    Really creative work. Whoever called you a hack knows exactly nothing about the trailer/ RV service industry. That was a very well executed repair.

    Sir , I was a roofer for lots of years when I was younger, and everything you said ,did and do to fix leaking roofs is 100% in the info you give and the videos showing how is you do it is perfect , I haven't been in the roofing world in some time , but now I sprung a leak around the kitchen vent and maybe a seem or two but not sure yet , but what is more important to me right now is ( I NEED SOME ADVISE FROM YOU IF POSSIBLE ? ) I've never seen or used the materials you used , so could you help out a man clear across the states, I'm 30 miles from the west Texas border , I'm in a small town with no real materials available so I'll have to drive to Amarillo Texas if available at the local hardware stores like home Depot , Lowes hardware store etc. So could you please send me any info your willing to share this is greatly appreciated , if you can't , with all due respect thank you for everything ....Mr Quintana

    Hey Roof Doc my detached garage is shingles and my house roof is Tar Gravel, if i ever get a leak on the tar roof im gonna clean an area 4x4 ft of gravel and dirt then vacuum it good, do you recommend i smear on slightly melted Henry roofing Tar or the Karnak Tar.

    • @FlatRoofDoctor
      @FlatRoofDoctor  2 роки тому

      I suggest you vacuum up and steel brush the surface to agitate the dirt up. Then use a propane torch to slightly melt the surface, then smear any tar to seal it. When you starting to have leaks on a Tar and Gravel roof, then you know the end is near for the roof. Anything from 30 years and above.

    Hello! I wish I knew someone in Ravenna, Ohio who could help fix/resealing my friend's roof there. Do you know anyone who could do it or how to fid someone? Unfortunately, she is on disability but we are trying to help her out. I was considering going there and resealing it myself, but I'm not an expert and honestly I'm afraid of going through the roof. No one wants to do small jobs like trailers - no money in it I guess?

    Hey doc greetings from belgium. I have a question i follow your accoung from a year ago and i notice that in america or in your videos people dont seem to care about how clean the seam are torched. here in europe we pretty much are used to 5mm bitum leak and no burn on the other rol. I know your job is still water tight but here we need to keep it clean!
    Search for soprema roofing to see refrences.

    • @FlatRoofDoctor
      @FlatRoofDoctor  2 роки тому

      You are correct. About 5mm bleed at max. I use the rolls with ceramic granules, and it appears that there is a burn on the other surface, but after a rain that is all cleared. It is just the black smoke from heating the seam that blows out onto the white granules.
      Anyway, I am self taught, so I don't follow rules. There were not many to learn from when I got started. I know you guys in Europe and Canada are much more picky about your jobs. I am very happy to see that. My son is like that too. everything must be perfect. Check out his videos All Roof USA. @allroofusa
      Thanks for watching and the comment. I don't think I am a good example of being neat and perfect. Far from that

    What does EPM stand for? I’m searching for this material

    • @KILLERGUNNZ
      @KILLERGUNNZ 7 місяців тому +1

      It’s EPDM. Firestone makes the roof materials and are the lead makers/providers of this roof material. Tbh, if you have the money and want these type of roofs, look into getting a TPO roof instead. Sorry it took so long for someone to respond to your comment and hope this helps.

  • @thurisazmjollnir7901
    @thurisazmjollnir7901 4 місяці тому

    You don’t need flashing/ drip edge with EPDM?

    • @Sum-Ting-Wong71
      @Sum-Ting-Wong71 4 місяці тому

      You can run the e.p.d.m. over the edge or into a gutter a few inches and then secure it with an aluminum termination bar which looks like this in side profile [ . It generally comes in 1"×10' lengths, is pre-punched w/holes every few inches to accept 1/4" screws or masonry fasteners depending on if your terminating over a flat perimeter edge or up onto a parapet or interior wall and whether you're securing into a wood or masonry substrate. It will at least one kick out (sometimes two) which are usually at a 45° angle and serve as caulk ledges for your sealant to rest on waterproofing the termination detail after it has been fastened.

    As flimsy as that roof was, I'll bet the wooden trusses underneath of it were completely rotten. Nothing you can do about that, you're just there to fix the leaks
