    Great video but lots of technical terms being thrown around (like 'Scarf Joint") would be even better if you explained these as you went along. As a newbie to DIY I had to google everything.

    It would be helpful if you used a dripless caulk gun, also you should pre-assemble the squares with CA glue and have all of the boxes assembled b4 you install them. Just as note, the pre-assembling of the boxes insures that all the corners are square and tight.

      Preassembly is w/ CA glue (& accellerator) is the way to go IMHO. Preassembly is also key if the “frames” will be painted. Paint first, then install. The painter will thank you. If you don’t preassemble, it’s a good idea to make 2 spacers - use one on the vertical / left side & one on the horizontal / top side of each “frame” to ensure that the corners of your “frames” are square. Use the spacers to install all “frames.”

    Great video.... nit picking, but that first cut on the chair rail isn't technically a "scarf" joint, but rather a miter joint. No big. Love the video and thanks.

    This was really helpful! Your thorough explanations & time-saving hacks (using a laser level, cutting a block of pre-measured wood) are brilliant. Thank you!

    What was the length of your wall when you started the wainscoting? I'm not sure if how to measure how many boxes to cut out for.

    • @minspiredliving
      @minspiredliving  9 місяців тому

      Google wainscoting calculators. There are a bunch of good free ones where you can just type in all of your dimensions and it’ll tell you exactly how big to make your boxes and how far apart to place them.

    This looks good and cheep way to put some decor to your living room/space , but it won't protect your wall as wainscoting panels .

      Chair rail rule of thumb is 1/3 height of the wall.

  • @ZidaneSteiner
    @ZidaneSteiner 9 місяців тому

    Chair rail is too high, it looks ridiculous. I don't know where people got the idea to do that. It's never 36 inches, and its never 1/3 the height of the room. It's like weird old wives tales spread among the woodworking community or something.
