This fitting process blew my mind. The idea of getting more forgiveness for his particular swing by going to a blade over a thicker sole in the 919 forged is amazing. Overly impressed!

Honestly does anyone ever get anything short of an excellent fit from TXG? I’ve seen dozens of these videos now and every time it seems Ian and Matt can get the best out of the customer. Gotta be one the top fitters in the world!

Awesome to see the blades performed so much better for Michael. Dispelling the myth that they're "only for tour pros". The turf interaction is something that's often widely ignored. Great job, once again. Best golf channel on youtube for educating us hacks, lol.

This fit smashed any ideas I had around strike/forgiveness and club head. Any other fitter I know would’ve gone “let’s have a look at the Hot Metal” so impressive!

You addressed a normally overlooked aspect in the fitting process. Namely the turf interaction of the club. Good catch! It certainly changed the direction of the iron selected in the fitting.

It was very interesting to see how you guy’s explained everything! I’m playing Bridgestone J33 combos for over 10 yrs and love them but have never been to a fitting! Awesome to see the breakdown, great job!

Great video. Seeing Michael hitting the MP20's made me miss my MP32's. I'd like to learn more about how the narrower blade helped his turf interaction better than the wider sole. I would have guessed the opposite.
This is so cool for Michael, I'm happy for him. Have had myself been fitted just recently here. But if you guys ever open a branch in Europe and are in the shop, I'll be your first customer :) Keep going, for me you are the most informative and enjoyable channel at the moment!

The fitting is incredible guys, I'm in the UK but would love to get custom built with you guys. I'm going for a proper full fitting in December over here and this video has me really excited as I'm sure my current Ap1s are complete wrong for me as I've improved alot. Great video as always boys. Way to go Michael! As the fitting went forward, you started to feel more "in the zone" resulting in a more consistent stroke. I have a feeling, as you move forward to your other clubs your results will be even better; on behalf of all the TXG fans: Best wishes. Moreover, I/we look forward to the other upcoming videos. Amazing contest and amazing conclusion to have him come and get fit. Really great for the viewers to get to see you fit a random golfer that's not going to pure everything and work your magic. Great job by Michael too for performing so well under the microscope on the big stage. It's not easy. Just can't say enough about this channel. I won a free full bag fitting this year as well and it completely unlocked my game.

I would love to get a fitting as good as this too, when my fitting for my irons was done the only thing that was considered was my power and my swing speed but they still turned out well, I wondered how much more optimized it could have been tho

A proper club fitting. It just demonstrates to me how short changed the vast majority of us get when going to get fit. Most fitters wouldn't dream of putting an 8 handicap in a set of MP-20s and never think about combo sets either. I got fit for the 919 forged in the modus 120's and I've lost distance consistency with interaction with the turf, might have to look at these myself.

Great job! Really interesting how much lie angle impacted club-turf interaction. Question for guys is lie angle more based on swing characteristics or physical aspects of your body like height, arm length ?

I've been playing ap1s for 5 seasons now and I've improved a decent amount. 9 handicap now. I've been struggling with turf interaction more than anything with my irons. I'm excited to try the hmbs or mmcs and see if it helps!

I was 100%same- i strike blades better despite being an average player. thinner sole helped me massively. also having a "blade" made me really focus and concentrate on strike which i guess helped a lot too.
incidentally i play in florida too- so i wonder if thats partly why i like the narrow sole too, since you mentioned florida turf.
Another giveaway would be nice for Christmas with all this going on!! Keep it up guys..

Interesting fitting. This and Mark Crossfields recent video on "Improvement Irons vs Blades" taking D-Loft into the equation is making me seriously question what type of irons I should go for next, even as a high handicapper. My iron strike is pretty good in terms of location. The "turf interaction" comment from Ian is an eye-opener.
Interested to see through the rest of the fit if you investigate whether it would be worth Michael looking at Hybrids in the 4 and 5 instead of the irons.

It is great to someone that is a ‘normal’ golfer getting fit to see the process for someone much closer to my skill level.
I started golf again after four years and wow! Im very happy that I came across this channel. Im thinking of getting mizunos, how do I know what will be the best irons for me. I shoot 78 to 84 depending on the weather. I like blades just dont know which one is good for me. Any advice. thanks.

Very interesting comment about the grip height. I definitely fall into that category, and gripping down does not feel comfortable. Playing a longer shaft increases swing weigh and (generally) can soften flex. Does “extending” length via grip position impact flex?

@TXG Tour Experience Golf Can you please expand your discussion on giving Michael an iron with a thinner sole because he was hitting it a little thick? I would expect normally that you'd give a player hitting it thick a more buoyant sole? I only ask because I am in a very similar situation where my hcp is higher than it should be to play very bladelike irons but when I got fit the Cobra MB/CB was a decisive winner. I too find that I struggle with a depth of strike mis-hit rather than toe/heel. Loving them so far but I think I'm going to come up and see you guys (I'm in London) for a gapping session as I'm having some clustering issues at the long end.

So sad I didn’t win this contest. Mizunos are my favorite clubs and to get fitted by the best in the game would have been amazing.
These 2 guys are unbelievable fitters and ball strikers. I wish I lived in Canada. I am a 3-5 hcp and have decided to get a proper club fitting. Never have had one in the past. Me and my wife are now proud owners of a golf course so will hopefully be playing more golf. Closest club fitter to me is club champion. I can only hope they are half as good as these gentlemen. Always a pleasure to watch !! 👍👍👊👊
