She was on top of the world until she tore up a picture of the Pope in a public appearance. I think it was on Saturday night live. For that she was canceled and destroyed.
To get a good sense of the song, listen to her official video, studio version. It doesn't matter whether you do it here or just in private but definitely check it out.
Sinead had a very painful childhood. She was horribly abused by her mother. She lost her mother before her first album came out. She sang from her soul.
RIP Sinéad taken way too soon after so much sadness in her life. I feel the death of her son Shane caused her to die of a broken heart. She was an amazing talent. I think it’s only the Irish understand how to pronounce her name. Not your fault but it’s pronounced “ Shin-aid”. You seem to have noticed her free spirit. Sinéad never allowed anyone dictate to her. So much amazing songs she sings, well worth listening to Sinéad again. Thank you. We Irish love her
Losing a child would break me too…especially after a lifetime of childhood abuse. Then-I’m sure-she felt she failed her son. Love is SO complicated. Still cry every time I hear this performance.
She was amazing!. And she was actually vilified by the press and the music industry. They turned on her like a pack of dogs, Basically They ruined her career, because she spoke out about the child abuse happening in the Catholic Church. Such a lovely soul! Please watch the official video.
She was a true warrior, indomitable, she cared more about speaking the truth, than her career. She knew speaking out would end her career, she did it any way.
New subscriber here and a long time Sinéad fan who has been lucky enough to have seen her perform live several times. The best voice I have ever heard and I have been to many, many concerts. It’s a shame how the media made her look so awful when all she ever did was show bravery. Standing up against child abuse in the Catholic church, adressing mental health, taking care of American veterans and the list goes on. She is so missed. Hope to see you reacting to more of her songs (Fire On Babylon, Troy (live at Pinkpop), 8 Good reasons etc ❤
Sinead was definitely in a league of her own...the voice thrower,my most favourite live performer.RIP sweet soul.❤Also you can see shes in her own world not just here in this performance but everytime she sang. Her mother was so cruel to her.The more you watch her docos, you understand why she was totally wrapped up inher music ❤❤
So proud of Sinéad a lot of pain in her life but channelled into something. Amazing. Sinéad is an Irish name pronounced Shin-aid . Check out her Sean nós nua album of old Irish ☘️ songs . Also Thief of your heart , Troy , No man’s woman , haunted by the ghost , so many songs to mention . Grá as Éireann 🇮🇪 love from Ireland 💚🤍🧡
You might really want to see her video of this same song for a whole different take on it. It would be almost foolish not to check it out. (based on the me in you that I see when you watch many of the things Ive seen you react to in the past)
The 1990 Amnesty concert staged in Santiago Chile, following the end of the Pinochet dictatorship in March 1990, was a celebration of Chile's return to democracy.
I don’t normally like live versions over the studio versions, but there are a few exceptions and this is one of them. When you get the live performance “right” it far excels the studio version. Deep Purple’s “Child in Time” live 1970 is a perfect example of this. Sinead’s live version of “The Last Day of Our Acquaintance” is another live performance that blows away the studio version although they are all excellent. Peter Frampton “Comes Alive” is an entire album that was a huge hit when it was released, but he never had a hit with ANY of his studio songs until he played them live. That is very rare. If he wouldn’t have recorded that live album, nobody would know his name. Although I did have his debut album Frampton on 8-Track tape back then that had all of the songs before they were hits on it. 😂
The power in her voice . It’s a shame that the world wasn’t ready for such a beautiful woman. This song was written by Prince. Sinead was no actor. She felt deeply, grieved deeply. You are so missed .
I've just subscribed to you, enjoyed seeing your reactions re Sinead loved her from day 1, her music hits u right in the gut, after she draws you in & she makes u feel it, RIP Sinead I sincerely hope you're at peace now!
From what I've learned, Prince wrote it about his maid, who he had a powerful connection to (not sexual), and she left. Sinead got the song, and sang it about her mother, who was actually abusive. The official video is SO UCH MORE. powerful, I feel.

There is a fantastic documentary about her calle 'nothing compares'. Gives some good insights into the demons she faced and her courageousness too. Fascinating artist.
Dude you NEED to start at the beginning with Sinead's music, you'll love her the more you hear of her, start with her first album but also check all the songs & musical artists she collaborations with, there are many! Sinead is a Top-tier, one of a kind Brilliant Artist!
my daughter LOVES "the bald lady" when i told her she was gone my daughter insisted we went to the funeral.. when i said we couldnt she didnt talk to me till the next day. she is 5. our first argument.
This woman RIP fought the music industry by herself. She was way more talented compared to Cher or Madonna but she didn’t accept being used as sex symbol so she shaved her hair. She spoke out against the Catholic Church by ripping the pope’s picture that was hanging in her mums living room, live on SNL show which provoked the industry and they started boycotting her. She always spoke out against injustice. She suffer from child abuse, parent abuse, even Prince tried to abuse her and his family refused to let her use this song in her documentary even. She lost her son couple years ago before she died. She found peace in Islam couple years ago, may she rest in peace 🤲🏼
The video to this song is very simple but so beautiful It is one of my favorite videos ever. I hope you check it out even if not as a reaction . I do love this live performance. ❤
It was originally given to Paisley Park colleagues The Family. But Sinead's version is of course the best version. She sided in the destruction of her career. She met with Prince at Paisley Park when he gave this to her. She accused him of holding her hostage there, and threatening her with violence. Complete fabrication to boost her career, which backfired. She also said her gradient "saved his career" which is laughable. And her public attack on Pope John Paul II on SNL really nailed her coffin. She was an incredible musician but really helped her own career implode.
Do yourself a favor and listen to ' Troy' . My favorite is something on the BBC sometime in the 90s (wait for it, I will look it up) Aha it seems they erased it. Ah well.. You could do worse with the Dutch Pinkpop Troy version. BTW Fire On Babylon (Live at Tops of the Pops in 1994) not bad either. Anyway brilliant reaction Nick and hell yeah she will be missed, a (lovely) troubled soul and/but so much poetry in her !
I asked you to react to that one 5 month ago. I´m so glad you did. There is a song of hers called " Feel so different". The live version is so good. Its like art. Thank you Nick.
Sinaed has a very distinctive voice...full of keening. Check out the Cranberries song Zombie. Dolores O' Riordan has the keening in her voice too. Irish mourning. ❤
Her song, “The Last Day of Our Acquaintance” is awesome and I’ve included a link to her phenomenal live performance in Rotterdam. “The Last Day of Our Acquaintance” ua-cam.com/video/n2Ym54zOWnU/v-deo.htmlsi=HSwABK2UCLnwJCrM
Try Marxman ft Sinead O’Connor - ship ahoy ( vid on you tube ) It’s a fantastic rap track from 92. Shinade - but everyone has said Great reaction ❤️👍🏽👍☘️
What an amazing live performance. She was taken far too young. I think the death of her son was a factor in her death, as she passed soon after him. So incredibly sad. She spoke our against the catholic church and the abusers in front of a star studded audience, including tearing a photo of the Pope. She was booed horribly, and Kris Kristoferson climbed onto the stage , telling her 'don't let the ba*t*rds get you down. Frank Sinatra, on the other hand, wasn't there but when he heard about it he said 'If I was there i would've punched her in the face'! Changed my opinion of him to this day.
I did learn she passed away =( She was amazing
It's pronounced " Shin aid"
She was amazing singer, societ k4ll her.
She was on top of the world until she tore up a picture of the Pope in a public appearance. I think it was on Saturday night live. For that she was canceled and destroyed.

❤ of a warrior, voice of an angel. Her star will always shine. 🌟✨️💫⭐️
This song wakes you up. She went from anger to sadness to reality. Beautiful lady. R.I.P our legend
This is one of the best live performances by anybody, ever.
Love how she is one with all of it. Body, mind and soul.
She pronounced her name; Shinade.
Sinead had a very painful childhood. She was horribly abused by her mother. She lost her mother before her first album came out. She sang from her soul.
A very powerful voice from a beautiful woman who had a difficult life. I love her ❤ RIP Sinead

Nick, Sinead is pronounced Shinaid. Lovely reaction to a heartbreaking song.
Best female vocalist of all time in my opinion. Check out Sinead's song 'TROY' an absolute masterpiece.

Pure power. Sinéad is one of a kind. A legend ahead of her time.

80S AND EARLY 90S MUSIC. NO COMPARISON SO TIMELESS
She was super talented… had a fluttery voice inflection, so beautiful. Rip sweet girl ❤
I still get the chills.....
The power in her voice .
It’s a shame that the world wasn’t ready for such a beautiful woman.

Mr. Nick, I'm glad you enjoyed Sinead O'Connor. Exquisite, elegant and raw. Thank you, sir.
Thank you so much Kim! I am sad to find out she passed away
Honestly for me this sings like a hymn. She had such an ethereal voice, you do get lost in her voice, what a loss, died too young.
From what I've learned, Prince wrote it about his maid, who he had a powerful connection to (not sexual), and she left. Sinead got the song, and sang it about her mother, who was actually abusive. The official video is SO UCH MORE. powerful, I feel.

She was gifted. Think she was seeing her 17yr boy that died by suicide. She passed July 23, 2023.
RIP SNEAD OCONER❤❤❤❤
She was amazing in Santiago, Chile, 1991 ❤❤❤
RIP 🙏🙏🙏🕯️🕯️
The video to this song is very simple but so beautiful It is one of my favorite videos ever. I hope you check it out even if not as a reaction .
I do love this live performance. ❤
She was a troubled soul with a raw talent😢😢😢😢
This song was written by Prince but he gave it to Sinead.
I believe he sang it but it was a minor song of his catalog.
It was originally given to Paisley Park colleagues The Family. But Sinead's version is of course the best version. She sided in the destruction of her career. Prince wrote the song, didn’t expect it to be the hit that it was.
Sinead is pronounced "Shin-aid"
😢Sinnead was a great voice, but she had mental problems and life was not easy to her. This cover surplus the Prince's original. And became eternal.❤❤❤
Shinaid is the pronunciation. Its Gaelic.
Great song and singer but, FYI, Sinéad is an Irish name and is pronounced Shin-aid.
Listen to the Cranberries song Zombie. Irish people are very passionate.

you kept mispronouncing her name, but that's all good, she was great and i think you captured what made her great, thanks for your reaction!

Pronounced Shin aid 😊
Watch the original version. You'll get another perspective.
That “sound” is a bit of Irish keening.
I remember when she was on Saturday Night Live and tore up a picture of the Pope.
It’s Irish, pronounced Shanay
Nice reaction but just to let ya know it's pronounced Shinade. 👍😊
