Captain, thanks for Ben. Ben,.... smokin' awesome! I received my J45 at age 9 and played no other until this year, and am now 66 years old. It has been kept current with electrification, beautifully hidden, and maintained by the best luthier's hand in the state of Minnesota. It is a blessing to see my style played by young and more capable hands. "The Gibson", as my friends call her has been retired to studio work only. That voice has bloomed over the 50+ years and is insanely beautiful.
Two sets of NOS frets have been worn through and replaced and 3 months in the shop to make her pristine again last summer. Can't wait to hear you do more. Do anything! But just please never stop. I didn't and am so so glad. I am stealing a couple of your licks, just too tasty to let go. Good on ya!

Just purchased the standard. I compared it with a martin d-18. I'm a martin guy. I have a d-35 and hd-28 but the j-45 brought a smile to my face. The action was great and it's a beautiful guitar. Most martins needs the action lowered. So I didn't have the extra cost of a set up I actually played it in church the next day. I did change the strings to elixir 12s which gave it an even better tone. Not knocking the d-18 but give the j-45 a try if you're looking for a mahogany guitar.

I am doing research for buying my first high quality guitar; (of course as an older singer/songwriter type) I started with Martin, went to Taylor, and then went to Gibson. I was instantly surprised by Gibson. I didn't know Gibson. Your video helped me settle on the J-45 Standard. Thank you very much for such fine quality reviewing and demonstrating.

I’d love to have you guys cover the SJ-200, D-28 Modern Deluxe, and Taylor 717 GP.

The sound of the standard vs. deluxe, though noticeable, has its purposes. For players only and flat pickers, the mahogany shines in the mid range. For singer/songwriters like me, the sweet highs and deeper lows, along with a slightly diminished mid range, accompanies vocals perfectly. A dominant mid range can often compete with a vocalist. Both are beautiful and both have their niche. Thanks for the great video!

I prefer rosewood because it plays softer to me, but can be pushed by playing hard and gritty on it. But takes out the shrilly highs and basey lows that can get a bit mushy. It's just overall rounded sound to me that I love for melodic chords and fingerpicking. The studio I love to play along with friends cuz of the projection and lack of bass. Love the video. Such beautiful guitars one day I will get one, when my skills warrant it lol

real good comment from the guy on the left side, when he mentions that maybe you are going to play with somebody else/Band etc.
In my acoustic project we tried 4 acoustics intensely with the singer.
The acoustic has to be matched with the voice of the singer in volume, general tone and (most important) eq.
so the moment you intend to play with a singer, dont forget to bring him when you select your guitar at andertons.
