Striding Edge Ridge Walk, 4K Lake District UK

- Hi just a short video I put together of my favourite clips from climbing Helvellyn Today. The route I took included Striding Edge which is a ridge line near to the summit of Helvellyn in the English Lake District. It'sknown as a grade 1 scramble, and having done Crib Goch Ridge on mount Snowdon, Striding Edge is a lot easier and just an enjoyable walk that you can make as hard as you like by climbing the pinnacles and staying off the paths!

Thanks! That's the feeling I was going for hahah, thanks for watching!
"no humans were harmed in the making of this video"
Brilliant entry level scramble! Exposure makes us human 👏
Cool video specially with the music background 👍
Thanks, much appreciated!
I completed walking helvellyn via the edges when I was a boy some 35 years ago I would love the opertunity to go back, stunning place
I agree, it's left a lasting impression on me and I've been back several times.

Haunting.. 😎. Im doing the edges this Thursday, up striding and back down Swirral.
I did striding and swirell edge couple months ago, my first scramble was such a good experience!
Great video and footage very nice indeed well done fantastic views thanks for sharing cheers
Thanks for watching!
amazing footage. man you are so lucky to live in an area where you have such beauty.
Thanks man, yeah I love where I live lots of different environments so close.
Fantastic video
Did this I'm bad weather and it's not a good idea. Not for the faint hearted. And not for a bunch of amateurs. Didn't really get to enjoy any of it, just getting down the other edge and back on a path. Snowy, windy and poor visibility. Do it on a good day anyone having the idea.
I've done it a few times clear day its amazing. Done it when it was bad conditions zero visibility up on summit nearly had a panic attack thought I wouldn't find a way down winds were blasting could barely see 2 meters infront.. freezing cold. Luckily got down safe
Nice.
Amazing video!!!
👍👍

Stunning views! Really impressive. Nice video 👍🏻
Thanks!
No probs. Btw, is there a way to do messaging on here? Or is it just comments? I don’t use UA-cam a whole lot... lol
Awesome ⛰ 🙏
Fantastic footage
Thanks, appreciated.
Wow I gotta give this a go, great vid never mind hiking quite literally climbing a mountain 1 wrong move could cost u ur life adds to the thrill tho
Awesome
I gave you the like number 100 ;-)
Doing this route later this year cannot wait
I'll be going round to the right thank you. Solo climbing next week
So mint
Nice video mate. Need to get a recent striding edge video on my channel again. U have inspired me.
Beautiful video, recently ticked Crib Goch off, albeit poor visibility :( Will tackle this next on a clear day!
Do'nt care for folk who "tick" things.
Please may I use a clip from your brilliant video and even better walk? Barbara
😁😁😁😁😁
awesome drone shots - what drone did you use? I have a dji mavic mini. but it doesnt have the 'follow me' mode which I think yours has
Thanks, I used a Mavic Pro at the time, it had follow me mode which I used for this vid. I've since had a mavic air 2 and the HDR made the washed out sky a thing of the past.
Great video mate. I took the "easy" route up snowden recently, never done scrambling before, would you recommend this one to start on as a beginner (on a good day)
I assume you mean llanberis path? Depends on if you have a head for heights - I wouldn't go for something with so much duration if I were you. Perhaps start with the Pyg Track on snowdon. then maybe do Nantlle Ridge nearby that has some scrambling, but little enough that you don't have to commit for hours. If after all of these you're itching for further challenge, crib goch and striding edge sound like the place to go :)
@@AlexTunstall thanks for the advice alex
@@karlofandango6108 absolutely!
Watkins path also has a little scramble for the last couple hundred metres or so 👍 not difficult at all so be good to give you an idea
Yes, all day long mate. This was my first scramble and did it with my 6 and 8 year old boys on a warm August day. No real difficulties.
0:54 Is that a path that runs along the length of striding Edge??
I'm going here with a group of mixed abilities soon and need to plan ahead for those who might be scared of the scrambling route over Striding Edge
you can get half way but then it kind of closes and you might need to scramble
👍👍

What mount did you use for the go pro? Cheers👌🏼
chest mount!
This video is excellent. For the POV chest mount climbing shots are you on a particular section of striding edge e.g the chimney, or are there several sections similar to this on the ridge? I am going there in a couple of weeks.
Thanks, most of them are on the chimney and some of them are on the final steep scramble up to the summit just after the ridge. The video is a mix of all different bits going both ways but most of the head/chest shots are on those two sections, enjoy your day out.
@@fissionengineering8129 many thanks for your comment and advice

Hi I was using a DHI Mavic Pro at the time but I have since had a Mavic air 2 with HDR, the HDR makes a big difference on washed out sky shots!!
@@fissionengineering8129 thank you
Hello everyone can you help me what is the postcode how to go on this mountain anyone send me postcode please
Sorry for the late reply, people usually start from Glenriddig village and walk to the western side fo the car park, through the village main road, over a humpback bridge and just keep going up. The postcode for glenridding car park is CA110PA
Nothing too crib goch
Is there an "easy route" here?
Anyone done this with a dog ?
But, you are all alone, what happens when you do a wrong step
It's a pretty busy mountain, theres usually someone within 5-10 minutes who would spot my lifeless body and hopefully call mountain rescue, if it isnt too late ha! even with someone if you take a wrong step youre knackered!
Tgat's a whole load of no.
