As a lifelong resident of Connecticut I have found it both sad and amusing that after having our namesake ship lead the great white fleet as flagship, the 2nd most notable action of one of our namesakes was being attacked by a polar bear.
How didn't I know that USS Olympia is docked in Philly? I lived in Allentown for 6 years and I've been to King of Prussia and Philly many times, but I never knew that the Olympia was docked there. I'll have to take the family there sometime.

Always wondered why the fleet couldn’t make it to visit the home of the the most powerful navy of the time. Having done sterling relief work in the Mediterranean they just avoided Great Britain. Could it be they didn’t want to upset Admiral Fisher, who had a tendency to overreact.

Biggest two things U.S. got from the Great White Fleet. 1. Diplomatic Boost. 2. Learned where they were really lacking in fleet support and now have ideas on how to correct that.

You forgot one of the great white ships when you listed them..USS Olympia which is a museum ship in Philadelphia. Oh, you said the ships were battleships, I do believe they were battlecruisers.
Actually, I was surprised myself given her paint job, but Olympia wasn’t part of the Great White Fleet. And the majority of the Great white fleet if not all were battleships, look at them during WW1, especially the Connecticut.
They would have been pretty impressive if they had built battlecruisers, since they were only a gleam in Europe's eye at the time, specifically Jackie "Jackrum" Fisher...

funny, uss kearsarge is the only us battleship ever not named after a state... meanwhile Montana is the only state (that was a state at the time) that never got a BB named after it... they did have an armoured cruisers tho... but hawaii, alaska and Guam each had a "big cruiser" a heavy cruiser with 12 inch guns named for them in WWII....

I believe its a fictional ship. The models I've seen looks like they ripped a model of the Olympic and added Cunard funnel colorings.
