I've had a PS4 pro since it came out.
I immediately swapped out the 1TB HDD for a 1TB SSD.
The loading speeds are so nice!
If the PS5 pro doesn't vastly improve on the hardware and software. I might just wait for the ps6.
Tldr. Love my PS4 pro with SSD.

Me too! Pro with evo 870 4 tb and it's only a few seconds slower than my Ps5. Turn on reality creation on a sony tv and try to pick out the difference. Beyond ray tracing they look identical
Exactly the PS4 pro is a impressive system I was little disappointed in the PS5 you can't tell the difference in graphics before next gen consoles used to have a big cap from the previous model like you can see a big difference between PS1 and PS2 but not with the PS4 pro and PS5 I think u might see the big cap with ps6 or PS5 pro if they make that
Likewise, and you can put that PS5 money into PC gaming instead, heck get a Steam Deck. Budget PC gaming has never been better... plus Sony games release on Steam eventually these days.
Same here! Ssd really makes the difference.
The biggest turn off for me was the lack of availability. I would've spent the money for it.. To get from a scalper would've meant risking not having a warranty. So I ended up building a PC and using a Dualshock 4. I'm happy now.

I just bought a ps4 pro! I want a ps5 but I am fed up with competing with these bots, I would rather wait until I can go into a store and buy one easily in one to two years or maybe just wait for the ps5 pro.

When you buy new games, get digital and get the ps5 version. They usually give you the ps4 version free. So you can play now, and have it for ps5 later

An optimized Ps4 Pro (iykyk) with an SSD is still a capable gaming machine today (it's showing it's age at points though) I've had my PS5 with an SSD for about three months now, while I love it It made me appreciate my Pro all that much more. New thermal paste and a new fan after 5 years and she still runs strong and quiet. I'll keep that console forever, it is such a good system.
SSD is overkill. Most games run at 6MBPS and this is why the original hard drive is 8MBPS. SSD has more latancy. I have a 4TB PS4 with 128MBPS HDD and its faster than the original drive. I upgraded my drive for maximum storage so I don't delete games. Storage is more important than load times. Who cares how fast a console loads if it has no games installed? I got over 100 games installed in digial format. I don't have to eject disc, and replace disc drives that fail after a year of use. I'm happy with it. A SSD only makes it load a split second faster.

For having both a PS4 Pro & PS5, I'll guarantee that you'll miss the 5 once the jet engines start up on the Pro. That in my mind is a game changer. I remember being in party chat and those in my chat group could actually hear the Pro's fan.
I have 2 pros going right now and both are dead quiet. If you keep them clean and the thermal paste fresh its not a problem
@@GearsAndTech I took mine and had it cleaned and thermal paste replaced was quiet(er) for a short time. But before long, jet engines again. Possibly the shop I had do the cleaning and thermal paste just did a crap job.

Totally satisfied and still blown away by my PS4 pro. I see no reason at all to spend that much extra for the ps5. The upgrades to the graphics aren’t worth the money, and regarding load times, it doesn’t bother me at all. I’m not hardcore ADD.

I did this. I’ve got a PS5 but I am currently playing a white PS4 Pro with a quality ssd. No particular reason. PS5 is better from a performance perspective. But…. I don’t like the look of the PS5 much. I do like the PS4 Pro very much from a aesthetic perspective. And I enjoy upgrading consoles to see if I can get better performance out of them. Bottom line is I enjoy playing the PS4 Pro more and the performance dropoff from PS5 is something I can live with.
Truthfully, most of my gaming time is spent with my PS3 & Xbox 360. I still spend more time with them than I do any more recent console.
Dude everything you said is so true. All the hype on the new gen consoles has been so misleading… many players think they need to upgrade their TV/monitor with HDMI 2.1. It’s definitely not needed. 30fps to a fixed 60fps is all the upgrade that was needed in console gaming. Even 4K is over hyped. 1080p or 1440p at 60fps is still impressive for console gaming…. As far as ray tracing goes, again another selling feature that’s not needed. I have a PS4 pro & an Xbox one X both have a good selection of games that play phenomenally well at 1080p or 4k at 60fps.

The gap in graphics is very small is an overstatement. The gap is HUGE. 4k 60, VRR, 12 bit color, sound quality (I use their PS5 headset), controller, time to load, UI, PS5 only games, PS5 only games that you get with PS Plus.
Just an example - I play Battlefield 5 on both systems - I have an Alpha chassis PS4 PRO and an Gamma chassis PS5 (I had an Alpha chassis that got stolen). The PS5 has the following advantages - better load times, better texture loading in the distance (I can see things that I can't see on PS4), PS4 is a jet engine in all games because of the chassis, I can hear better, the colors are way better, the HDR is way better, VRR helps me a lot with lag, better controller.

bro… anyone who claims that ps4 pro is a better console than ps5 is in denial or delusional 🤦🏼♂️ i had my ps4 for many years and i replaced it with a ps5 slim (amazing design btw) and them both can’t even compare… the ps5 is so much more powerful and the response time is insane. I can’t even hear the fan when playing games for hours… oh and the controller is just perfect, when i used it for the first time i got blown away 🤯So my honest opinion is to don’t listen too channels who are hating on ps5 for no reason at all and just save up some money and buy that new gen beast of a console! Trust me, you won’t regret it

You can also switch the HDD for a SSD on the PS4 pro and get faster load times, ps5 will still be faster but I’d say only about 15-30sec that’s what I did since I can’t get a ps5

Depending on the kind you get, certain DRAM models can actually be faster on some games over the PS5.
Load time is miles faster on the 5 I have both an I run at 120hz were possible I alway max it out an it handles everything I throw at it with ease would never go back to ps4 pro

PS4 pro is Fifa 22, and PS5 is Fifa 23. Yes, it's that simple. If you have one, don't buy the other. 700+ bucks for tiny little improvements in graphics, it's ridiculous.
I wanted a ps5, couldn’t get one, so I spent some money on a PS4 Slim, and that’s the only ps4 model they still make, and i am satisfied with it completely. I do have a gaming pc now, 5 months after I got my PS4 but I still play my ps4. It’ll be relevant for at least 4-5 more years I bet.

We have a lake cottage and I took my wife's ps4 slim out there to setup for rainy days and Netflix
So she needed something new at the house. Rather than get a regular ps4 I just picked up the pro for her to use.
I looked at a ps5 for her, but really, knowing what I know now about it, I won't be upgrading any more of our systems until a couple years from now just like I said in the video.
I need to keep at least one ps5 still so I can keep content levels up. I'm still eagerly awaiting the internal slot to unlock so I can do a review on that.

Even if ps5 games optimised for ps4 pro the pro console will struggle to keep a solid performance! Have you played gta online on ps4 pro ? The frames goes down a lot like 26 fps :) so I wouldn’t say its 100% correct to upgrade to pro console cuz eventually the ps4 will fade away more faster because games like far cry 6 or battlefield 2042 will probably just be 4k 30fps at pro console so 30 fps is becoming really bad ! And about storage like really is storage so important? Ps5 is a whole different power and faster
A PS4 Pro even with an M.2 gen4 Ssd still cant compete with a PS5. I loved my Pro like crazy afew years ago, but all that love goes towards my PS5 now lol.

I agree with everything you said. as a gamer who is about the experience, after feeling that haptic feedback of the p5 controller made me want to get it even more. But holding off on a ps4 pro isn’t a bad move either. It still has most the capabilities a next gen console has, for me i would rather put the money i have to a newer console anyway. At retail price ofcourse.

Glad I bought my PS4 Pro but held back on new.. I wanted to see what it could do first (£300 for pro, PSVR, Camera and 2 Move controllers)... Next upgrade is a 8Tb SSD Samsung Evo drive.. Already have PSVR and Pinball games Pinball FX VR2 and many more PSVR).. Need SSD for Witcher 3 and more games still being developed.. There is life in the old dog yet!!!.. I know your coment is 2 months old but i doubt there will be a ps5 pro cause the Xbox Series S exists. The reason PS4 got a Pro was cause the Base couldnt keep up with the games but since the games will be forced to run on the Xbox Series S too this generation it dosent make sense. You cant create games that run well on the Series S but are in need of that power a PS5 pro would give.

Only Microsoft requires games to run on both the series s and x. Sony has an opportunity to license some amazing exclusives so studios can really push the system and not have to pander to the series s
@@GearsAndTech The exclusives wont be enough reason to justify a Pro version thou. if the game is optimized for the hardware the game will look incredible on Ps5 already. just look at god of war on base ps4 this system has only a tenth of the power a ps5 has. (didnt google the exact power difference).
I just got a used ps4 pro. I here just to make myself feel better for not splurging on the new console. Saved 300 bucks too. And games are less than 10 bucks for most ps exclusives I’m aiming for.
I had a playstation 5 but when i was playing it turned of and now it doesn't do anything anymore. So repair costs are €275 euro's.
And one other thing the playstation 5 has a warranty of 1 year. (This is what sony told me).
So with the current price and deal i could found i bought a ps 4 pro because it was €241 with
30 days reflection period and also 1 year warranty. Maybe the ps5 is better and faster but if it breaks you lose quite a lot of money and I think the warranty period is to short.
From watching this video it's helped me make up my mind that I should wait for a ps5 I wanted to buy one for my birthday. I'll wait and see what sony do for storage and games come 2023. I bought my ps4pro at launch and its still working great.

The PS5 is pretty available here in switzerland, actually it was always available but the price is around 1k.
It’s almost the same like back in the PS2 era. My dad payed 750 CHF for the Fat Boy, so compared today, ergo the inflation rate, it’s around the same price for a PS5.

I just got one second hand. There is currently only two future games coming that I care about. Gt7 and the new test drive and both of them are coming to the ps4 pro. No brainer really.

I'm not sure where you saw that "Sony promised" that PS5 will do "Ray Tracing and 120fps". They only claimed that the hardware is capable of running Ray Tracing, UP to 120fps, and 4K. They never claimed that the PS5 will run every game with all those features enabled.They left all those features up to the developers. That's why we have different modes we can select for games..

@@GearsAndTech 3:13 you're stating the system "can't deliver 120fps and Ray Tracing". Sony never made such promise. It just said it can do 4K, RT, and 120fps. The console is not capable of running all those features at the SAME TIME. When RT is enabled, games get locked at 4K 30..When it's disabled, games can run at 4K 60-120fps. No console can run such high specs..you failed to do your research on the PS5. I don't see a contradiction at all. But most of your points are fair and valid..

Well,news flash..... The ps5 can't either!
This video points out all the right reasons to wait for a PS5 pro.
I would also add an Evo 860 into your ps4 pro so you can get much faster load times.
One thing that's good about the ps5 is that it forces developers to add faster load times and support för SSD HDD on ps4 pro too.
So you'll benefit from what the PS5 forces devs to implement into their games not as fast as on a PS5 but 5-10 times faster than a normal ps4 pro HDD.
Another thing that I think is important to upgrade on your ps4 pro is the controller.
The ps4 controller is cheap and poor, it does the job but nothing else.
For people who want more I suggest to get the Raiju Ultimate from Razer or the C40 TR from Astro.
Yeah, they cost a bit but believe it's worth it, I can't even use a normal ps4 controller these days. It's that much difference.
This way, having a PS4 pro with a 2TB SSD installed, a Profesional controller and a good modern 2021-2022 tv will make your ps4 pro look and feel like a next gen experience.
Wait for the ps5 PRO it's going to piss all over the PS5 specs, guaranteed!

Wait for a Ps5 pro what doesnt exist. How do you know there will be any? There was not any ps2 or ps3 pro console, why would be there a ps5 pro. And maybe, if they drop a Ps5 pro into the market, it will be more harder to get those. I think we wont see any Ps5 pro in the near future, at least 3-5 years, because of the global issues. For example there are only a few chips, a lot of resources missing and it cost a way more for them. Dunno.
I think Sony should keep selling the PS4 pro and reduce the price. It would be a good idea to keep it as a cheaper model since its still a very capable console. Maybe upgrade the HDD's to SSD's from the factory and install better cooling. They can definitely still run new games well. I just hate the move they are pulling by still selling PS4 slims and pros even though they will probably stop getting games in 3 years. Lowering the price to $299 or $249 and upgrading what they can would make the PS4 Pro a great entry level system and would be good for the environment by not creating a whole new system to fill that gap. By capable I mean it would cost more to build a gaming PC of the same specs as the PS4 Pro than it would to just buy a PS4 Pro. For the price, its an amazing system even in 2022.
Even with the news today for the PS5 Slim, with no price drop - it's even more expensive!, a PS4 Pro with a SSD is still compelling. Still looks stunning, runs well enough for sure w/ both performance and 4K options, plus for 1080p TV owners there's no point for a PS5 really.

Great Points, I own a Pro, but the main game I want to purchase right now is Elden Ring which does not run at 60fps on the Pro (only 30fps), and I love Destiny 2 pvp and again, it only runs at 30fps where it runs at 60fps (or better?) on the PS5. And, I would like a 4k movie player, which was a major let down when the ps4 didn't get it (and again when it wasn't announced for the pro upgrade). So for me, the purchase of a ps5 is a bit more significant as it offers quite a bit more for my gaming and movie experience.

I tried D2 on steam on older computer, and I can't believe the load and game was so much smoother than PS4 and get to change fov slider. But that means I have to rebuy all dlc. Lol. Still thinking about ps5

There is very little difference in visuals on the two setups. Even though I have Ray tracing turned on.
In fact, my game starts stuttering down to 15 fps for about 5 seconds at a time frequently and hers has no stutter at all.
I don't have a cooling issue. And I'm hard wired in with gigabit internet. So, I think it's just the gpu chugging through some code that isn't optimized right. Fortunately it doesn't crash. But hers never has a problem

That isn't normal, figured you would book that as a tech guy. I had an original ps4 so I see a huge difference in 4k. Not sure why you don't but happy gaming and get a proper working ps5 when up can
I only notice it when playing local multiplayer (true lan style). So maybe it's an issue with that. Not the many guys use it like this, so texting would be difficult

For PS4 PRO owners like me, some personal advice.
1) Better play using a 1080p 60Hz display (TV or PC Monitor)
2) Disable "Super Sampling" whilst enabling Boost Mode.
You will see not only better FPS, but have a better experience as the PS4 PRO will NOT make so much noise.
And I agree that in terms of VFF (value for money) the PS4 PRO is a better deal than a super expensive PS5 (within a year or two we should be seeing upgraded models like a PS5 Slim or smth like that)

If your room temperature is below 25 degrees Celsius then you could consider Enabling Super Sampling for some games.
Enabling Super Sampling will improve image quality.
The problem with Super Sampling is that the PS4 PRO will generate more heat and that will put stress on it.
And in some games such as The Last of Us 2 or Red Dead Redemption 2 the noise may be too much.
In fighting games such as Mortal Kombat 11 or FPS games such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 the frame rate is very important therefore I turn off Super Sampling. Having a higher frame rate and a more stable frame time (the one measured in ms) is in my opinion more important than the image quality. After all in both fighting games and FPS games, you move so fast where you never get to appreciate all the details of a still image (unlike playing eg RDR2)
There's a MAJOR difference in graphics/resolution and overall performance when comparing ps4 pro vs ps5 when it comes to Cross NextGen titles such as Horizon Forbidden West for example. The ps5 will continue to come on top in any furute comparison with any cross gen title, ( esp the ones coming from first party devs ). Your arguments are valid and can only be based upon last gen titles which have an ps5 upgrade option. These titles only got a slight improvement in frame rate performances on ps5 and nothing else. Entering 2022, it would be a total waste buying a ps4 pro, as many games that are utilising the ps5 horsepower and tech won't be providing the same experience on last gen consoles ( even if some wil end up cross gen titles) further more, true next gen exclusives are planned on being released this year on ps5 only, so throwing away 250-300$ on ps4 pro is the dumbest thing anyone can do in 2022. Your advice could have been relevant back in 2020, not now.

The lack of Bluetooth headset support on the ps5 was a real disappointment for me. Ps4 pro is easier to travel with too.

I had saved up around $500 earlier this year with the intention of buying a PS5 Digital edition, but ended up buying a PS4 Slim instead to save some money and because there were none in stock, and I think I made the smart decision. With all the current games being released on the PS4, it doesn't make sense to upgrade just yet. I think anyone who has a PS4 right now can safely hold off on getting a PS5 for another 3 years. (or until 2025) The main reason being the shortage of parts to build the systems but also because there arent many people who have the new systems to actually convince game studios to fully switch to the next generation. In fact if they did, the entire PS4 user-base would become obsolete and only a small fraction of the population would actually be able to play the new games. It would basically be suicide for these companies. This is why they are still developing for the last generation and I think its also a good move for the environment. I don't wanna see a bunch of PS4's being sent to a closet for 10 years just to be thrown away after. That already happened with a bunch of PS3's.

I bought a PS4 PRO and threw a 1TB Samsung EVO SSD in it and added the Sony O/S back onto it from files on the Sony website.
It loads games as fast as the PS5. All the games on the market right now were developed for the PS4 and ported to PS5, so you barely notice any graphical differences.

I've still got my PS4 Pro which I upgraded to both an internal SSD (1TB) and an external M.2 SSD (2TB) that plays every single game I'd ever want to play on the PS5 that my partner has. We regularly play against/with each other using out respective systems (they're a room apart) and I'm at no disadvantage at all. The graphics are great, the game play smooth and the loading time so minimal it's a non event. My partners even played on it and was a bit miffed he went for the PS5 so soon (I'm actually using his former PS4 Pro, lol). PS5 is a better system, no doubt, but it's still not a necessity even a year after you posted this video. Oh and Sony confirmed that games will still be produced for the PS4/Pro up until 2025. Can't ask for more than that!

I’m not entirely sure I agree with your logic here but hey it’s your money, do whatever makes you/wife happy! I will say one of the BIG differences is PRICING here in the states. IF you can find a PS4 pro here, it’s going to run you well over $300 (idk why they’re still so expensive) plus I’m not a huge fan of buying USED game consoles from people because a LOT of people don’t properly maintain them etc. not to mention the INSANELY LOUD FAN on the PS4 Pro is something I’m REALLY not a fan of. As a fully disabled combat veteran who lives on a very fixed income, it took me TWO YEARS to save up for my PS5 disc edition and I was FINALLY able to get it 34 days ago. I personally LOVE IT and wouldn’t go back to the PS4 or PS4 pro!!

I swapped my ps4 slim to a pro last june and Im loving it! Basically I only want to experience higher resolution gaming on my 4k TV and Im satisfied.. 30fps dont bother me on single player games at all.. and I only play battlefield V for multiplayer and its already 60fps on pro! I'd get a PS5 once sony stops releasing games for it.. we still got Horizon Forbidden west and God of War Ragnarok coming on ps4 so im not excited for a ps5 just yet

Ps5 is amazing no matter what you say. Im someone who has both the ps4 pro and a ps5. The PS5 hands down is 10x more superior, if not better for the haptics and adaptive triggers and 3D audio. A locked 60fps on every game is a win for me. Screw the PS4 pro. And the 120 fps I got to work on fortnite which supports it but it sacrifices a lot of brightness.
If you have already PS5, definitely I would not trade it for PS4 Pro+ some extra cache. Regarding of games, I got it, that most of games are cross gen due to supply shortage of PS5 in past, but some games start to be purely exclusive only for current gen. For example DLC to new Horizont will not be released on PS4/Pro, also CP77 have got nextgen update, not to mention Ratchet and Clank, which is showcase of PS5 graphics. Regarding of 4k and 120fps, C'mon , have been here really somebody around, who can thing, that this generation for this money can deliver what can deliver only GForce RTX 4090? 4k/120fps only for price of PS2/PS3 graphics quality level. 😀

I bought a Series X as PS5 was so scarce. It’s a great system but there’s so little I want to play on it. I’ve gone back to my PS4 Pro today and it still looks, plays, great. What does stand out are the load time (ages) and the fan kicking in all the time.

Snagged a ps4 pro a couple days ago for $150cdn with a controller, all in mint condition, literally 2 blocks away from me. Couldn't be happier. And I used to own a PS5 as well, but sold it a year and a half in, lol.

New Ratchet & Clank with raytracing on in performance mode gets between 90-110 fps. Looks great. Miles Morales is similiar. Add in the Dual Sense and the PS5 really shows its next gen power. PS4 Pro is still great though until more exclusives on PS5.
In Mid 2020 I decided to just get a PS4 Pro instead if PS5, I got a large amount of the game's I wanted with the console. In the end the price was still under the PS5 price. I realised there was gonna be space issues and that any technical issues will be addressed within the next 5yrs. I need a better television before I change system's, my TV is only 1080p 60Hrz so a PS5 would've had graphical issues. When I get the 4k TV my Pro will look great, next I'm going to upgrade my PS4 Pro's SSD for more space and load time performance. Then in a few year's all my game's I've collected will be updated on my PS5, now there's a slim and soon a Pro so I made the right decision

Things I have against the PS5 . 1. not enough storage you don't event get a Terabyte of space , you get a little over 800 gigabytes and the system takes away a nice chunk to run the system. 2. The remote control does not last long, you have to keep charging it every day at least twice. I bought another controller for this reason, once one remote control loses power I charge it and use the other. 3. The console is too big and heavy, not a big deal but if you place it vertically there's a chance you may drop it at some point and break it. I have put mine horizontal. 4. games take a lot space from your disk storage. 5. External storage only works for PS4 games you need to buy a very expensive SSD external storage drive to put all your PS5 games after your drive runs out of space.
#4: All next-gen games are coming in bigger and fatter. This is hardly the fault of Sony or the PS5.
#5: Meh, the internal drive can’t be swapped, but the minute you add an internal PCIe NVMe M.2 Gen4x4 SSD, its all gravy. The “it can only play PS4 games” thing only matters if you want to use a USB _corded_ secondary drive. Thats only practical if one wants to store media and transfer it to a соmputеr later for editing. In which case one should *first* buy a new internal drive to supplement the system drive. A 2TB PCIe NVMe M.2 Gen4x4 @ ~7k R / ~6k W will only set one back about $200. A worthwhile investment for the system.

1: 1080p is a downgrade from 4k. If anything, thats the fault of the individual game software, not a limitation of of the PS5.
2: Saved data is not locked behind PS+, only PS Cloud storage is. Your argument is you are too cheap to pay for a service offered, thats not a detriment of the system, but of your wallet. You can physically port your saves by simply using a USB drive.
3: I do miss themes, they helped personalize the interior of the system. That’s not a performance gripe, that’s an esthetics gripe.
4: All controllers develop stick drift. It’s inevitable with the use of L3 / R3. Acting as if this problem is exclusive to the PS system is disingenuous.
5: One can sort their games by genre by simply going to Game Library ⇨ Your Collection ⇨ Sort Filter ⇨ Sort By ⇨ Genre. One can even make Game Lists which work much the same as having ‘folders,’ though I would prefer it would show my Game Lists under Installed or under the main Game Bar.
6: Yes, this over-reliance on PSN network connectivity is to me a problem. I may want to clone a PS5 drive and install it in an alternate location. Games one buys digitally will be locked unless one connects, so internet becomes mandatory. I don’t like that.

If you’ve paid for your PS+ Cloud storage, what exactly is your complaint? You only need it _once_ when upgrading from a 4Pro to a 5. The argument is only ‘senseless’ because only a fool would be playing a game on both a 4Pro and 5 and wanting cross-gen progression, instead of sticking to just one, for whatever reason. I skipped the PS4 generation completely so the PS5 feels like a big deal me from my PS3. But looking at Ragnarok and how well the PS4 version plays albeit at 30FPS, I can see why anyone with a PS4 pro would still be holding off. I'm probably not going to upgrade again until PS7.

I sold my PS4 Pro when the PS5 was announced as having backward compatibility.

Won't be coming out for a long time man. The most powerful version of a console usually always comes out near the end of a console's life cycle. At that point might as well wait for the PS6.
I really should revisit titles on my PS3. Was a very good console to play on. The most recent thing I did to it was to install a 1TB SSD in it. Then of course I played a bit of Tales of Symphonia.
Truth is until later in 2023 to 2024 ps5 not necessary for gameplay as most ps5 games are upgraded ps4 games but all the benefits like fast system boot and little to no game loading times as well as smoother gameplay an solid 60fps of ps5 are worth it for the little higher cost than good ps4 pro costs, the ps5 controller is great
I have a PS4 Pro system and I was skeptical at first on getting a PS5 or not. This video opened my eyes. I guess its better to wait for the next iteration of Sony console. Also I believe there might be a PS5 Pro in development with insane specs, which could be 4K @120 frames as Promised. I would love to get my hands on the latest DualSense controller and experience it. Unfortunately games aren't made that can utilise the full potential of the console. Very few games like TLOU 1,2 or GTA V, Cyberpunk 2077 or CoD gets an upgrade. Whats erks me the most is the storage space u get on the Internal SSD and paying more money to buy an expandable SSD seems terrible for some people. You can call me insane, but i feel like PS5 seems like the base console ver. like PS4. When the PS5 Pro model comes out it'll definitely have fixes, patches and improvements. Not saying PS5 isn't great. By the time PS5 Pro comes out the base model will be more affordable and will be in stock also the prices of SSD should come down.

Some of your points are well made but having had a PS4 Pro since 2017 and now having a PS5 I have a different view. One of the things I hated about the Pro was the fan. I play Warzone and BOCW too and just sitting at the Warzone intro screen and not even playing a game the fan was hammering away like a turbine. It overheated more than once and I had to take it apart and clean the fan blades to get it working again. The PS5 is almost completely quiet. The back buttons are not an issue. Warzone is a PS4 game and I just play the PS4 version of BOCW. I can't tell the difference anyway and my Sony buttons on a PS4 controller are fully supported on the PS5. I have a PS4 2 TB backup drive which works perfectly and will never buy a solid state drive for the machine. It's true that PS5 games are pretty rare but the future looks great for games like Horizon Zero Dawn that will be out in much less time than a year or 2. Now that I have a PS5 I could never go back to a PS4 Pro. I also got $240 at EB Games in Canada for the Pro which lowered the cost of the new machine . Also the new version of Warzone now supports 120 HZ on an HDMI 2.1 TV. on the PS5. No monitors yet but that will come.

Fan was loud for 2 reasons. Dust and the need of thermal paste. Get those 2 things fixed and you barely hear the pro.

PS4 Pro with possibly upgrade to 1Tb SSD is probably the best answer until the PS5 Slim/Pro.

Thanks for the info that has made my mind up. I didn't know whether to get a PS4 Pro or a PS5 because I thought the new console would be far superior. After watching this video, I'll be shopping for the Pro because in the UK the stores are always out of stock of PS5s, and you can only get them from scalpers for ridiculous prices, so thank you 👍
Or you should order the Ps5 from the official Sony website. Yes it takes a few months, but it worth it. You won't get any Ps5 in the close future. It took me some months as well.

I bought my PS5 solely because of PSVR 2. You will never get that with PS4 pro. I got my PS5 from Amazon and I am GLAD that I FINALLY own one. :)
I just got 2 pros for the price of one ps5. Haha. And tons of ps4 games are available and still releasing all through 2023.

I got a PS4 Pro with 10 games for 300 USD with free shipping from a streamer on Instagram. I needed a PlayStation system to replace my Xbox One. Totally worth it while I was waiting for PS5. Now that I have a PS5 I use the PS4 Pro to remote play the PS5 which is in a different room. I can also use the PS5 to remote play the PS4 Pro.

The points you discuss in this video are completely true and I totally agree with you.
You are completely right in saying that people who don't own a Pro or PS5, go for PS5 but for existing PS4 Pro owners, the only thing they are missing is 60 FPS on some last gen titles (Not even many titles as Sony doesn't have anything like Xbox's FPS boost) and whatever new games are releasing.
Visually the games are almost identical and If you have a Pro, you are fairing better because of the Higher Resolutions compared to poor resolution in base PS4 games.
So yeah good video man! This video is not targeted for existing PS5 owners but people who own a PS4 Pro and are wondering if they should upgrade to PS5.

@@NenekTerbang1 Yeah you can definitely do that if PS5 are super expensive and not available and PS4 Pro is available at a good price. You can even go for a 2nd hand console just to play the exclusives as they are really good games!
Ur kinda wrong the ps4 pro does have a fps boost but it doesn’t go to 60fps tho I think it only hit 45fps which is not bad
PS4 Pro has Super Sampling And Boost Mode.
It also has Performance Mode 60fps and Quality Mode 30fps just like the Ps5 on a lot of games.
A PS4 comes in handy when there are hardly any PS5 consoles in stock in stores.
Got my ps4 Pro on launch day its a good machine but compared to my ps5 it's way out dated. I've still got my pro but haven't used it much since since I got ps5. There's no contest
Since I only have a 55 inch 1080p Tv, my ps4 pro is still preferred to my ps5 as my ps5 reverts to base ps4 mode instead of supersampling my ps4 pro enhanced games to my 1080p Tv
I was a PC gamer a few years back and I still remember I bought the PS4 slim because of 1 game and 1 game only: Bloodborne
I wanted that game so bad that I stopped gaming on PC entirely because of Bloodborne.
Now, I just bought the PS5 a couple of days ago, again, because of 1 game: Demon Souls Remake.
In conclusion, Sony knows what they're doing.
@Gears and Tech: First off, thank you for your video and the insights you present. Very informative. However, I did make the mistake of checking out Horizon Forbidden West on a friends PS5 with the new controller and adaptive triggers, and like you said ... it definitely made me want a PS5.
TLDR: I currently have a regular PS4 and would really only need the digital version of the PS5. I looked up prices for PS4 Pro's at GameStop (probably not the best place to look, but that's what I did really quick). A refurbished PS4 Pro is $350 - on sale now though, I'm guessing for Black Friday, for $300. A used PS4 Pro is regularly priced at $400 and also on sale for $300 at this time. Both of them are 1TB HDD's. If I wanted to replace the HDD with an above-average to high-end SSD, that's another $85-$150. The total ON SALE price for a PS4 Pro plus SSD would be $385-$450, with regular price being somewhere between $435-$550 for the console and SSD.
I'm only using GameStop prices for the console and then New Egg and Amazon for the 1TB SSD, so I'm sure prices can vary; however, if it's going to cost a little less (like $100), if not the same, to purchase a PS5 compared to the alternative, I'll just get a PS5. Not to mention that PlayStation has PS5's for sale at this very moment. The digital versions are sold out, but you can still get a GoW Ragnarok or COD bundle (disk or digital) or the regular disk version PS5 by going to PlayStation online and logging in with your PS account.
Again, I appreciate the video and your argument, but for those who have a regular PS4 it may be in their better interest to go straight for a PS5. That's just my two cents though.

The price difference right now between one another its about $ 200 - 330, both consoles are insanely expensive in their respective areas, with the price of a PS4 Pro you can get a series X and its way better, even a way cheaper and also better new gen series S, I made this points just for said the facts because all of us here want a ps4 / 5, in the case of the PS5, is overpriced because they created demand because an apparently lack of consoles so that increased the price and now in 2023 its the demand / premium product that justify the high price (well played Sony), they just want to get the most of the situation $$$ until the new design of ps5 arrives ( PS5 Slim / Pro ) then is when the prices should go down, could be for the PS4 Pro, ps5 first model, or both... anyway, right now both consoles are overpriced, im gonna buy one just for playing all the exclusives so, maybe if in couple of months the PS5 prices drops at least $100 -150 I'll definitely go for it... but lets be honest that will not happen minimum at the second half of this year if Sony decide to realese the new models... im saving a special bucks for my first PS, even tho im only gonna use it for play the exclusives im excited, so whatever comes first, the drop in prices for the ps5 or the amount for the PS4 Pro 😅
I just upgraded from an Xbox 360 to the ps5. I'm good now.
