+brian whittle The stupid thing is Casey had a Phantom 3 pro (which isn't that much different) but he didn't use it. It wasn't until he got the Phantom 4 that he started to add daily drone footage....and I don't buy the story it's because the propellers come off easily, the P3 props are easy to take off too. Has he uploaded any drone footage where he isn't breaking the law? Mexico maybe?
One of the best Drone reviews i have ever watched. It was extremely informative, answered all the immediate questions one would want to ask. It was truly a pleasure watching this review as it left me with less questions as opposed to most commonly..more questions. Your video review Spanks bro!
Excellent video thanks! This is the 4th drone I have had, 1 Phantom 1, 2 Phantom 2's, and now this.... TOTALLY IMPRESSED! I must buy! So glad the GoPro is history.
"Let's build computers, it's cheaper and performs better than buying pre-built!" "Lets buy a DJI, it's more expensive and performs worse than building one!" What? I love LMG but this is dumb. Please don't make a video like this and try and act like experts. Everyone will still love your video's as much. Also people don't jump on me when responding, I'm far from a expert. But then again, I'm saying that I'm not, and also not making a video that will get hundreds of thousands of views. Simply a suggestion LMG! Love you guys!
Its also pretty durable, found this out as i crashed it into a tiny tree branch and it spun itself into a larger branch. It only broke 1 prop, and that was from getting it out of the tree, lol. dont buy these things unless you're prepared to crash them at some point, i did and i have many years of experience with RC. GREAT drone, and spot on review linus!
I used to work at a pawn shop. I bought a dji phantom 3. Dude had never even used it. I got to take it out back and do test flights for two hours. Coolest thing ever.
For the object following, couldn't there be a little tracking chip or something, that you could put onto the object you'd want it to follow? Then it would be hard to loose it.
+Unstoppable Pigeon I mean you could. But that wouldn't solve the obstacle issues. That would help tremendously for positional tracking, but if you want it to follow you, or another object at a relatively low distance that won't help with avoiding obstacles or maneuvering.
+Unstoppable Pigeon but as for what you're suggesting, using a 'tracking' chip attached to the operator wouldn't allow for pathfinding, unless you had a satalite with live image feed targeted on you (which would be obscenely expensive). pathfinding would only work, if it had line of sight image tracking (which it does now) or if it had details about every little thing surrounding it. which, isn't possible using a GPS chip
I have Phantom 4. Its fantastic drone, smart as human. I really like it. I wanted to fly with it right now, but i picked my iPad watched some vids and found this. I am recomending Phantom 4 it has a lot of great features.
I have a buddy who flies for CBS. he does mostly golf and disc golf, but will be doing an upcoming rally race soon. the FAA registrations are a huge holdup.
please review Z170 motherboards. Linus your Motherboard reviews were amazing, and I have no clue why you quit doing those. Motherboards i'd very much appreciate if you'd review: Z170-a Z170 gaming K3 motherboard on a budget etc etc. Also another idea, consider explaining whether SLI (today and in the future) is worth it.
there's quite a few videos concerning the cost of SLI. I know they dont have that LTT touch, but its similar to beating a dead horse. check out JayzTwoCents

Good review Linus. Only one tip. Transportation Canada has a list of rules regarding model aircraft & UAV flying including that you must fly 150 metres away from vehicles, buildings, people, etc. Just a tip as you are filming scenes that are violation of the rules (up to $25,000 fine).
JasonPlays I hadn't seen the Inspire 1 when I posted my comment but yes it is. The Inspire 1 is much better if you get it with the X5 camera, but only if you're getting into aerial photography. Which I am.
Different beasts. Phantom is good as a point/shoot, throw on a back pack etc. The Inspire 1 pro, where you can change lens etc, great tool for Film/TV etc, but twitchy, and a pain to travel with.
If you are looking into getting your first drone and you have never flown before, got a Syma X5 on Amazon, you can get one for under $50 and it's practically indestructible, so you can learn to fly a drone properly on that. After you have learned to fly, I recommend getting the DJI Phantom 3 Standard which you can get for as low as $450 on Amazon. This drone has a 2.7K camera and a perfect 3-axis stabilization gimbal that will give you footage that is as perfect as the Phantom 4. The video downlink isn't as good, the controller has far less range and it also doesn't have the optical sensors that the P4 does, but it does come with a waypoint mode and return to home if something goes wrong. It is the best value for an aerial photography drone out there, and I am still using a Phantom 1, and if was able to, I would buy a Phantom 3 standard as an UPGRADE to what I have now.
It's been a good idea to wait to get into drones. In just a few years they've made huge leaps in advancements. Though... for 2000 CAD, I sure as hell hope you're getting everything plus the kitchen sink in the package.
+Bendik Eidshaug It depends on your case and your airflow , if you have no fans in your case expect the one on ur PSU and CPU and GPU it's better to have the case open HOWEVER it gets really dusty , if you DO have extra fans it's better with the case closed
+Bendik Eidshaug Bit-Tech.net covered this many years ago, obviously the specs of modern stuff these days has changed drastically, but they offered a great insight. They found that it was quite beneficial to have a side panel with a cooling fan, and found that the side fan was more beneficial than any other fan (against t-delta). This is going to change a lot depending on the other components of course. Do your own test with your own rig, use your preferred monitoring software and grab a cheap digital thermometer along side it (you don't need an expensive one, you are going to be comparing it against itself) - you can use it to get ambient temps before each run and put it in the case while running a bench and compare the deltas, In the PC with it benching, in the PC benching with no side panel, in the PC with side panel with a fan. Each time checking the ambient temperature and comparing it against each run. The closer you can get the case to ambient temperature the better, and it's as simple as that really.
Jon Simmons Thanks for the insight. Just wish what you wrote here was a script for a new Luke cooling test video that actually might provide conclusive differences in results :)
At this time I think the Phantom 3 Pro is a better bang for the buck. They are down to $799 and lower currently. I bought my P3P about 2 months ago and absolutely love it!!!
Love my Phantom 2, I'm using 2.4 ghz for the video feed and had to do some soldering but it works well. The wifi solutions offered are terrible, too much interference and other issues to worry about. Attitude mode is something really worth while and good to learn. Full manual is not as important.
Great review. Thanks. I love the Phantom 4. Rarely does a product live up to all the hype, but this thing is amazing. I will definitely be using the term "Metric Whack Ton".
You should try building a Racing quad. Be prepared for a non-HD downlink though. You could make it a sort of episode like scrap yard. Instead you guys build 250mm size racing quads. You seem like you enjoy multicopters and this would be a cool next step.
love your work! great stuff! my phantom 4 is old now, i think it's time to get a new one! looks like it's all about the phantom 4 pro! i will be posting some more stuff soon! hopefully it will be as good as expected

+Aditya Muralidhar i wouldnt say that. I do agree with the apple thing a bit, but with dji you do get the best tech thats out there for your money. No other brand have so many features and specs build into one product at that price. Custom will allow you to build something faster, stronger, longer flight time and better camera, but it will cost you a lot more and be more work than fun and most people like myself included are tired of building custom when we can but a product like the phantom 3 pro / phantom 4.

Very impressive work by DJI. I'm really curious if GoPro's Karma is going to be able to compete with the Phantom line.
For the object following, couldn't there be a little tracking chip or something, that you could put onto the object you'd want it to follow? Then it would be hard to loose it.
+Unstoppable Pigeon The 3DR Solo uses your phone to track you via the phones build in gps. much more accurate and it wont loose tracking.
+Unstoppable Pigeon I mean you could. But that wouldn't solve the obstacle issues. That would help tremendously for positional tracking, but if you want it to follow you, or another object at a relatively low distance that won't help with avoiding obstacles or maneuvering.
It could have some pathfinding.
