We are very fortunate to have UA-cam and people like you to show that if you plan correctly and have the right tools you can accomplish so much more with professional results. Awesome.
I cruise some building sites on this here internet and they say things like 2 by 4 and feets and inches Like the whole English speaking world is curled up inside the good ol' USA I'm not saying they're actually xenophobic, but ..... I mean, it's 2020 in a few weeks and the entire USA is STILL using the old imperial system, pretending they in a Star Wars movie with light sabres, light sabres measuring three 'king's feet' and 4 'king's thumbs' or whatever the fuck it is all based on. 17/32nds of stupidity, if you ask me. And it's metre for the length and meter for the instrument.
No adhesive being used was intentional. The timber used is light weight, after nailing, caulking and painting them to the wall they are sturdy and not easily removed. The point of no adhesive is that if you ever wanted to remove them or re decorate you can do so without damaging the wall 👍
Lmao... this is horrible. Looks good from far but your cutting is brutal. All that caulking is going to shrink... same with the wood. Do these people a favor and post an updated picture months later
I've watched a half dozen videos on how to do this wall treatment but this was the best on how to the get the spacing and lining up of the upper and lower boxes correct. Priceless! Thank you.
I love this style, I can’t figure why did we get away from beautiful interior design especially if it can be this cheap. It’s much better than a boring plaster wall.
I have only just come across this video. So nice to see a comprehensive video from someone in our neck of the woods. This video gave me the confident to give the paneling a go myself. Thank you
Oh wow! Thank you so much for doing this. This is exactly what I want for our billiard room. And I know I can do it myself! It just came out beautifully! I love the strips you chose and everything, it's just timeless!
Bill! Greetings from the US. Thanks so much for your video! I followed your tips, converted the measurements to our ridiculously inefficient system of measurement, and voila. Thanks again and cheers.
So this is how they do it? It looks very nice. I've always seen in in some posh houses in London and wanted it for myself. Very nice. Thanks for sharing. I'll definitely use this in my place.
If it’s original to the house it will be plaster moulding, not wood or MDF. Plaster moulding is applied wet and pliant so it works on older, uneven walls.

I LOVE IT! I'm currently renovating my kitchen (myself) and THIS is exactly what I had in mind for my living room/dining room areas. You made it look soo easy! This will be my next project after completing my kitchen. I'm soo happy I saw your video! THANK YOU! 😀
I like your method, looks simple . I would suggest that you aligned your lower trim piece to be the same height as the adjacent sill on the side wall . Looks a little too close to the floor .
I love the video. Thanks for sharing man! I'd like to add if I may, that one must always use glue at the miter joints or else in time you will start to see gaps just from hot and cold contracting of the wood. No need to glue the trim to the wall, but at the joints yes!
Oh my gosh this is the best lesson that I have seen . Congratulations on your excellence but more so sharing with us so we too can aim to achieve that . Thank you for sharing
Love this! Only thing is that I'd paint the trims first, then add the caulking once intstalled and then only give it one more light coat over the middle where the caulking was applied. Just seems easier. A very clever and simple way to dress up a wall! Thank you!
I did something very similar for my medical office and later added some subtle peel and stick wall paper for a very nice look. The example here in the video is very close to the floor. I'd raise it up and allow for baseboards. It is an inexpensive but very classy feature.
I've been wanting these panels. You demonstrated and explained very well. I just shared video with my sons so they can help me install this in my bedroom and possibly other areas in home. Thanks again!
Awesome video. I don’t know why UA-cam suggested it to me, as I’m not really into DIY Videos, but I’ll definitely come back to this video next time I have to decorate a room
Best video on this topic. Too many of the DIY videoes take too much skill and, worse, require so many expensive tools, so expensive that it does not pay for you to do the job yourself.
Excellent work. Looks amazing! I personally would have raised the moulding higher, so I could trim out the floor. It would have popped even more. But that's just my opinion, everyone is different. Love your work, and your channel!
I express my thanks for sharing this tutorial sir, I will love to add this design to my mother's room as a gift. Hopefully since I desire to learn how to install trim to a wall, this guide is helpful.
Great intro just finished 17 panel in a large room! But I used Liquid nails with a double bead, press on, take off, wait 2 mins then re apply took much longer but is very secure on plaster wall. Nails just don’t bite and wobble out with bumps.
This looks awesome! My husband and I are buying a new home, and there’s this accent wall that is just blank right now in the sitting room! I’m wanting to do this exact design on it! Thanks for the info! We’ll get to measuring 🙌🏽
This is excellent (and nice tips). I have thought about doing this loads of times, but always thought it would look too obvious that it was a cheap cheat. It looks so good! Thanks xx
I learned a trick to avoid the joints not sitting flush with uneven walls. Make pocket holes in the pieces and connect them prior to wall installation.
Thanks Bill for these videos, you’re a legend mate. My wife and I bought a house a few weeks back and we wanted to change up things in the house, this channel has given someone like me with no experience the confidence to tackle projects. I wanted to recreate the look in this video can you please let me know the exact type of wood you used from Bunnings? Thanks mate
Im going to be doing this to my living room and bedroom. However one thing i am adding is that i will be using wallpaper to use inside the squares to make it stand out a bit more. Or i was thinking about wallpapering the entire wall and still using this setup in this video. Still undecided
The trick is to shoot at an angle instead of straight. That will give it even more hold. I would also use 2inch nails for max hold. 2" nails would be the maximum nail length you can buy. Other comments suggested glue as well but I am thinking that's getting to be an over kill.
Nice job. Not sure if i missed it but you may want to point out that you'll need to be very careful nailing into a wall so close to a power outlet.....
