Ocd style for all the years I was deprived. I saw the Melvins play the entire Houdini album back in '93 when it came out. They opened for Primus at the Hollywood Palladium. It was transformative to say the least.
Cody Willis is hands down one of the best rock drummers I've seen/heard no matter what band he's in, but playing with Dale??? Jesus H Christ this rocks
Alvaro Ibarra I have seen Mastodon twice. They are a awesome band and I am a big fan .I must say though they are kind of boring live. The other two bands are as legendary as Black Sabbath to me!!!!!And that’s saying something 🤘🤘🤘🤘
@@spacegrass2738 I'm sorry, but I just can't see any relationship between what Clutch or Mastodon are doing and what Sleep and the Melvins are doing. I love Clutch, but their music is just so different than this. Sleep and Melvins, I get. Very different, but I see it.
Oh man, it was so, so unbearably, painfully HOT in this teeny tiny venue during this show, the whole time I thought i was gonna faint any minute. Brought my then-boyfriend to see them for the first time, it was such an effort to enjoy it for both - so glad I can rewatch it now and finally make up for it. Only time in my life I had to FOCUS to enjoy the Melvins. Mid summer, small square room super packed, low ceiling, no ventilation whatsoever, walls dripping wet, thick velvet curtains over the doors preventing any whiff of air from coming in, low blood pressure - but we managed to stay inside the whole show nevertheless. No chance I'd walk out on the Melvins, but when Electric Wizard played the same venue, the same summer, I didn't make it. Saw them (both) several times before and after, thankfully. The venue burned down in a fire a couple years after this show by the way... MELVINS, needless to say, obviously SHREDDED regardless of heat and discomfort levels. Once more showed us pussies and faint at heart how it's done!
@@crimesforkibble6912 hahah well I'm glad for you! I wish I could say the same, maybe my heat tolerance level are too low, I have low blood pressure and I get quite dizzy with extreme heat. 😅
I just saw them last week in San Jose, CA on a day where the high was 106 deg. It NEVER gets to be 106 degrees in San Jose. Us 45 year olds were drenched post show. Made it. Was amazing.
Holy shit, this sounds amazing. The drumming is just....wow. Not the biggest Melvins fan in the world (respect the hell out of them), but I'd see them in a second if I had an opportunity.
D. Norbut you would love them if you saw them live. It really opened my world to them when I saw it live. So tight And syrupy and alien sounding. Nothing quiet like it.
My boss said the same thing ,"Yeah they're ok but I don't really dig em too much", until we saw them live recently . Now they're all he's been listening to for months.
Goddamnit Houdini is a shit-hot collection of songs in any order. Buzzo and Dale with Big Business has to be my favorite lineup live. Saw (and filmed) them at Meredith years back and it blew my goddamn skirt right up. Amazing
I wasn't expecting Buzzo's voice to sound this amazing. I don't know A) how he's able to sound just as heavy and on pitch and B) how he's able to do it after singing and performing this way for literal decades
The Wedge I saw this tour live and same thing. Dead on tight. Great show. I’m longing for them to come to NC again. Hopefully I won’t have to work but even so they are worth using a vacation day on. If there were Melvin heads that follow them around like the Dead I would be a Melvin’s head at the ripe age of 46. Great band like wine they get bette with age too. Most bands do the opposite but not these amazing beasts.

Best band ever. They are from another planet made of thick gooey tightness. I saw them live one time and was blown away. I think that’s part of what makes them so interesting. Especially the Houdini album. Sounds so serious yet absurd at the same time. I think it’s great.
