Please do Joel Repair of the week show!
Wow,never thought of that, that would be waaaaay killer! I'd dig it!✌✌
His work is really interesting and needs to be appreciated, but I'd say... let man do his job, don't make a show out of everything.
I agree 100%
I think Joel should be left off camera to do his thing. The man works wonders. Sometimes he takes a filthy guitar that's all screwed up and doesn't play right, he does a really nice setup on it, but before he does any of that he polishes and cleans the hell out of any dirty guitar and I love that. It really shows that the man takes pride in his work leave the camera out of his freaking face.
Lemmo playing authentic!
Love Joel bring him every week
"If that hurt anybody's feelings..." Great line!
The J45 is one of my favorites ... beautiful guitar.
Lemmo is all kinds of cool today. Big Thanks to Mike, Jen and everyone at Norms.
Birthday is complete! Thank you. Guitar is amazing, actually that would be the ultimate bday gift to myself. Hopefully I can come by soon.
Michael Lemmo displays one of his rarely demonstrated talents. This J45 sings! great job Joel! ML's vocal performance is an extra treat on GOTD. Nice to hear another dimension of ML talent. Jen always great, thanks.
Sings is the word
Was that your song, Lemmo? Great job. Some good vocals there!
Awesome in so many ways! The repair, the playing, now singing! Way to put it all out there. Thanks guys!
John Ladds at first I thought the 54 Gibson was in better shape than me but luckily the Luthier gave us that run down now I feel invincible hehe 😜
How about "repair of the week" as a new feature video?? Joel deserves his own spot!!
Great choice from Dylan. Those New York recordings of Blood on the Tracks are sublime.
A fantastic album.
@@mattrogers1946 My favorite album of all time, by any artist.
It was very interesting listening to Joel explained how he fix that guitar I would love to see a video someday on him working on a guitar like that
The GOTD purists will be livid for weeks after this episode. heheh
Fuck them.. Change°°° evolution will leave them behind.
I’ve watched every GOTD (except maybe a couple “Thumpin’ Thursday’s,” and this is my first comment. I appreciated the luthier’s approach. While fun to watch a driver, a crew chief’s perspective, in my view, improves my appreciation. Singing, also, a good idea. Not every set is an instrumental, oddly. So hearing the harmony of voice and steel helps.
So, I really don’t see a reasonable objection.
Way to go, guys. I always thought it would be good to have the luthier on, not just for the rundown, but also to give 'em the much deserved recognition!
I was wondering if Mark called Norm for his old job back yet?
There’s got to be room for him there
I'm sure he had a conversation with his new employers about the backlash.....
Such a good Dylan song
You made that ol lady sing.
Lemmo you are appreciated
Nothing shows a guitars character better than a good song. Sounded sweet, good work.
Loved this insight into the repair process - should do this more often
Love the singing man. Awesome singing and playing for real
Would love to see a full guitar repair job process.
Not only are you a great guitar player but you've got a good voice. I really enjoyed seeing the J45 repair then watching you play this beautiful guitar incredibly. You got this one out of the park! Way to go Lemno.
Lemmo!! That last song was superb. If the work put into making that guitar sing again was only for just that one song, it was so worthy. Glad it was captured on video. Thank you, all.
Love to watch and listen to a craftsman. Talented guy.
You can sing on any episode of GOTD, that was great!!
Also, really appreciate having Joel explain the work done. Can he be a regular on the episodes where he has repaired the guitar?
that might be the most crisp sounding guitar i've ever heard. its bright, and standing alone by itself.
Amazing vocals from lemmo, I'd love to hear more!
Great work, Joel. Guitar is beautiful.
twist of fate was fantastic - beautiful arrangement. ANd you have a great voice lemmo
My God that was a hit with me. I first drawn to the title because my 1955 j45 is my fave cause it was the first guitar .
You are so very talented 🇨🇦🎸🇨🇦🎸🎸😊🫶🏻
Anyone else think Joel looks like Super Mario ? 🤣🤣🤣
That could well be the best Flat Top Friday ever.
Great job Joel saving that, Michael awesome playing as always - bonus day with really fine vocal, superb production Jen. Thanks to all at Norm's
Makes Mark look like a Guitar Center “local musician”
👏 Lemmo
A Burst Brother 2nd???
Why do you have to knock Mark man? That ain't cool.
Because he always played the same rotation of Dad rock and acted like GOTD was a hassle for him. 👋
@@nosaj666 sniff, sniff
J G please enlighten me, what’s “dad rock”?
Good concert. Liked the concert.
Keep doing what you're doing
Gosh darn it, that's some AUTHENTIC playing!
Hey mike Hey Jen this was one of best episodes to date... the vocals were just super cool and that guitar sounds so sweet...👍
Congratulations Joel you are an artist, great job!
Great bringing in Joel, great videoing and producing Jen, nicely played Mike, J-45 sounds great too, Jeff in LA USA
Beautiful restoration job on a beautiful guitar! Lemmo, ya killed it, kid!
I agree with Guy below. Many guitars need a voice to complement their sound. Great to hear voice and instrument together. Good job Michael.
Can we have more from Joel please. I find the guitar repair he did on this fascinating. I can grantee it would be a hit with him talking about the history and the issues of these beautiful instruments
Hearing from Joel in these segments is a great addition!
I'm in awe amazing so many guitars so much music 🎼🎶
Damn Lemmo you made me cry, that was awesome, best GOTD yet!!
Im about to be the proud owner of a j45 from 1953. This clip has pumped me even more. Such beauties these old J45 s. What was the absolutely gorgeous song at the end?. Greetings from Rotterdam in Holland.
That was frickin great! Had me singing along at the end.
Having Joel go through the restoration process is a real asset for GOTD!
Great job on everyone's part. The information about the guitar and repair, the playing, singing and of course the always great camera work.
Wow, didn’t even listen to the entire demo before commenting . That J-45 sounds incredible! What a cannon. The stories it could tell. Ok back to the rest of the demo…. Thanks!
I feel this time and that guitar were matched for the vocals. I felt that I could enjoy both equally. Great job Michael. Joel was great as well. As someone who doesn't know Jack about guitars I enjoyed him telling us what went on with that guitar. Nice work. Beautiful sound from that one
Lemmo, you rock man! I'd love to hear some more songs with you singing.
Very cool to include the luthier!
It is so important to have professionals like Joel take care of your guitar problems , Luthiers are rather under appreciated in the guitar world but without them we wouldn't have such classic instruments as this J-45 , time is a bitch , and fixing deterioration problems is not something for amateurs to attempt , especially when dealing with classic vintage guitars , thanks Joel , and thanks Lemmo and Jen for bringing us this demo , very well done.
Taking it to another level. Well done Mike and Jen
Mike REALLY GREAT JOB!!! VOCALS WERE 100% SOLID TOO!!! You were made for this gig... Thank You So Much & Thanks Norm Too....
Have a Joel repair episode per week!! Very informative!
Beautiful guitar playing and a very nice voice! Thank you Michael & Jen. 👍👍✌🏼
Love the guitar, love the demo, and love Michael Lemmo! Thanks for playing "Twist Of Fate", one of my favorite Bob Dylan tunes off of an epic album Blood On The Tracks. This was another homerun Michael. Your personality and playing are making people happy. God bless you man!
Fantastic so fun 😎😃
Cool! The J-45 looks alot like my 1963 J-50 with adjustable bridge (an innovation Gibson used to help with setting string action). It was my first guitar, and I’m kind of sentimental about it because my father bought it first for himself, and then gave it to me when I was 11 or 12. I took it to youth camps as a young man, and entertained with it. John Denver, and James Taylor were my major influences, and I worked at that sound. Took it to college, and did some contribution at coffee house performances. And then, at the college, I was blown away when Michael Hedges came to do a coffee house there. His brother was a student there at the time. Needless to say, I had never heard anything like that - the guy was playing with both hands in such a way that it sounded like two guitars coming out of one instrument! Well, I just had to experiment with my sound at that point, but Michael was hard to imitate fully - I remained a fan. After his tragic death, a street near the college was renamed in his honor. After college, my work life stole alot of time away from practicing, and I didn’t play for a few years. The J-50 stayed in the case, dehydrating a bit. I finally pulled it back out of the case, rehydrated, restrung it, and she sounds just like she did many years back. I needed a new guitar with electronics for my participation in a worship band, so bought a Breedlove Stage dreadnought, and re-honed my skills. I played the J-50 for my youngest son, who said when he heard it, “Dad, don’t ever get rid of that older one (guitar), it sounds louder and better.” The J-50 does have a lot of projection, which is why it was a good group leader, performance guitar. I still like it. But I love my Breedlove too for the piano-like clarity and slightly more mellow woody sounds of the Indian Rosewood, vs. the Mahogany. I’ll probably give the Gibson to my son one day, so he can begin his voyage into guitars, or maybe just carry this heirloom forward.
Some do you right...And some do you wrong, Dear Michael, ...I don't wanna ever...not hear you sing...this Song...
Brilliant Singing Brother, Know That! Kudos Brother, Kudos!
Every great guitar store needs a great guitar tech!!(At least one!) That acoustic sounds beautiful. I love acoustic guiitar. Electric guitars usually get overwhelmed with effects and volume...acoustics are so pure and wonderful. Especially really expensive ones. Don't kid yourself, you can hear money.
Joel is awesome and very interesting insight. Please keep having him on to break down the guitars he's worked on.
love that song you were singing. great to get joel on
Wow! Joel did wonderful work on that guitar.
I am really enjoying you having Joel on to discuss whatever issues have been corrected on these old acoustics. Please make this a recurring segment! I used to love Gibson guitars but lately I've lost interest in "playing authentic". Love what you bring to GOTD!
Hey Mike, could you do some Elliot Smith songs next Flat-top friday???? His songs are some of the best acoustic tunes ever!
@Lord Jagged good call
Check out “Between the Color Bars” channel.
Great job MIKE LEMMO! Good song the Gibson is great
Beautiful song. Loved the singing.
Hey Lemmo, Guitar of the day is yours,
best performance in the 3 or so years of the series!
The repair detail is really informative. More!
Great vocals!
What an authentic experience
Love this show, and yes that guitar sounded excellent! It's gotta be a TON of fun picking up different guitars and writing something to compliment them! Edit: The vocals were good also, really showcased the guitar in context.
Great Playing as always & keep on singing! I own a pretty similar J45 from 1955 😎...i think you nailed the sound of "simple twist of fate" Thanks!! 👍🎸🤩
Really cool love it 👍
A California Neck Set uses a very thin saw to slice through the neck at the 14th fret, or where the neck and body meet, to separate the neck from the body. It is later either bolted back together or doweled and glued to make everything one again. Not the prefered method of doing a neck re-set.
“Reset neck” means so much more to me now. You have a stressful job Joel!
aaaaah.... good playing, singing, Lemonhead..... would like to hear more of it, but ONLY with a rare guitar
I always admire the creative "Lemmo" sound
Wow nice job Michael I’m a big fan of your playing on all those vintage guitars now after hearing you sing wow you are the real deal. Btw I could hear it in jens excitement she thinks so too and I bet norm is proud to have you on his team.
Beautiful song and Best episode yet! Lemmo’s evolving into a true host/show 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
I love how he works at normans and calls a 54' j-45 "an extremely expensive instrument" got a good little chuckle out of that!
I learned acoustic guitar on my grandfather's pre war j-45 ...over 20 years ago...I learned electric guitar on my dads 70's Fender Tele..good times!
Good song lemmo! I also like when Joel is on.
It was cool to see how the guitar was repaired
What a great version of Bob Dylan song got to hand it to you Michael
Great stuff guys, thanks to Joel - nice to see some of the work you do
Great demo of a fantastic sounding instrument. Love lemmos voice too, more like this please !
about made me cry lemmo, my dad used to sing a james taylor song that sounded really similar to that. love it. keep with the vocals man i dig it
In the first song Jen got a great shot of Lemmo's right hand muting technique......beautiful!!!
Great Vidya, your best yet. The vocal took it over the top. Awesome job.
Like Joel 's down to earth demeanor and his easy to understand explanation
Outstanding episode! Gorgeous instrument and nice vocals!
What an amazing sounding instrument ❤❤
Sounds great! Love a J-45. Sweet.
Great song Michael
Really enjoyed your singing aswell. Nice touch.
Bravo...
