Changing jobs or change, in general, is never comfortable. Just embrace the discomfort and the learning curve. It's good for the mind and body to shake ourselves out of our comfort zones.
I always like dogs and I thought it was going to be my dream job being a dog sitter and having my own business. Man was I SO wrong. It was a total prison at home, clients who abandoned dogs on me, dogs who ran away..... I had no personal life or space. After 5 years I decided that was not making me happy anymore. At 41, alone, and with all my expenses I started all over again. That's life 🤗☀️
Hi Catarina, i love dogs too but i wouldn't have guessed dog sitting would be a prison! Best of luck with this next phase of your life, good things will happen 🥰
As an Autistic person (Autistics have an 85% unemployment rate. I cannot even pass a job interview or ableist hiring questionnaires, and I am traumatized by both now. People look at me like I have 2 heads and like I shouldn't even be there whenever I interview.), the only work I have been able to do is pet care. I have never had a dog run away on me, but I have also never had dogs abandoned on me. Sounds like you were doing dog boarding, not dog sitting. I was homeless until earlier this year so I couldn't do boarding, and my new place does allow animals. The real money is in dog boarding. I struggle to get by that the money from a small settlement for becoming homeless I'd almost gone. But it is the only thing I can do. I use a booking platform. But unfortunately being Autistic, I give "uncanny valley" vibes which womyn are extremely good at picking up on, so I fail meet and greets unless the client is a male making decisions without a wife, with the exception being womyn who specifically have experience with Autistic people like they have worked with them before. I love working with nonhuman animals. I always got along with them better than people and started early seeing my siblings get tired of their animals and stop feeding them completely as children. My sister used to lock me out of her room so I wouldn't enter her room. She starved hamsters, a chinchilla, and a parakeet to death. I have worked with horses, amphibians, reptiles, arthropods, and more volunteering at every school to care for the animals including a neglected mouse colony in crowded conditions who would otherwise be living in their own 💩 for a class which works all year to train them. The winning mouse gets to be a pet, the rest were all food with babies being used as piranha food. Anyways, it is one of the only things I can do, but it's difficult for me to.get work. If there was a way for me to get work without relying on or having to deal with people to get or complete that work, that would be amazing. I am super awkward in text communication as well.
It sure is exhausting! But i've learned a lot about myself through all these jobs! Good luck with your new endeavors, there are so many wonderful possibilities. Thanks so much for watching and your comment, i appreciate you!! 🥰
I found out at 65 I'm ADHD. Be sure and rule that out, young person, if you are having a hard time sticking to a job. It's tough.....I kept trying new things out of boredom really. I was always so full of new ideas I wanted to explore!
I'm 35 as well and I've gone through 6 jobs in a 1 1/2 year time frame. I am currently unemployed, but I am finishing college online. I want to work for myself, not for someone else anymore. I'm finishing college so I may have that foundation when I pursue in whatever business I start.
I was in my early 20s when I learned an important money lesson: get a job that pays me enough to do what I want in life. Over the last decade I've felt like I fell behind, I was supposed to be a teacher, have a book published.... but my 20s just felt like floating and wanting to live an artists life, and then in my 30s I realized I really wanted a home and wanted a career. Now I can also identify red and green flags for a job and learned it's okay to walk away and quit jobs. I loved hearing your story, you're so resilient
Hi Belle! I think my 30s was my toughest years, i had all these expectations of myself. Its good to hear that you have learned some really valuable lessons in your 20s, that should serve you well! Thanks soooo much for sharing, I really appreciate you! 🥰
I've changed careers several times and had a number of jobs within each career, including being a high school English teacher and a paralegal, which is my current occupation. I'm still "finding myself" at 60. My goal is to never stop growing. I do find, however, that I don't get a lot of joy or satisfaction out of working for others any longer. I want to work for me and grow my own business, i.e., reselling, which I do part-time. I'm even considering starting a UA-cam channel! It's important to have a sense of accomplishment and to take control of your own destiny. You seem to have done a wonderful job of evolving and finding the joy in life, and "work." Thanks for the inspiring videos! 🙂
Hi rosepetalupscycle, its great to meet you! It may be cliche but the beauty of aging is we gain wisdom from what we went through! Love that you are doing things more for you! Its good that you have your full time job so you can afford to try other things. Let me know when you start your channel so i can subscribe! Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, I really appreciate you! 🥰
I had a few jobs when I was very young. From age 21 to 63, worked for a large company, earned a pension. Because I was a single parent, I held onto the job with blood sweat and tears. I can say, it was more survival than enjoyment. I dealt with backstabbing and office politics. I would do something different if I had a do over. I’m afraid of working again so I am doing the reselling business and I do enjoy it. So much to learn. Thanks for your video.
Hi Igarcya, you really put in your time and did what was best for your family, hat off to you!! I'm really glad you are enjoying reselling, nice to own your own business, huh! Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, I really appreciate you! 🥰
I’m 24 right now and always feeling overwhelmed by my different interests and pressure to find some thing that fits me ‘perfectly’, I just want you to know this video was so comforting and helpful❤️ so glad I came across your channel today!
I'm soooo glad to hear, Katie! Don't worry you got this, out of all your interests, what job fits you the best, what ticks off the most boxes? Maybe that will help narrow things down for you. Best of luck, keep me posted! 🥰
I think reselling hits a couple of key things for me! My love of fashion, salesmanship, flexibility and entrepreneurial spirit. This is such a helpful video for people looking for their "thing"!
Looks like reselling tick all the boxes for you, Stasia, awesome! Thank you for watching and your wonderful comment, i really appreciate you my friend! 🥰
Hi Dana! I'm a fellow reseller from the Tech Patreon group. I always enjoyed your comments on the clothing calls; you come across as thoughtful and insightful. I believe your appeal stems from a startling realization for most of us that life is not a straight line. If you could talk to your younger self to reassure her that she will survive the curve balls and disasters- that its ok to be confused, overwhelmed, bored, and thrilled in the same week. 20 somethings could really benefit from hearing your life stories. Keep up the great work!
Hey there spare change, its great meeting you! Thank you for your video idea, i had this on my list but you really clarified the topic for me, thank you!! See you in Tech's calls, thanks for your awesome comment, i appreciate you 🥰
I think I had almost about 20 plus jobs too, and 90% I was fired from. I started my own business and it was the best thing I did in my life. I learned I don't want to work for someone, I want to work for myself.
Hi Michael, congrats on starting your own business! I agree, being your own boss is the best thing. Thank you for your wonderful comment, i really appreciate you! 🥰
Thank you!❤ I'm a small UA-camr for now, but I’m committed to sharing my life, 'East meets West' (from Shanghai to Germany and Europe). Every story counts-breaking boundaries of myself!
This video was right on target, both for me and my daughter. Like one of the commenters, I kept at my job, even though it was not particularly fulfilling because I had family to support. Still doing a job, at 72. I don't know if I will be looking for any more work, but I am grateful to you for this advice.
Hi Lisa, i'm so happy that you and your daughter liked the video! Yes there are so many levels to job fulfillment and if the job helps pay the bills then i say its pretty fulfilling! We can always find joy in other areas of our lives. Thanks so much for your support Lisa, I really appreciate you! 🥰
I'm very fortunate to have a profession I love. I finished college at 39. I never went to college after high school. I spent my early years having a great time ask wouldn't change anything about it. How could I go to school and pick a career when I didn't know my purpose? I am the luckiest and happiest person because I'm havin/ living my best life. My son hasn't gone to college either but I'm sure he'll find his way. My daughter knows what she wants to study so she's in school. I'm very happy.
You made such a great point about waiting for college. So many people don't have an idea of what they are interested in, let alone find a career that they will be happy in. Thank you for sharing your story, i'm so inspired by it and i'm sure others will be too! 🥰
Starting over in my career. A complete career change from accounting to professional coaching. I love coaching, it energizes me and very fulfilling. I’m launching my new career in 2025.
I'm 66 years old and still a welder, and in the evenings and weekends I have a leather shop. I make thing for Dixie gun works. I have big sewing machines
Hi Captain Bob, its great to meet you! I love that you are a maker and have a craft, that really does give you purpose AND joy! Thanks for your comment, I appreciate you! 🥰
@danafindwell I wish that you lived over here with me. You could help with a website to sell the leather stuff I make. We could have a Business together
I am 59 also. I love beauty,, wellness and fashion. I am fortunate to work at jobs that I'm passionate about. I work two jobs: Fragrance Consultant at Macy's and a boutique as a sales associate.
Hi Shawn! It sounds like your jobs are just the right fit for you, blending purpose and joy beautifully. Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, i really appreciate you! 🥰
Listen I am 40 years old and I learned never stay loyal to these companies nor go above and beyond. I am glad I did over 20 yeas in US Army Reserves to have my pension. Always had side hustles or create business.
Thank you for your service! It really sounds like you've been really smart with your career choices, as well as being an entrepreneur too. Thank you so much for watching and your comment, i really appreciate you 🥰
I can relate with you. I was dedicated and wholeheartedly believe that I am living my life until the global pandemic that I saw, lives wasted. I went to the saddest time of my life.
Yes, the pandemic was such a tragedy, hard time for many. I think many of us are still trying to work our way out of it! I just sub'd to your channel, Regina, thank you 🥰
Thank you for creating this video. Loved it so much! I did the exercise and identified a career that fits me best! I realized my past jobs had 2/4 and the 2 jobs that had 3/4, I stayed the longest at, which was really insightful. ❤
Thanks for this video, Dana. It’s filled with timeless and sound advice. I wanted to add a thought from my own experience, especially as someone who went back to study later in life. I found that, for some of us, early career choices were about survival more than passion, leading to jobs that drained us. As a more mature person now, I've realised that while ageism isn't always overt (since it’s against the law), it can still subtly impact opportunities. It creates a unique challenge for those of us putting in the effort to re-train and update our skills but finding that age can still be a barrier. This dynamic is complex and not always discussed, but I really appreciate your insights. Thanks again for your thoughtful content!
Hi Joane! Yes, that really makes sense, both my brother and i both wanted less stressful jobs when we got older. I do believe ageism is both internal and external which make it even more difficult to track? Thanks so much for your insightful comment, I really appreciate you! 🥰
Dana, sometimes we can't find everything we would like to in a job or a 100% match and we have just to take a job because the situation is like it is and it is never a waste of time. Every job gives us a lesson, don't you think?.
Yes, i totally agree with you, Mari Mari. We can always learn something from our experiences, especially jobs. Thanks for your wonderful comment, I really appreciate you! 🥰
Thank you for sharing about your experiences with your videos, they really help not just myself but I'm sure many others. It's a good thing that we can support each other and collectively learn during this crazy time in life. ❤
Thanks BarKeegan, i think i've taken this test before when i worked for a tech company. Looking back at it i remember not being happy with the results. But now i have clarity on what kind of employee i was back then, its sooo interesting! Thanks for your comment, I appreciate you! 🥰
Would of been disappointing been offered assistants job then being withdrawn, good to see you bouncing back, same happen to me. Your videos hit home on a lot of points that I find really interesting. Thank you.
Hi Steve, i'm so sorry that happened to you, too. Yes i was disappointed, i was really looking forward to it because i love libraries! But i don't think i wouldve been happy there for long, it didn't tick off all the boxes! Thanks so much for your comment Steve, I really appreciate you! 🥰
Hi Chizoba! It sounds like you are still searching for a fulfilling job, you will find it just remember to figure out what interests and tasks make you happy and then find jobs that match them! Just sub''d to your channel. Thanks so much for your comment, I appreciate you! 🥰
I’ve had over 60 jobs and I don’t want another one! But everything just keeps going up, especially things like insurance that you just pay and get nothing for it.
I worked in restaurants for 40 years. I loved it and I was very good at it. As a single mom I supported myself and two sons for years. Unfortunately that job did a number on my feet and I’m now disabled and can’t work.
@@EmmanuellaJoy-w7z thank you. But I did love what I did and I would do it again if I could. I just realized I typed I was a waitress for 4 years, it was supposed to be 40 years. 🤣🤣. I corrected it.
You could work sitting down and since serving is a customer service job, you could work as a CSR or sales or all kinds of things using just a computer and phone.
Hi grannyprepper, i'm so sorry about your feet, my mom was a hairdresser on her feet all day too. I remember she would be so tired after a long hard day! But it sounds like you loved your job and it provided for you and your sons, thats really awesome. Thanks so much for your sharing your comment, I really appreciate you! 🥰
I don’t have passion about my current job and now I have already send letter resignation and will be effective on the end of this month. I want to do something which make me enjoyable and happy to do it. I did not plan anything yet. I really appreciate you to share good ideas and preparation. I can do everything but I did not take deeply in it. I’m focusing with myself.
We could really be good at what we want and bring out the best of it. And in online business, it becomes my savior. I took the courage to shift online. Yes, helping others to earn online is much more fulfilling.
So true, Regina! I really do like working online two, we can be so flexible and autonomous. Thanks so much for your awesome comment, I really appreciate you! 🥰
Oh Dana the world 🌎 loves a trier. Love how you tried extending your education and the time you put into this. I’m fortunate and have retired early and can choose what to do. I cook diy read keep up with current affairs walk and enjoy fresh air. It’s fab you have tried different things. Good for you. Also I’ve got a bit of an artistic side learning a new instrument. Dana you come across so well and it’s refreshing. I think you come across so well is your natural look and how you use your hand gestures to talk. lol 😂. Dana you can pick my brains anytime. I’ll get the coffee ☕️. Hopefully you’re vintage clothes are selling well. I’m sure you’re inspirational for many people that are unconfident. Well done you have a good day. Go girl. 🏴😜🌹
Hi Stephen! Your retirement sounds amazing, sounds like its exactly what retirement should be! Thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support, I really appreciate you 🥰
Thank you Ayan! I wish i was more outgoing and exciting, but maybe laughter is the key, i laugh all the time! Laughing seems to release tension and negativity. Thank you so much for watching and your wonderful, sweet comment, i really appreciate you!! 🥰
Yes, the best research is to talk to people in the job you're considering. I'm trying to guess who that attorney was! I worked as a paralegal in Oakland. It's actually a pretty small world when you're in it. Everybody talks. My firm was really great but we had a few stinkers too. I worked with a big career coach in the bay area and she told me to stop hunting for the perfect job. She predicted I would continue to get bored easily and should get better at embracing who I am. And she said it's so important to really understand what you hate. I met with her for a few months and it changed my life. She gave me a ton of tests. And in the end she was right. I had sooo many great jobs and was always getting new certificates and training and trying new things. I actually feel like all of it helps me be a better ebay seller. Networking is the best way to get hired. I've hired a bunch of people and referrals make it so easy. Attitude was always more important to me than skills. And ability to learn.
It really is super helpful to hear about your job history and work with the coach, Jackie, thank you! Here's a hint, her intitials are AW. The best lawyer i met in Oakland is Alexandra Easley, have you heard of her? Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, I really appreciate you! 🥰
@danafindwell haha I think AW a disney character right? Nightmare. AE is on youngish side and I don't know about her. Good attorneys are out there for sure. I feel lucky that I have a strong network for advice now and then. Accountants too. Networking makes life so much easier. I was resistant for many years because I'm an introvert but that just means I need time to recover after socializing. You can learn to do almost anything. I hired people without almost no current skills but their ability to learn was high. And motivation. It's such a nightmare to find the right people. If job seekers understood this and put themselves in the shoes of the interviewer they might lose all anxiety. But going in cold with a referral is tough. I'm loving your new content. I think your channel is going to explode. And just some advice on your store. You've said it's been tough to grow because you sell what you list. Think about what you can pick up that's lower asp and slightly lower sell through or higher asp and slower sell through. They have to be solid items of course. So even dumb polo shirts. If you get 50 extra listings up it makes a difference. I know space is an issue. But that number of total items listed makes a difference. I tell people not to cross list until store at desired size or you'll sell too much!
@@jackiegerarde9938 Wow, you know who AW is, thats crazy!! Good to know that she is known to be a disaster...i didn't think it was me but sometimes you don't know! Yes, Alexandra was my lawyer and she did a fantastic job for me. i was in a terrible custody battle and when i switched over to her she won the case. Thanks for your feedback on my channel and store, i appreciate the advice! Hope all is good with you and your having awesome sales 🥰
I have been a recruiter for 7+ years and remained at my current firm for 2 years and 3 months now. However, I had probably as many jobs as you have, at 40. My longest job was about 2 years and 10 months, two companies ago. I was hired by my former employer for 5 months laid off and rehired a year later, and stayed for 1 year. My late father always feared my instability, but super proud of my current employer, due to it's brand in my city, a well known academic medical hospital. The current job I have a pretty has good flex with some autonomy. I would like to be my business owner, maybe a recruitment agency or sales pipeline building. I also wanted to be a coffee seller buy from my native country that is know for coffee.
Thanks so much for sharing, LJA! I had always felt a bit embarrassed about my story, but since i shared it in this video, i feel like a weight has been lifted and i realize that so many of us have had lots of jobs, got laid off, fired, tried new things. Everybody has had different experiences. I think its really common for people to move from job to job, this is a way to keep increasing how much they make! I'm really happy your dad is proud of your current situation, it sounds like an awesome job. And its great to have a goal to start your own business one day, you'll love it! Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, I really appreciate you! 🥰
Hi Dana I really like how you think but mmm possibly overthink. You are you and you maybe underestimate your how much you have achieved in intellect legality and life. Divorce and starting over you have learned life and have family. You have achieved so much. It’s now time to try enjoy what you have achieved. Your posts have given many folks food for thought. That’s an immense achievement. Dana stay vintage your saving our planet. Love what you’re doing. Remember coffee is on me. Virtual hugs and kisses. Enjoy the rest of your day. 🏴😜🌹x
Hi Stephen! Yes i do overthink things, btw thats a great video topic thank you. Hope you have a wonderful day. Thanks so much for your support, I really appreciate you! 🥰
My heart goes out to you regarding your experience with being a paralegal (and the time invested in learning for the role). I think that part of the picture is workplace culture--the legal environment strikes me as being somewhat harsh, unforgiving, and kind of cynical.
Hi Matthew, yes it was a hard lesson to learn, but i did have some good experiences with some of the jobs. Overall its not the best fit for me! Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, I really appreciate you! 🥰
Hi Madbug, sounds like a great plan! Always good to keep learning, especially tech stuff! Thanks so much for watching and your comment, i really appreciate you 🥰
I have had such a hard time trying to figure out my work situation, im going to do the exercise you showed, thank you. Also thanks for sharing about how you trained as a paralegal then realised it wasnt a good fit. I had the same experience with teaching, I did a PGCE here in the UK but it was horrendously stressful and made me ill (It's a 3 year degree crammed into one year). I qualified but by then I knew the job wasn't a good fit for me, I couldnt sleep every time I was about to take a class. I've felt big shame about that experience and haven't worked much since, it made me feel incapable. I need and want to return to work again so I'm reviewing my options. I think there should be more focus on jobs and careers, self employment and finances in schools. It's good at least that retraining is always possible for many jobs. I'm currently weighing up my passion of self employed textile design and illustration with retraining in IT. I also considered trades but volunteering I've done indicates I wouldn't have the physical energy or health to do a trade.
Hi Kate, thanks soooo much for sharing your experiences! Yes, becoming a paralegal was a big lesson for me, and hopefully it will help people to hear my story, just as it will help to hear yours! Thanks so much for your comment, I really appreciate you! 🥰
I wish i had this wisdom years ago . Didnt have the guidance from parents or school, sadly still dont, but finding mentors like you, it has guided me more. Its sad that they put so much pressure on children, but the school could have guided me better too (i was special ed with learning disability with processing auditory information, ie language processing.) So why did the school, my parenta allow me to think going to school to get a degree in Spanish would be a good thing when i have difficulty still in my native language lol. I tried a more over the phone career but still language processing problems, so i was fired and called "not confident", duh... 😒. I could have avoided all of these things with awareness to being told my learning disability. But i think they /the school/parents, etcetc dont want to "limit" your worldview and tell you you will fail (in the US)... 😒. It doesnt mean they say no, but that this will always be a challenge and you should find jobs with your strengths. Obviously. I actually never knew my diagnosis, but continued in special ed until i wanted to drop out in middle school) so i found out my disorder when i was 27 on my own, and that i do have autistic traits, but have been with all these "problems" since at least 3. Which is a shameful thing since all the "professionals" knew why i was there.. except me.. they all tested me regularly and did all the hearing processing tests all the time in school. And i never knew what for.. 😒 After i dropped out of my spanish degree after almost failing my first semester with peers of the brightest minds... i wish i went for a business degree because thats how i spent a lot of my last 10 years. I feel the possibility of going back to school now will be extremely challenging with my certain circumstance (immigration and keeping my job to sponsor my husband) and being older now (31). I cant imagine getting a degree and wasting my life away (no traveling, no enjoying my marriage and seeing my husband) to then be 35 and then BAM im a higher risk mom if i want to plan pregnancy. And BAM if i do have kids, i literally never lived my life. And my life is essentially over. Sadly.. So traditional school doesnt appeal to me anymore :(. And a lot was due to covid cause i lost 5 years of my life, my marriage, my career, everything :/ But i plan to take some coursera courses in data analytics and project management which i think ive always been stronger at and been doing unknowingly the past 10 years planning and organizing photoshoots, etcetc. Im also doing data entry now so im very strong at it and so a busienss degree would have adcanced me further. But i will take some coursera courses going forward, hopefully i can jump within my organization(i cant leave my job because my husband and the fantastic PTO .. to see him) lol Anyway.. This video is so important and its a shame the schools and parents lack the guidance(at least for me) it could have saved me about 20 YEARS of "failures" that could have been prevented. 😒 ce la vie i guess These kinds of mentorship programs should have been a requirement within the school system for people in high school. But especially for any children who have EVER BEEN in special ed, not just current, to be required to understand the reasons theyve been in special ed and to have a greater understanding of their strengths and weaknesses with their learning disorder.
Hi KJ, its great to meet you! You brought up sooo many great points. One of my daughter's is dyslexic and she had an IEP. School was very difficult for her. She is now considering cosmetology school and i think she would be great at hair or makeup or skincare. She's also a great cook and an amazing athlete. She's funny, empathetic, and makes friends easily. I wish she didn't have such a hard time in school, she often would say she felt so dumb and that still breaks my heart and makes me angry that school couldn't help her more. It sounds like you have some great plans with your future and i'm really excited for you! Please keep us posted and tell us how things are going. Thank you for sharing your story, i think everyone's stories are soooo valuable for all of us. Take good care! 🥰
I have a math degree and I'm gifted with numbers, but I work over nights in a warehouse. I wish I could find something that's more aligned with my talents and interests.
Hi David, thats really great that you know your strengths! I wonder what jobs focus on math and numbers? Besides googling, i just started asking questions to ChatGPT, i wonder if that might help? Thanks for your comment, I appreciate you! 🥰
unfortunately in real life, most jobs where most ppl enjoy doing doesn't make that much money (i.e. painting, playing musical instruments etc). and jobs where most don't enjoy working like accounting, programmers, paid 6 figures. you could also have a job you don't enjoy and doesn't pay much (retail sales clerks, mcdonald worker, janitors etc.). currently i have an IT support job making 6 figures. i don't hate my job or love my job. but the work balance is great. so i'm gonna stick with it as long as can until i either get laid off from this job.
You would be such a great job coach! I’m floundering. I suffer from PTSD and work best on my own. I’m a self starter. I am close to getting my associate’s degree in gen eds with an undergrad in business management. I’m not sure what to do after I graduate. I’m 57 and trying to leave an abusive 30+ year marriage after being a SAHM. I love working with people and typing. I don’t have experience with Excel so I am limited. Any advice??
Hi, there are plenty of UA-cam channels that show, step by step, how to use various programs including Excel. If you buy an older, used copy so you don't have to pay for an Excel subscription, it will do pretty much anything you need. There are also classes to help adults our age brush up on our computer skills, and they include Microsoft and Adobe programs. Check out your library, your community college, and talk to a social worker who could point you in a direction. You are looking for a job training and a skills update program. Also, Google's Docs is very similar to Excel, and they have online tutorials. If you can do one, those skills will transfer to the other with minor changes. Good luck!
@doryknits6741 I normally would say no to the Facebook or other social media however, their groups may offer some direction. Whether it's job hunting in your 40s, job hunting for women, for PTSD, etc. Also, getting your feet wet with volunteering even if 5 hours a month counts. And I use that opportunity to talk with others in that organization about changing careers or gathering more resources for yourself. Remember it's not what you know but who. Hope this helps
Excell is all over UA-cam and you can download for a free trial to learn. I work as an eligibility Specialist for the State I live in, I work IN spreadsheets that are already set up by someone else and hardly ever have to set one up from scratch. You'd be surprised how many jobs are exactly like mine. Don't let 1 program stop you, I'm sure you are better at maybe writing, so use that as your strength when applying or whatever that strength is.
Hi Dana, This is a great video! I love your energy. I'm looking for any part time online work that has a flexible schedule. I have chronic health issues and can be hospitalized or too sick to work at times. Also, I live in SE Asia to keep my costs down. Do you know of any websites to try? Thank the s o much!
Hi TJ! Have you tried Upwork or Fiverr? If you do online work such as copywriting, design, and probably other things, you can get hired per project. It might be a good fit for you? Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback, i appreciate it so much! 🥰
Hi Dana time and life is going on. Soon I’ll be addressing you as gran Dana (LOL😂) your to cute but love your spirit. Dana I don’t know if you speak Japanese but even if you don’t I think you would be fantastic as a voice over in advertising. Might be worth looking into. You have a lovely alluring and gentle overtone in your voice and that’s to cute as well. Should you send a written piece recording to a few agencies on new baby 👶 products . Love your channel and you. So from Scotland 🏴 get ready to catch this big virtual kiss cuddle and squeeze. You deserve it and have a great day. I know this will make you feel good and put a smile on you 😜. Dana enjoy the rest of your day. 🏴🇺🇸🌹.
Hi Stephen from Scotland! Thank you for saying that about my voice, that's quite a lovely compliment! I have an idea of reading children's books for youtube, i might try it in the future. But i like your ideas too! Thanks so much for your wonderful support, i appreciate you 🥰
After 3 years in design I am in constantly burn out so I am not anymore sure if this is what I really want. I am feeling like corporate stuff is eating me alive 😥
Constantly burnt out is not a good feeling! Yes design and advertising can be highly stressful. If you still enjoy designing, perhaps looking into doing design work for a nonprofit org or education? Changing jobs or change, in general, is never comfortable. Just embrace the discomfort and the learning curve. It's good for the mind and body to shake ourselves out of our comfort zones.
Yes, you are soooo right! Thanks for your awesome comment, i appreciate you 🥰
I always like dogs and I thought it was going to be my dream job being a dog sitter and having my own business.
This is soooo me. I’m 35. I’ve had 16 jobs now and I just recently quit my last one so now I’m back at square one. It’s exhausting.
It sure is exhausting! But i've learned a lot about myself through all these jobs! Good luck with your new endeavors, there are so many wonderful possibilities. Thanks so much for watching and your comment, i appreciate you!! 🥰
Good luck 🍀
The change of mindset for me was "Never look for a job, create one."

You could work sitting down and since serving is a customer service job, you could work as a CSR or sales or all kinds of things using just a computer and phone.

When I retire in a couple years. I plan on going back to school and learn another IT skill...
Chào chị! Rất vui khi gặp chị ở Việt Nam
After i dropped out of my spanish degree after almost failing my first semester with peers of the brightest minds... i wish i went for a business degree because thats how i spent a lot of my last 10 years.
And a lot was due to covid cause i lost 5 years of my life, my marriage, my career, everything :/
But i plan to take some coursera courses in data analytics and project management which i think ive always been stronger at and been doing unknowingly the past 10 years planning and organizing photoshoots, etcetc.
Im also doing data entry now so im very strong at it and so a busienss degree would have adcanced me further. But i will take some coursera courses going forward, hopefully i can jump within my organization(i cant leave my job because my husband and the fantastic PTO .. to see him) lol
Anyway..
This video is so important and its a shame the schools and parents lack the guidance(at least for me) it could have saved me about 20 YEARS of "failures" that could have been prevented. 😒 ce la vie i guess
These kinds of mentorship programs should have been a requirement within the school system for people in high school.
Have you tried applying for jobs at insurance companies or banks?
The best JOB is to have money without working.....the only reason we work is money
I’m going back to school to become a teacher as a second career.
I think thats awesome, Kelly! Teaching and helping people is such a great career choice. Thanks so much for your comment, I really appreciate you! 🥰
unfortunately in real life, most jobs where most ppl enjoy doing doesn't make that much money (i.e. painting, playing musical instruments etc). and jobs where most don't enjoy working like accounting, programmers, paid 6 figures. you could also have a job you don't enjoy and doesn't pay much (retail sales clerks, mcdonald worker, janitors etc.). currently i have an IT support job making 6 figures. i don't hate my job or love my job. but the work balance is great. so i'm gonna stick with it as long as can until i either get laid off from this job.
It’s definitely a balance, thank you for sharing your insight! 🥰
Great suggestions, Kate!! 🥰
Such great advice, Kim! 🥰
Thanks so much for your wonderful support, i appreciate you 🥰
❤
Thank you! 🥰
I had a hard time leaving design because i enjoyed designing and concepting. I think finding other interests might be helpful. Let me know what you decide to do. Good luck in your journey! 🥰
