got to Say.... RESPECT

Hey quick question are you able to use only headphones with this controlller I have roommates and don’t want to always practice on speakers
@@BaekhyunJyeah you can... Just turn on master on the headphones cue and enjoy yourself !!!
I’m happy with my gold edition. I took it with me when I went on vacation. Just rocking out on the beach.

I'm relatively new to this controller, how do you do it without internet?
I’ve been using this controller as a beginner in March 2020 and it’s GREAT! You can do alot with it!
I got the Pioneer SB 3 as a birthday gift and I'm delighted with it. Actually learning these techniques. Takes time & practice. Thanks.

Have used the SB2 (mostly) and SB3 for over 40 live gigs from 2019 to present. Solid controllers.

those tunes by lawrence james though! fire!
You will be able to get your hands on them very soon 🙌
Where did you get that shirt tho'?
I just bought an SB3 last month, and I like it better than the DDJ400
Please Advise me how you set up the breaking track stop
What program are u using
Question, did you have to get an audio interface for this to use the mic... Or can the mic be used directly to the sb3?
Great video! How can you apply the FX fade from the beginning of this tutorial on DDJ 400?
2023 and 1/2 am still using it 😎

Sb3 have the same problem with the SB2 with mic volume and static noise? The ddj 400 has the same problem.
