Looking at buying a property with a similar set up, wanting to build above the single storey garage. Thanks for the video showing some of the process to me, good stuff 👍🏻

Hi Mark, I have a single garage which is attached to the main building, I am planning to do the extension on top of the garage, don’t have any ideas of the total cost. Where are you based please? I hope you could come and have a look at it if you live at surrounding areas of Birmingham? Cheers
Hi mate I am sorry I am in north Yorkshire it's a bit far for me .best thing to do is get 2 to 3 quotes and go from there or ask friends if they know a builder that's done work for them 👍
@@markhep thanks to let me know Mark. 👍👍
@@michaelfu8605 no problem mate if you was near me I would have definitely come and give you a price .it's probably going to be at £1.700 to £2000 per square meter.totaly finished but that's just an estimate . that's what it is in Yorkshire for my prices anyway
Big man love the roll ups hi lol 😆 😂
H needs a few when he is digging 😂👍👍
Love a good roll up me mate 🤣🤣🤣
Helps the day go in. Fingers be a bit cold this time of year for the rollin. But it never stops us....
Very informative video.when digging mine I went 110 cm deep before hitting the concrete which was 25cm deep
Pritty high then Hay 👍👍👍
Good one 👍, thanks for the vid.
Cheers David 👍👍👍
Did you enjoy your ice skating in York at the weekend?
Hi Billy. Yes was good fun. I was knackered at the end of it 😂😂😂kids loved it
Looking at buying a property and building on top of a double garage but we can't find any info on how deep the foundations are. If they're not deep enough is there a way to build on top still pr is it game over. Don't wanna spend 350k on a "what if"
Hi mate yes you can under pin it. Which is dig under and pour concrete in. Or take down and rebuild the lot. Whatever is cheaper really. But if the building is not really old. Most builders put in enough to build on top. Only ones I have had problems with not enough concrete are the detached garage. That's not connected to house. But you never know on any till you dig down. Hope this was of some use to you 👍👍👍
@@markhep well this is attached on one side but not accessible via the home also it was an Extention. Just pissing me off not knowing hahaha. Its make or break if we buy the property. Its perfect for us and exactly what we want but can't get it if we can't build the 4th bedroom. Hahaha thanks for taking the time out of your day to reply.
@@UkFisherman81lbhi mate, im currently in the same position and just curious waht the end result of yours was?
I'm currently doing this at my property, I've dug down to the foundation slab , it is 500mm from ground level , I've now gone down the side of the slab currently at 300mm still haven't fount the bottom of the foundation , how deep does it need to be to pass for extension ontop of garage? Is the measurement from ground level? Or from where the foundation starts and ends? So many different things online etc
Concrete min is 250mm. I would say that is a pass with it been at that depth and a thick slab 👍👍👍
@@markhep amazing mate 👌
hi im having an extension on top of garage , but builder has not mention test holes , planning been approved . will test holes need to be done regardless of planning and builder not saying ?
all help would be appreciated .
Hi steve. Yes the building inspector will definitely want a hole digging so he can see if is safe to build on. I would not worry too much because most foundations are made deep enough to build on top I future. You have to be really unlucky. I would probably get a hole dug and get inspector in at least a week before you start. And go from there. You have to let the inspector know a week or two before starting work anyway usley. Hope this was helpful 👍
Where are u based pal?
Yorkshire mate 👍
Get well Mark 👍🏻🧱
Will do mate 👍👍👍😉
