wtf is wrong with this crowd? I'd be jumping up and down like a buffoon! The riff to the Fly is exhilarating but that Edge Solo is orgasmic! Best thing he has ever done.
I was there. Best concert of my life. My favorite band of all time playing at my favorite venue of all time. Simply perfect. No other band even begins to compare to seeing U2 live.
I say this to all U2 songs. This is “one” of U2’s best !!! Even better in concert !!! U2 is so alive in this song. The Edge gets good workout playing guitar to this song. It’s no secret !!!! The Jimerator
I was there in front of the stage. The floor crowd was pretty good. The city of Lansing said the show had to be over by 10:00pm and since it was June 30th, it doesn't get dark in Michigan until 9:30. It was a good show.
Cuatro genios tocando una pieza maestra de rock en estado puro. Uno de mis temas favoritos de U2. Achtung Baby es sin ningúna duda una maravilla de la historia del rock.
For my money this is their best song in a lot of different ways/areas. The lyrics are brilliant. His use of metaphor/analogy/hyperbole is absolutely epic. The bass on the song is Adam at his very best. Edge is.. well.. Edge. True masterpiece. What they were trying to achieve with this album coming off of Joshua Tree/Rattle and Hum, peaked with this track. As much as One(or Mysterious Ways) is probably the most popular/well known song on Achtung Baby, and So Cruel may be the best melody they’ve ever created on any album, The Fly to me is U2 at their most U2est.
its U2's best ever song.... not just becuase of what it was, what it sounded and looked like at the time but what it came from... just think back... we'd had the Joshua Tree, world wide mega success, then the excellent Rattle and Hum (though the band still don't think so)... then silence... 'we need to go away and dream it all up again...' Then they come back with this.... THIS...!... After breaking one song into two at Hansa Studios...(how brave was that?) giving us Ultraviolet and ... THE FLY... a full on, sonic attack on yer senses... full on or go home. When it would have been so easy to just churn out Joshua Tree type stuff ...'forever' It was a BIG risk, I even think they could have brought The Fly out under a fake name it was so far from their previous work (certainly later with Lemon).. Many people in life hit a high, and many milk it whilst it lasts... to have the guts to move on, move forward, explore, dare to take a risk and be scared.... Its not only a great song in their armor of great songs... it's no.1 for me for that reason...
Very well said and I agree 100%! Unfortunately, the large majority of fans don't understand the significance of The Fly. The music video is cool as well...Not to mention it brought out Bono's Fly Character that pushed the Zoo TV tour to the level of Epic and well before it's time. We are here in 2017, and ZooTV would still look cutting edge!
Best U2 Song ever: a superb riff and a extraordinary songconstruction. The Crowd was drugged and dazed: maybe Edge's solo (his absolutely best solo) had the force to paralyze the audience...
hahahaha ...i think your right, either that or they didn't know they were heading into the stadium to see a concert. Maybe they thought it was a college football game?
what a pathetic crowd my dear Lord...what on the earth did they go to a U2 concert if people are not driven insane by such a rocking song like the Fly?And by the way, what a class performance by U2!The Fly certainly has to feature the best guitar solo by Edge! This live version is simply fantastic
After several watching this musically really finest tune... as U2.. I would NEVER ever play East Lansing and their smartphone junkies again for the next 30 years. If so, than just for fun itself.
U2 made one of their best live performances of that song, according to the video - and no one is intererested :D Well, that might be some kind of Punkrock. However, look at the light. Fly is a dark song that shold be have it´s appaearance in the dark... The more better it works as a rock thing outside the dark. Who cares about the audience with that? ;) F*ck the audiance! Blame them to the wall as they deserved it! Really good artwork.
Yeah. I feel that the reason people arent jumping up and down and moving is they just are not comfortable yet. It feels more awkward to jump in a lot of concerts just a song or too in, especially if its still light out.
wow, that's great! you make me thinking that you pointed destination of human kind - free market - where everyone can do their best for passion and with passion for everyone! and this is love!
My girlfriend at the time wanted to leave early @360 Glasgow... I walked her out put her in a taxi home... and went back in for this... we left each other that night.
I was there. Could not get anyone to dance with me and I am a straight white male which makes me a really poor dancer. But "when in Rome"! The crowd was labotomized
I think the poor reception of the audience is due in part to the time the show is being played. I mean, who could possibly enjoy an immense spectacle like U2 played at 2 pm for fuck's sake? :D
Obviously you don't have a clue what you're talking about. There's a ton of daylight during that time of the year. Much of that concert occurred at night as well. I know....I was there.
Pure u2 power ,the crowd are as pathetic as the Glastonbury one , at least it rained there ! Do that Coldplay before you try and get ur soft gay pop music compared to these rock god mothers
This song never gets old. Never.
im glad U2 has not told you tube to take this down. I love fan multi cam videos. sometimes it more raw than what pros do.
wtf is wrong with this crowd? I'd be jumping up and down like a buffoon! The riff to the Fly is exhilarating but that Edge Solo is orgasmic! Best thing he has ever done.
One of the best versions I've heard of The Fly. Can hear Adams base run down at 30 secs, brilliant

Great performance. This song has such a drive, it could fly you to the other galaxies!
The best live version of the fly I have heard, great sound!

I love this video! I was so happy to be in the audience at this concert in East Lansing, U2 rocked Spartan Stadium!!!
hundjm Me too!
Cuatro genios tocando una pieza maestra de rock en estado puro. Uno de mis temas favoritos de U2. Achtung Baby es sin ningúna duda una maravilla de la historia del rock.
It's no secret, that U2 is pure awesomeness. Bono sounds like an archangel of rock.
He sounds like ans an angel cause he is
11 years ago today! Hard to believe! These guys need to get back on tour.

Vampires forced to perform in daylight. Great song, great band.
I never get sick of this song, one of their best. Underated song, an epic rock song to get you psyched!!
imo one of u2's most underated songs along with red hill mining town
Top 5 U2 song all time for me!!!! Even better live!!!

It’s not underrated , it went straight to no 1 in 1991 knocking off a song that had been there for 5 months, when music was music
@@G_Ellis606 Agree! Always better live!
Quite a funky, rocking version of the Fly. Still doesn't beat the original zootv version.
Elevation tour- Boston- my favorite version
Best U2 Song ever: a superb riff and a extraordinary songconstruction. The Crowd was drugged and dazed: maybe Edge's solo (his absolutely best solo) had the force to paralyze the audience...

Vampires in daylight? Great song, thanks for putting this clip up.
Crowd was stoned by U2 awesomeness. They couldnt move
Lolllll 😁
hahahaha ...i think your right, either that or they didn't know they were heading into the stadium to see a concert. Maybe they thought it was a college football game?
@@grantgaring7824 if I heard them play the fly I would be in shock so maybe everyone was mesmerized by The Fly
I would've been too..
Yeah, that's the reason
What a performance by the Edge 😮😮
Better than the original :-)
Don’t understandwhy the crowd doesn t go insane Probably the best live version of the song … fabulous greasy and mesmerizing
Epic performance. Saw U2 in 2011.

Jerard Norgren Good point.
good sound quality & loud. thank you 1-18-21
Esta es La Mejor versión en vivo de THE FLY.
Sensational performance!
After several watching this musically really finest tune... as U2.. I would NEVER ever play East Lansing and their smartphone junkies again for the next 30 years. If so, than just for fun itself.
That riff is great!!!
parabéns pela edição, ficou maravilhoso!!!
Я балдею с такой кучи народа, пришедшей на рок-концерт и стоящей как на дне города.
Fanfreakingtastic. This performance of the song is the best I've ever heard, and this is an amazing edit to boot. Well done.
This is rock'n'roll 🖤😎
Love this sound. Good acoustics from here. Guitars yay
What a dead crowd. I'm from Michigan and saw U2 at Heinz Field for their Joshua Tree tour -- 30th anniversary and I had an effing blast.
No alcohol @ Spartan stadium.
listen to the edge jesus what a fuckin sound....
Wow I was there! Very cool!!
Incredible recording. Could you send me the MP3's from this concert?
Bono's new guitar looks cool, I think it is a custom Telecaster, what do you guys think
best band in the world
Beautiful!!!
Impresionante como suenan.
U2!
What a riff by the Edge"*****
insuperable !!!
how many bands today say they can sell out stadiums, practically anywhere on earth.....can count them on 1 finger or less than that...
u2 was on fire
AMAZING!
The Fly Best🕶

Amazing!!!
Ha ha, crowd don’t know what to do lol. Edge you weapon.👏🇦🇺
Did the Edge call it grunge when he invented it?
Still daylight was this only a few songs in.
So good
Looks like U2’s chauffeur took a wrong turn and landed them at the Peter Paul and Mary packed concert. That crowd is dead.
Bono play guitar in this son? i never saw him doing it..
My girlfriend at the time wanted to leave early @360 Glasgow... I walked her out put her in a taxi home... and went back in for this... we left each other that night.
Biggest band on earth
i believe it's name is the the Fender Squier Telecaster Custom Bono make
eh. i think by the way the body is shaped, it is a squier and if so, it looks like the only major change is the scratchplate (which has gone)
Il delirio è credere di credere in ciò che si crede...
what does Bono say in the beginning ??????
When Bonos guitar actually serves a purpose
Matt Urban 😂 yeah I think that’s one of the very few times you can actually hear it!
10 years
IMPRESIONANTE
Remember it's custom so the shape doesn't really change anything, I've seen genuine US Tele's in that shape
And he did it again... Eeeeeeeedge........ .2:40
Oh HELL yeah!
I haven't seen public colder in my life
I was there. Could not get anyone to dance with me and I am a straight white male which makes me a really poor dancer. But "when in Rome"! The crowd was labotomized
Wtf Man 🤘🔥💪👊
💚
Crowd is spellbound in silence
Now... that's a cool fender telecaster...
❤❤❤❤
Were the audience corpses propped up? What an unresponsive lot!
Alguém gosta do que é bom no BRASIL? Por favor se sim dê um like.
A lifeless crowd! How sad!!!!!!!!!!! An amazing U2 song!
No Alcohol served at this college football stadium.
Como puede estar la gente tan quieta????
Incantata
They know how the rock a big stadium.
❤️🎸
I think the poor reception of the audience is due in part to the time the show is being played. I mean, who could possibly enjoy an immense spectacle like U2 played at 2 pm for fuck's sake? :D
people who have to be in bed for 7?

Crowd seems to impress..
a person not lived the experience 360
Go Green!!!! Home of Michigan State Football
Wow, you can actually hear Bonos guitar.
Fuckin' Edge, man!!
It's not a visual feast when the band Omit BELIEVE
Achtung Y’all!
Pure u2 power ,the crowd are as pathetic as the Glastonbury one , at least it rained there ! Do that Coldplay before you try and get ur soft gay pop music compared to these rock god mothers
Pffffttttt......step AWAY from the crack pipe.
Bono signature telecaster... fender.. make it happen....
Bono can afford better than a Squier, I think it is a genuine US Tele custom
I see one woman dancing WTF.. this version is rocking, cmon people tap those feet
Almost looks like cardboard cutout crowd... honestly is any one moving...WTF
Epic song but having a U2 concert in the day is weird
I saw u2 at the sphere it was magical but Larry is missing . More agressive in the drums more power . The new guy is good but he s no Larry
