I enjoy wiring and I rellay want to pull the pre-made harness back out of my car and buy the un-terminated or build your own harness from holley and rewire it. It's in a turbo Pontiac G8 with a 6.0L .030 over with forged internals and some cnc heads. Anyhow thanks for sharing man 👍 Subscribed.
Thanks for taking the time. Very helpful for the harness itself but also gives me a much better overview of how automotive wiring should be in general.
Thank you for the great info I've done one Terminator install now I'm doing one on my car the more you do the better ideas you get for a cleaner install
Devin, Thank you for all of the helpful gems that you put out for us. I am also building a convertible fox so your videos have been super helpful, By chance could you do a video of the wire twisting (Concentric wire twist) Thanks in advance.
seriously some great content, attention to detail and mapping out the branches truly make the end result top notch! Always First Class results only wish you were closer, I'd have you do my whole car with RacePak, not many known wiring people that I'm aware of, so I'll take that plunge and get better at wiring
Would love to see basic wire twisting additionally could you show how to carry a shielded cable through a bulkhead connector is it as simple as cut and seal back the shield on both sides of the bulkhead or is it more involved
you pass the shield thru the bulkhead just like every other wire , difference is you use a piece of clear (doesnt have to be clear just what i do) heat shrink to insulate it
Hey David subscribed late in the game and been going through your videos but i cant find the video where you go over union, branch outs or junction. Splitting grounds etc
Thank you Devin This is exactly what I needed for my bastard turbo Buick V6 build I don’t want to spend $1000 on a custom harness from the only person that makes a Holley harness for my set up That still doesn’t work very well
Great info as always!! You the man. I got a kick when John doc called you wanting to wire his Colorado, you do it last you fool. I pretty much just watch jd for entertainment, but that grand national is getting pretty fast, and Ben seems like he knows what he’s doing. Is your car up and running?
Awesome video man! How many different pairs of crimping tools do you need to make a harness... I have the fox body specific kit and it seems like a lot of the stuff is too long was wanting to shorten certain things but didn't want to buy four different pairs of crimpers to make it happen...thanks.
From how I'm hearing you describe how the fuel pump turns on is "when the ECU sees an RPM signal, the fuel pump will then turn on". What if I wanted the fuel pump to turn on when you turn the key on before cranking the engine? Will the Dominator do that? And also, will the Dominator provide an automatic initial KOEO fuel injector pre-squirt before the engine cranks?
Which do you recommended the terminated harness or the on terminated harness for if you want to remove certain things and you will not use that comes with the terminated harness?
Maybe I missed something. But if you traditionally use the fuel pump relay output to power the coils and injectors... where do you usually pull from to power the fuel pump relay? And do you recommend another one of those MSD relays blocks to do it with? Thx!
"High & tight" ? Some military experience somewhere, either personally or thru freinds &/or family? Regardless, I have said this before, these videos are so on point. And I have over 20 years experience building high performance engines & high end fabrications, so I can weed out those who are just making videos & those who really know what they're talking about. I would advise actually paying attention, & listening to these fine little details talked about in these.
I’ve looked for info on running a bulkhead connector with the shielded cables and I’m finding a lot of mixed answers on the subject. How to you do the shielded wires when using them
Devin, if you were using a bulkhead connector instead of the firewall grommet would you still do the sensor 5V, and Ground splits before the bulkhead connector, and the same for the other splits? This seems like it would really increase the pin count on the bulkhead connector. Your videos are great, and I appreciate the plug humor!
Do you draw a wiring schematic for your customers so they have some idea as to where all the wires are going, or, do you provide the a pin out for the various connectors only?
I bought the 588-105 unterminated wiring harness for my 4.3 V6. I have a Syclone intake that I had modified to fit one the Vortec heads. I am putting the LS1 stock injectors and coil packs on it. I saw that the injectors have a connection from terminal 30 on the fuel pump relay. I will need to make a sub harness for the injectors. My question is, does that wire from terminal 30 go to on terminal on each injector?
Check his other videos, he goes over crimpers and whatnot. Also check out MILSpecwiring.com - they sold wire by the foot vs 50 or 100ft lengths and had striped wire too. KSVLooms had lots of connectors.
Thanks brotha working on doin my first harness jus trying to get my shit together before i start. your vids definitely have taught me and helped me so much 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 thank you
Do I have to pin the drain wire in the shielded cable on both sides of the connector. Sorry for the questions brotha this is last step that's got me stumpped
Great video as always Devin! Wish I had your videos to reference when I cut my Holley harness in half to do my bulkheads. Not sure if I would go that route again, lol. I have an issue right now when I hit a bump driving down the road, the car cuts out for a split second. Not sure where to start, system log, coil wires, injector wires, any suggestions? Thanks
To me schematics are like road maps my dad worked on robotics had 3 on board computers one machine had 44thousand moving parts he use to bring home boards and let me replace capacitors diodes IC Chip's etc when I was 5 that was in 85 it's amazing how far technology has advanced I have invented many things I have some really good ideals you might be interested in id love to work with you on some
Do you use the holley to trigger the fuel pump on cars with an electric pump or just run it off a switch? I was gonna run the A2 wire to my PMU but don't know if it's worth doing or just using a switch on the dash. Thanks
After installing my first Holley “universal” harness and realizing it fits like a saddle on a pig, I will probably take my time and learn while building my own next time. It actually fits a lot worse than my almost 20 year old Commander 950 EFI harness
I’ve seen a ton of people having issues with grounds for the coils going to each cylinder head. The ground that comes from the ecu is the only ground I saw in the video. Is that only on pre terminated harnesses or is that built in the to the coil harness off the coils. Any info would help
I don’t see how you haven’t blown up. I’ve learned a ton. But kinda wanna get you to wire my truck just so I can bullshit with you when I drop it off lmao
I prefer some sort of loom over heat shrinking the whole thing. That way if you need to change out something it is possible. Heat shrink the ends or atleast good tape.
Alcohol car, that stuff is waaay corrosive and nasty. Loom would soak it and hold it against the wire. It won't soak into heatshrink. A fire would suck!
Doing the Lord's work here, Devin... outstanding content.
I’ve always wanted to learn proper and clean wiring. Thank you so much for the knowledge you post it helps a ton
I’ve watched this video at least 4 times. Great information. Thanks! I’m starting on my harness this week.
Awesome content helped explain a lot on to building my first non terminated harness.
This is great stuff. Bless you for taking the time to help the regular guy.
Love your video's very informative and a bit of humor as you go.
Well done Devin. Anything worth doing is worth doing it right. You do things right. Keep up the good work.

I love every single one of your videos. I appreciate the sarcasm
Amazing video, thanks so much! I should have bought an unterminated harness. My term x max harness does not fit the car very well.
All of your videos are so helpful, thank you for doing these!
Amazing content & I love your work.
You should call this video "Holley harness install for Water heads" Lmfao I love the way you explain it.
glad to see you uploading a new vid!

At 24:30 what is the rubber grommet passthrough that's in the firewall called? Link to buy? Thanks.

no mine is still apart havent had much time to work on my own stuff lately
What is the best connector and pin location to use to trigger the parachute fire suppression system Devin?
Awesome video man! How many different pairs of crimping tools do you need to make a harness... I have the fox body specific kit and it seems like a lot of the stuff is too long was wanting to shorten certain things but didn't want to buy four different pairs of crimpers to make it happen...thanks.
watch my video called strippers and crimpers for holley efi
How much of a difference would tenzel wire be vs the Holley harness on weight and size savings?

What ignition only ECU would you recommend for a street driven V8 coil on plug distributorless ignition. Excellent content.very helpful

Why do you not like using the inputs and outputs from j1a and j1b?
can you show how to set up PWM for electric fans in the terminator xmax, If it will do it?
What’s the story with the shield/ground wire??? Just cut it and don’t connect to anything????
Devin, if you were using a bulkhead connector instead of the firewall grommet would you still do the sensor 5V, and Ground splits before the bulkhead connector, and the same for the other splits? This seems like it would really increase the pin count on the bulkhead connector. Your videos are great, and I appreciate the plug humor!
When using a bulkhead i do my splits on the engine side of bulkhead in the boot for the bulkhead
What do you do with J1-B14 EST ground if you're using a MSD 8000 CDI? Thanks Devin, you da man.
you run j1b14 to the msd pro 600 pin 10 on the smaller connector
Great video , thanks!
Do you draw a wiring schematic for your customers so they have some idea as to where all the wires are going, or, do you provide the a pin out for the various connectors only?
i do both actually for every customer

yes if building your own subharness youll need to get power from terminal 30 for each injector
Where do you get your bulk wiring and sensor connectors?
Should put links to materials in your description.

Can you terminate the cam and crank leads to a bulkhead connection then continue on other side oth shielded wire
Yep

Your awesome Devin. Mate you can wire my car anyday. I can wire but nothing like you. Great diagrams. Lost me ages ago.🤟🤟🤙👆🤘👊✌️🖖👋👌🆒😭🤣🤣

Awesome, as always 👍
Iv got a haltech ❤️ but I love holly efi so sweet and simple good vid. to just refresh brain

Yes I do
How did you heat shrink the break out/ in junction ?
Power while cranking!!!

that is built into the coil subharness
Hey Devin? What is the part number of the MSD relay set you’re using? MSD-75643? Or, is it the 35amp version of it? Thanks!
in this video its the non high current version, they werent out when we made this one. but we have since switched to the high current version
Devin, thanks for the reply.
Where can someone get the blown up wiring schematic
i have them made at kinkos
Hey Devin, curious if you still get the same questions since released this video.
Yes
@@theholleyefiguy imagine that. lead a horse to water.
damn dude learning so much from your channel.......
Man, this video has been out for 2 years and nobody else caught a Tommy Boy reference?

Are you tying shield cable back to ecu?
the shield on cam and crank get tied into the cam and crank ground pin yes
@@theholleyefiguy ok thought shield would go to a14. good to know
@@BotelloPerformance uhhhh , they do lol as well as the ground wires for the sensors
Man I would love to get some of those wires out of you, in fact all of those wires on the table
This has to have power while cranking and with key on.....
great info thanks
I also listen to bloodhound gang while building cars
Please take the computer controller out of the Vise ! Informative vid
Man I’ll bet turbo johns car drives you nuts 😂
If you don't understand a relay.. probably shouldn't be wiring an ecm.
Just saying.
Quit using chassi grounds and run isulated grounds only with the same size conductors as the current carry conductors 😮
🤣
im missing the funny part i guess
