There are a lot of movies out there that are changed for global audiences. Check out this list we compiled for you. The cupcakes which Randall Boggs makes in Monster’s University were changed to smiley faces in the international versions. The speech made by Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 2 featured a spinning globe and fireworks instead of the American flag. The Chinese version of Iron Man had lengthened scenes and even added a few extras. Riley from Inside Out was a soccer fan instead of hockey in some international releases. The broccoli her father tried to feed her when she was a kid was changed to a green pepper in the Japanese version. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End featured a lot less of Chinese actor Chow Yun-Fat in their version of the movie. In Zootopia, different animals played the newscasters depending on which country the movie would be played in. Prior to Steven Spielberg’s 2012 release of Lincoln, there was a brief history lesson to inform people from other countries who Abraham Lincoln was and what he did for our nation. In Stanley Kubrick’s, The Shining, the manuscript that Jack Torrance was writing was changed with sayings from all over the world depending on where it was played. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the Cap has a to-do list of cultural things he needs to check out. The list was changed due to different parts of the world. Vin Diesel had to say “I am Groot” in 15 different languages for Guardians of the Galaxy.

It's funny how when he's talking about toy story, he assumes you can't tell it's american just because there's no american flag. Everything in that movie screams "THIS IS FROM THE USA"
Hell the MAIN CHARACTER is a cowboy XD
Victor Almohalla yeah..
Victor Almohalla not really.these toys do exist elsewhere and also the Japanese and other places have a huge interest in cowboy culture.
A Kayfabe not talking about the toys
Like spoiled brats?
In some places in Europe Zootopia is called Zootopolis
Patril Pop Elvis zootopia zootropolis
Patril Pop Elvis Poland-"Zwierzogród" lmaoo
In austria (and probably germany and maybe Switzerland if they show the german version) it's called "Zoomania"
It's called Zootopolis here I think. I've never seen it, aha (Norway)
Patril Pop Elvis, wow really!? Cool.
"He had to learn how to say 'I am Groot' in..." lists of languages "...and of course, English."
Really? You sure about that? He had to learn how to say it in english?
In french he says it with a grammar mistake "je s'appelle Groot" instead of "je m'appelle Groot" and it's very confusing
"Ich bin groot" that sounded sweet
Hannah
Hehe german ;-;
Hannah hi fren |-/
NEIN! I loved the movie and I actually think "Ich bin Groot" fits better than "I am Groot" but that's probably because I've only seen the German versions
It’s German
In France we got "Je s'appelle Groot".... WHY ??? Why didn't they used "Je suis Groot" ? It's a bit clumsy but that's ok. It's longer and a grammatical mistake ! I can't even translate it in english... It was clearly made on purpose but just why ?
Zootopia a place where all animals live in harmony but every thing changed when the fire nation atacked
ZZ909 ha
ZZ909 hahaha.. Avatar
Really? XD
ZZ909 *when the stereotypes attacked.
ZZ909 lol😂😂
I feel like the little rants on the end of the changes where he explained what the movie was about was to push the 10 minute mark
PaulOwnzU just wish he's get onto the next point, totally unnecessary
Katie J Yeah he probably does it on most of them so it's not 10:01 and super obvious
PaulOwnzU, the worse part is have to study this on school (isn't even our history) for when you wacth a movie (look my knowledge serve for something) the guy looks like there and made a explanation. God for me that as a short explicative prologue, but poor Asians.
+ tt. v vvvvv v. v v. thanks g. vvvgttv tyv. vvvgttv
7:59 "Here's Johnny" 😂
10:48 omg rocket's german voice is the best
I'm Australian and I could not give a damn what animals they have as news casters
brent jarvis as long as they are sexy ,sorry that's kiwis :)
Or sexy and easy for us British
Hells yeah I'm Australian to
I kinda feel bad for New Zealand... they ALSO had a koala? wtf? koalas aren't even in New Zealand...
jazzy wazzy woo they should of had a kiwi bird
brent jarvis me two
Its not that green peppers are gross here, pretty standard in Japan. Its more brocoli is not eaten alot and actually kind of expensive as i believe it is all imported
Nihon no Style yes that is probably it. Isn't all the broccoli thats added to Asian stuff in other countries completely wrong and would not be there in actual Asia?
Most of the 'chinese food' you get in NA and other western countries isn't 'true' chinese cuisine. Most of it was created in the west for a western market, using western ingredients.
Domura - that's what I was afraid of. How would an American get authentic Chinese food here? Do u know of any restaurants that r closer to true Chinese food?
and yet they just started opening them in japan :P
are you japanese, or moved to japan from another country??
this video reminds me of when i try to fluff up my papers to get them to the page limit
Now i need to see the chinese version of ironman 3.
People at Singapore are upset because... a fictional movie character says welcome to Singapore.
*WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW*
It's known that Singaporeans are easy to get offended but they will pay any money for something they like even if it's hella expensive...or at least that's what my family always told me.
Tell me what you know about Singapore.
Maybe they are upset because people will have a wrong interpretation of Singapore? Wrong interpretation/stereotypes can affects a countries economic and citizens, especially for a small country such as Singapore. I know it may sound far-fetched but there have been cases of it. Linking pirates to Singapore can lead to less people wanting to use Singapore's ports as an en route for cargo shipments, etc, affecting Singapore's economy.
Once again, yes, far-fetched but Singapore is a small multiracial country...they can't risk anything big.
Bodoh.
You mean me? If you do then all I can say is that my parents were probably talking about my aunt who is a Singaporean. While I've been to Singapore myself, I'm not one who're good at observing people nor do I interact much with people.
Hana Tjia, I meant " REX! ".
We definitely didn't have a corgi 😂😂😂
Megan Mayo I always am a bit confused about that because mysteriously there is footage of all the other animals but then they say Britain/England has a Corgi and you never see pictures or footage of it, at least I have never...
SmilyLily1996 when I watched it there was no corgi
Megan Mayo that was my point.
Everyone says that the UK got a corgi and we've seen pictures of all the other animals but never a corgi.
I think it's just mm misinformation
Megan Mayo you are Wright when I watched ZOOTROPOLIS I saw a moose not a corgi
yeah anyway it is a demesticated animal so it wouldnt have fitted in with the story and world in general
In the British version Monsters University has smiling cupcakes too, and we speak English..... Why?
bloody 'ell mate
Is "pal" a common word there? I'd imagine the average Brit not knowing what that means or at least thinking it's awkward.
Hahaha yep, Pal is a word
Gabrielle Twigg Okay, yes. But I asked if it was common there. No need to answer though.
不謹慎 Not only is 'pal' very commonly used in Britain, it originated there!
6:17
"You need a higher seat, sir?"
Tanuki-reporter: "Nah, I got this" *drops pants*
"UUUGH OH GAHD!!"
Tanuki: "I can even use them as a hut or a parachute" ;)
Zootopia or zootropolis in the U.K. Didn't have a Corgi for a news caster we had the moose and snow leopard. Just wanted to say
Plenty of those in the UK eh? ;)
I think we had a moose because the voice actor was Vassos Alexander (One of the BBC 2 radio presenters). In the film his character was called Moosos Alexander. And I suppose they just kept it?
TBH they probably show either version of movies in the UK, most people won't notice
Erin Mills yep
In Norway they didn't change hockey even though soccer/football is more popular here, but they translated signs (which is unnecessary to me as I prefer watching Disney movies in English)
Part Dolphin ... Dolphin?... makes dolphin noises then starts clapping*
I DIED XD
There wasn't a corgi in the UK version of zootopia, we had a moose and I thought there were only wild animals that inhabited zootopia
Leah Milne, nah in Brazil we really have a Jaguar.
I can reconfirm this comment
There was a domestic pig getting her picture taken in the DMV scene with the sloths (at least here in the USA)
Nick had a chihuahua in his stroller.
Raine_the_Anime_Queen it's a fennec fox
You can tell there trying to drag it to ten minutes so they can get that sweet sweet money
James Acca what does ten min have to do with that?
A Kayfabe 10 minute long videos get an ad in the middle of it as well as the start
good thing i have adblock
Which ad block that u use? Because the ads in youtube keeps appearing even after I use an ad block
True dat
Here in Brazil they put Mamonas Assassinas in the "to do" list, was such a great addition!
Awesome love it
"If you didn't know, zootopia is a city where all breeds live together in harmony" me: *laughs* no it isn't
How come everyone is saying that in Zootopia the UK version had a corgi yet there are no pictures of it? Ive been looking for the mytical corgi since the film was released and haven't been able to find it.
There were not overly domesticated animals like dogs and cats at all
It’s because it’s not true, we had the moose. No corgi.
Mandela got him.
Kevin Nelson the Mandela effect
It was called Zootropolis here though, because of a European trademark
It was Ice Hockey in the dutch version. Nobody in the country plays ice hockey (ice skating, hockey and football are very popular) and there are no ice hockey rinks. However, everyone knows what ice hockey is. Why? Because of American movies and series. Those feature american football, ice hockey, basketball and other rare and unknown sports not played here. If they change everything to football to "please" the locals, it will lower, not increase, the appreciation of cultural variety!
IJshockey wordt hier wel gewoon gespeeld hoor :P Alleen niet zo veel.
True. But that doesn't make his argument less valid.
swampertdeck ikr
Vast wel, het is ook leuk, ik zou alleen echt niet weten waar
Klopt, en honkbal en rugby ook, maar lang niet zoveel als voetbal, hockey of zelfs korfbal. En downie? kom op zeg.
9:48 "Moscow doesn't believe in tears" LOL
6:05 i got koala~~~
army
hi
is your sleep schedule ruined too? 😂
Army is everywhere♡
HAI ARMYYYY
New Zealand got a koala ... seems legit.
Erin Doherty yep
silence of the lambs
i got it wrong the real answer was
the silence of the lambs
mike zolomon no it's
Silence of the lambs
Lil Lilly no it's the silence of the lambs
Triggered NO the movie is... Silence of the Lambs
Does it really matter that much to cause an argument
In Poland we have this "Randal face" cupcakes 😂 (sorry for grammar)
Hania a L I'm polish too
9:44 Louis de Funes and Coluche AHAHAH XD
zootopia was called zootropolis in the UK too
No way! That's so interesting. I think that completely changes the meaning...because "Uptopia" means a "perfect society or place" and "metropolis" just means "a city"....
??? I'm from the uk and it was called Zootopia in cinemas and posters
They only changed it right at the end of all the marketing stuff, a lot of people didn't know the name was changed and many cinemas never bothered to update it either. apparently they had to change the name because there was a zoo in Europe called zootopia
Actually its was Zootropolis in the Cinema here in Britain. I was working there Long before and after it's cinema term...People kept stealing the animals from the standee...It took Emily 2 days to make the thing.
Airplane! was Flying High in Australia. Anywhere else?
I live in the UK and in zootropolis we had a moose newscaster too not a corgi
In some places, it's called zootropolis instead of zootopia
TOOG 07 it's zootropolis
also wtf is a "jagwire"?!
RealKreekJunior! No
George Lewis It was pretty weird to see he didn't add the picture with a corgi and moved on... I looked it up, and it seems to be a rumor from a while ago.
In the U.S version of cars, Harv is voiced by Jeremy piven but in the UK version, he's voiced by Jeremy Clarkson
Changing how the girl loves hockey to loving soccer is doing too much, because she literally had a hockey island and one or her deep memories was when she first skated on ice. I would’ve left it. Who cares if it isn’t as popular everywhere else
In the UK on the DVD, did not see it in the cinema, it was ice hockey so don't know did they have football in the cinema version then keep ice hockey for the DVD
Yeah, you're right.
Yeah. it was hockey in my country (Denmark) as well.
Tammy Stevenson yeah.. in Germany it was hockey although soccer is much more popular. It must have been hard work to replace all hockey scenes with soccer
In my country (Panama) was hockey too.
So thoughtful 😊❤
4:06 Atleast in Finland, it was hockey too.
in Belgium too...
Germany too
In Russia too
hockey♥
As in Hungary - not sure why. Not that I'm disapointed about it, but soccer is a lot more popular here, despite our nation is much better at hockey.
TOy Story segment: The National Anthem and the American Flag in Al's apartment! Totally made in the USA
i love your vids i subscribed and hit the bell
''newscasters voices that kids would recognise''?? dude no kid in the world sits and watches the news....
No but they might hear it in the background while their parents watch.
So true XD!!
That's what you think but I know a lot that are interested in watching the news
Those must be the kids without X boxes or PlayStation's.....
I used to watch news when I was a kid
So Vin learned to say I am Groot in so many languages, but not Bulgarian
DeivForLife he learned how to say in Kazakh but can't say it in on of the biggest languages Arabic
and not German
so?
groot in dutch means big
DeivForLife But he did good in German😄👍
Ummm in the uk it was a moose not a corgi idk where you got that info from lmao
It was a rumor on the internet a while back. It's been disproved since, but y'know. Lack of research. 😓
I was about to say that, but then, it would have been pretty cool if it was a corgi.
Everyone says that there was a corgi, but I can't find it anywhere on the internet
Was it still Peter Moosebridge since Peter Mansbridge was born in London England?
Yeah, we know the Queen's love of corgis - she even brought one with her on her honeymoon ...
2:38 walking in on a test I didn't study for be like:
damn, and there i was thinking the captain america needing to watch sherlock was a nod to benedict cumberbatch as doctor strange
bell He hadn't been cast as Dr Strange then
Zootopia:
US, canada and France - Moose
China - Panda
japan - Tanooky
Australia/New Zealand - Koala
UK - Corgy
Brazil - Jaguar
... so... whats with the rest? like ALL OF AFRICA for example o_O
maybe a giraffe, zebra, gazelle there are many animals that could have been used for Africa.
*Tanuki *Corgi
And I'm pretty sure that leopard has Africa covered.
*Jag Wire
Elephant for Africa
It's a moose in Denmark too
I like broccoli
Lucas Haydo me 2

He must be an alien! They're ALL ALIENS!!

#teambroccolieatingaliens
10:48 What I hear:
"Eep en groot" "NEIN!"
I love in Uruguay and the cupcakes where ''be my pal or dal''
sofía luzzi, really the chanded It on Brazil...
In Peru was the smiley faces
It was supposed to be "be my gal"
how does the soccer fit in with riley? it was a big part of the movie o.o and in the Danish version its still hockey, and we are pretty big on soccer
Madelaine Thomsen it's still hockey in england
Madelaine Thomsen yeah and it's still hockey in finnish version
still hockey in costa rica
It's still hockey in germany
Still hockey in norway
8:22 it's not ocd if you like it, then it's called ocpd
Omg buzzlight looks same like neighbour from the hello neighbour game LOL
Why make such changes? Why not embrace other cultures? Pretty sure people in other countries are aware these are U.S. films. This is tantamount to replacing udon in a Japanese produced movie with hamburgers for an American audience. The newcaster one seems exceptionally unnecessary.
The point is, do Americans embrace movies from other cultures too? Answer: Not really. They love to see american flags waving on their screens and such. And that's perfectly fine. You live in a culture where patriotism is a thing. But the same applies to other countries. We do know that these movies are American, but the moment movies show patriotism or nationalism, lots ( and I mean lots ) of people stop watching. They cannot relate to it, no matter how embrasing theyare. There's no message in the line: "American is great" for europeans or asians, while most Americans get an adrenaline boost when they hear it.
And it's all about making money. So why not change bits to accomodate other cultures? I agree that some of them are not necessary, like product placements. These have nothing to do with culture. But I understand that the american flag was replaced for a globe... And it's up to American movie developers to decide their target group: US citizens only, or the whole world. Propaganda used to show how 'great' a country is, is actually considered a negative thing in other cultures.
German movies from world war 2 also have had lots of nationalism ( patriotism for americans ) How great Germany was. People were forced that information, without having anything to say about it. While this may be a crude example, that is just how some people see American patriotism on movies. It's actually not the blame of other cultures though. They just don't like to be forced to think like them. If it was a movie about American history, yes then I agree. But a movie like Toy Story isn't shouting: "Only watch if you love america". It's an animation ment for children of all ages, worldwide that happens to take place in America. So there is simply no room for propaganda / patriotism. The end credits are there to show how proud you are. Not during a story line, unless it's ontopic.
@@PANTA-Music
That's your problem dude. As an American I, for one, don't like when they do this to other movies from other countries either. In Pokemon, they ate donuts instead of rice balls. Just leave the original thing. Kids won't get it, but they should be able to keep their damn culture.
Zootopias news presenters were animals that were native to the continents that they were going to be released but they didn't bother to think about Africa...
#realworldproblems
Also, theres no mooses in France... just saying
That's because unlike most of the world, Africa sadly doesn't have a big enough population along with the middle east that watches movies.
When I went on vacation to Southern Africa. I saw Zootopia there and they showed a moose for the news scene.
Megan Gawthorpe so true
italian version of Insideout still has hockey, not football. Italian. This makes no sense
giulsrules the spanish version has hockey as well. Doesn't make any sense.
giulsrules Finland version still has Hockey... well that makes alott sense...
I think it is hockey in all versions. They are probably talking about that scene that happens inside the dad's head, where he is thinking about a game. In that particular scene, at least in Brazil, he is thinking about a football game.
Ukrainian version is also hockey, despite football been the #1 sport here.
I think they've literally gotten wrong info. I highly doubt Disney has changed anything.
wow, this is very interesting! its crazy what you have to think of when releasing an american movie across seas. a lot of work. But the more work , the more my respect. awesome video!
Holy crap. Can you imagine being some local newscaster being asked to voice a character on a film? I'd be super excited! lol
I'm British and I always saw the US flag instead of the globe 1:56
Maybe you bought the American version
7.3M views na
7.3M views who buys movies these days we pirate them
Do what you want cause a pirate is free, you are a pirate!
Lots of people see the bootleged versions so there is that question.
Ummmm... In my country Riley was also intrested abpur ice hockey and just that u know ice hockey is very known sport in other countries 2
I'm from Singapore and when Pirates was released here, "Welcome to Singapore" was a meme, all of us were proud we're actually being mentioned in an international movie and we even said that line on our own, among our friends just for memes! Who the hell got offended by that seriously.
i love this so much i live in australia and the toy story thing blew my mind for some reason

I almost died when I heard the voice of a reporter from my favourite news outlet. I'm Australian, so the koala also made me laugh. Zootopia was a good movie
Learnt something new
I love fun facts like that :3
Yes Screen Rant, all these changes we're *purely* done by the studios to simply make the film "more enjoyable"
*Eye roll*
shmaveyea they were done to make the film more enjoyable, what other reason could there ever be? If the films are not made more enjoyable to other countries audiences, the movie makes no revenue there.
More marketable young one. More marketable. Pandering.
8:01 woah I can not believe that that picture was in my textbook
Super interesting! When I saw Winter Soldier, I was wondering what other countries’ moviegoers were seeing.

Woah, the UK's Zootopia had a Corgi?
I wanna see that.
British people watching this video are saying they just got the moose. I suspect it was planned, then cancelled.
Yeah, no. We didn't have a corgi
I did get an American flag when i watched it and i was in Portugal
1:36 Buzz Lightyear
-KITTY!!!!
rocket screaming nein is great, i may have to watch the movie in another language just to hear that
??? The uk cinema version didn't have a corgi, it was a moose
There's no images of the Corgi anywhere, I think maybe it was meant to be a Corgi but it never got made. When I saw it, it was a moose too
Same
I'm from South Africa and Riley plays ice hockey
Disney... you know with your monsters university jokes, you can let us have the english cakes in England.. it’s where the language came from 😂
I'm from Singapore and the Shao Fang "Welcome to Singapore" line was cheered wildly in the cinema i watched it in - the locals loved it, so not really sure where the complains were from!
I swear I have the weirdest case of deja vu

Ich bin Groot 😂😂
Je suis groot
Olen groot
I am groot
It’s kinda cool to look at the comments and see what was changed in each country
I sub and turned on notifications
Wait its not green peppers everywhere??
green peppers are a sweet vegetable in my opinion.
アリンコ。 I love broccoli green pepers are just blah...
Broccoli is odd on pizza in the us, not green peppers. So it’d be less funny here
Yeah it's not everywhere
green peppers are verywhere in the uk, even on pizza. brocolli + pizza is definitly not good!
6:01 White Security wolf in Zootopia in Poland was named Gerald like The Witcher what is also known as White Wolf.
didn't notice that :D
Oh, you... %)
@Nick Did you play (or read) Witcher? Geralt is main character
Nick ah ok xD
Wow, I'm from Chile and I had no idea the original versions were had this differences 😂 I always saw Buzz with the world spinning behind him
The Silence of the lambs! Omg i havent even seen that movie, and i didjnt even know it was a movie, i just somehow knew what it was
I live in England
So when I saw the American flag behind buzz In this film I was puzzled as in England we had the globe🌍
america is unnecessarily patriotic
Hilaryfay20 if you don’t live in America than you shouldn’t be saying that
Andre Martin I grew up in Massachusetts and was born in Rhode Island I’ve spent thanksgivings in Plymouth Massachusetts and the Fourth of July in Plymouth Massachusetts. I am American but I know America isn’t the best country. It’s unnecessary to be as patriotic as we are.
Hilaryfay20 I wouldn’t say unnecessary, it can be over the top a bit, but not unnecessary.
The emojis are silence of the lambs
lol i saw it and said, speaker, sheep, sheep
Technically it would be silence of the rams.
"Ich bin Groot." Okay, that's adorable.
4:06 It was hockey in Australia too
HAMSTER ON A PAINO
I get the reference for once .-.
The ads are too damn much. How many times can I dislike?
Well that changes a few things 😂
3:58
I just realized that Riley’s shirt matches the colors of her emotions!!
So the American Steve Rogers was the only one that saw Star Wars.
I think the Star Wars/Trek line was on all (3?) lists they showed.
_These donuts taste great!_
The Spanish Inquisition Riceballs XD
Waaaaaaaa! I watched monsters university in the Philippines so I did not notice the cupcakes
It was ice hockey here in Hong Kong. And we play both ice hockey, field hockey and football (soccer)...and we saw the full version too...
