    Those who never had the opportunity to see this band perform live will never truly understand. On several occasions over the years, I have attempted to explain to others, what Brainiac was like, playing live. Always digging for adjectives that were close to the description, but never finding the perfect description, I usually end up at, "I don't know man, it was like nothing else before, and nothing else after. It was something else, something really, really special....really special."

      Saw them in London earlier this year. Man. Fucking FANTASTIC. Obviously, no Timmy Taylor, but even still, they were just earth shattering.

      he supported beck on his odelay tour around 97? I saw him at the mayfair in Newcastle, was an incredible performance which I had recorded on a dictaphone, but its long lost :(

      Brainiac did indeed support Beck for a half dozen UK shows in May 1997. I'd love to get my hands on any audio/video.

    Such an amazing band, way ahead of their time. Heard of them from a BBC show Trent Reznor hosted where he acted as the disc jockey. He stated he borrowed a lot of from Brainiac as far production on With Teeth and referenced them the whole recording process.

      sadly With Teeth sounds nothing like Brainiac, and it was the record that made me stop lstening to NIN for quite a few years

    • @decadesofsegregation9677
      @decadesofsegregation9677 Рік тому

      @@NuevaRomay from a production standpoint especially mic placement techniques, textured and overall influence it is there. Does it sound like it songwriting wise? No
      And yes after year zero/with teeth NIN was over. Atticus Ross ruined that group.

    Thank you for posting this. Great to see a show in Ohio. One of Touch and Go's best bands...a personal favorite of mine. This version of Fresh New Eyes is haunting. Used to play them on my college radio show in the late 90's.

    Saw them several times at Canal Street Tavern. Dayton was blessed with many really talented bands. There were none like Brainiac, yes, but we also had dEMENTIA pRECOX, The Breeders, The Obvious, The Pure Plastic Tree, and so many others.
    There needs to be a Dayton scene documentary.

    Shot in the dark but if anyone that was at this show reads this, please let me know if you remember the “rapper” that opened this show.
    He just kind of mumbled and would ask random strangers to play with him; he even went to the Subway next door and grabbed some guy to join him on stage. Hilarious!

    I was at their show at the Garage, London, in May/June 1997, possibly one of their last shows. Perhaps the tracklist was very similar to this one. I think they started the same way. Unique band.
