- Newport Beach Media tested the new DJI Phantom 4 drone flying full speed in Sport Mode and engaging Active Track in Newport Beach, Orange County, California.
There's a lot to like on this little non Pro DJI Phantom drone. We're flying in Newport Beach alongside some of the Southern California's finest real estate. Enjoy the 4K drone video.

Great video, thank you for sharing!
Wow that's amazing!!!
I liked this video mate, thumbs up. Cheers from the IGY Simpson Bay Marina, Sint Maarten in the Caribbean.
Just went to Laguna a few weeks ago with mine! Great footage! Next stop, Newport! I love Newport so much.
Ill be there in two months, I cant wait. Ill be getting my p4 in 2 weeks
Awesome I'm saving for one right now 😋
+Creative Films Make sure to get the one w/ extra batteries ebay.to/1TKlfmF
By far the best drone around for it's price. Much better functions then some of it's competitors. The Tap Fly process alone make this unit well worth the price.
Your movie is a wonderful, I was moved.
Full Speed perfectly.....
Love the p4 I just got mine 2 days ago just gotta find some fpv goggles and I'll be flying like crazy
They should have it by now but idk well have to see if my fat shark hd will work I know I made it possible with the inspire 1 but the phantoms I miss going fpv
Nice demo! Subscribed👍🏻
What a nice place, those houses at the edge of the cliff!
awesome video, I got my Phantom 3 four days before they came out with the 4... so jealous
+Newport Beach Media thank you

Bellissimo!
Awesome video ! good job
+Newport Beach Media ?
Nice demo!
Great video
Excellent footage, editing, and demonstration of the various modes! Also, I love the music you mixed in - would love to know artist and title? Subscribed!
Comprei o meu. Perfeito, emocionante. Estou em Sobral, no Ceará, Brasil.
Nice vídeo and effects...What the program do you use?
nice very nice I like.
Great video and amazing view. What's the song?
+Newport Beach Media You sure this is what title because I can not find.
I wish if i waa a drone and fly everywhere
good~~~
So max Active Track speed is 22mph before objects start pulling away correct? There's no way to use Sport Mode speed with AT I'd assume (I haven't had time to try it out in an open area to see). Great place to see some footage. Hoping to take it out here up in the hiking mountains in Scottsdale, AZ!
Did anyone else notice the delayed freakout of the guy in the orange shorts at the start of this video? 0:07
Did you use any ND filters? Great video!
Nice
What song is this? I love it, just got a phantom 4 and posted my video :D
+Ivar ”TheNoobCat” Myrberg oh i found it in the comments haha thanks and awesome video :D
How much did you buy yours for? Just curious! Awesome video!
Tibialstone7 he has the phantom 4 and the phantom 4 sells for 1,100$.
How do you get the horizon perfectly level? I have calibrated gimbal, imu, compass and it is in follow mode. What has your experience been?
there should be an option in the app where you can adjust the roll of the gimbal
thanks for the advice but it snaps back, its a problem inherant to the drone even after imu calibration
Why are almost all videos with P4 shot in sunset, where everything get underexposed ?!
+Newport Beach Media Whats this song?
whats the music track name ?
What is the difference between sport mode and other flight modes? Is it faster or something?
Yes, P4 tilts 45 degrees in Sport mode, more responsive. Get you out to where you need to be quick :)
can you turn traction control fully off?
Dumb question- How do you enable sport mode? also how do you enable active track?
+Newport Beach Media Thanks for the help!
It sucks that they don't have a 2.7k at 60 fps. that would make this so much smoother! That is the only reason why I'm looking into the Karma.
Well I've found the dumbest comment in the feed
hi just wondering what may distance you have gotten out to i have a p4 and mine losses signal after about 800meters ?
At the ocean w little interference about 5,000ft or 1 mile. In the city about 3,000 feet on a good day. Hope that helps.
Would you reccomend this or the inspire 1 v 2.0
It's a personal choice, for me P4 is better option. It fits in my backpack, the cameras on the P4 and Inspire 1 v2 are almost identical and I don't need 2nd camera operator. We rarely have any windy days in my area and flight time on P4 is awesome (25+ min).
I would rather consider the Inspire Pro camera w micro 4/3 sensor and lens options that'll do better when shooting in low light but they're closer to $4K and flight time is only 15min, I'm hoping for a mini Inspire 1 Pro solution sized down to footprint of the P4 that can fly 20+ min, might be a long wait though :)
Ok thanks!
Does the "Return to home" function work while flying in sports mode.
Thank you!
Hi, yes I believe the RTH feature always works (w sufficient GPS)
does return home Mode still work in sport mode and does it self hover
Yes, I believe RTH still works but forward collision detection is turned off in Sport Mode.
Will regular follow me work
what is the max altitude in sport mode?
Not sure, but our ceiling per FAA is 400ft, so that's about as high as I go but it get's there pretty quick in Sport mode.
Interesting thing dogs go nuts because of the sonar. It same high pitch as a dog whistle. So keep in mind dogs hate this sound.
what sucks is that the camera is always slighlty tilted dowm to avoid filming props. so you cant get a good sunset shot without allot of ground in it. if someone know how to overide please contact me. thanks, ricardo
+Newport Beach Media im talking about level flight in one spot you cant get a shot without allot of ground in the still/vid.. Some thing i was spoiled with on my DJI 55o flywheel sporting the go pro series. anyways my post was to get info on maybe extending the gimbal range to level with the aircraft instead of a frustrating slight tilt down. anything on that?
does collision detection still work in sport mode?
bushgreen no I dont think so
No
