If somebody is really struggling with depression and therefore doesn't end up doing as much as they could've in their life, God isn't going to send them to hell for 'sloth'. He sees our lives as a whole. Edit: also now that I think about it, most likely 'sloth' back then didn't mean 'non-productivity' as we see it today (as in, not wanting to work stupidly long shifts at a job your hate or devote your entire life to studying etc), but more unwillingness to do God's work. So not bothering to help those in need. Also work culture back then would've been a lot different from nowadays. So sloth should probably be understood as actual laziness and unwillingness to do anything to help others and not genuine burnout or depression. Since let's face it, if 'work' means slaving away at a store for 60 hours a week, you can't be surprised when people don't want to work.
If you think about it people that are lazy are usually affected by low self esteem which also causes us to procrastinate because we think that we won’t be able to do it right and we think that we are going to fail which makes us sad and not want to do anything because we think we are failures

These 7 sins are called "deadly" because they delineate the mortal realm. If you are truly free from all of them, then the heavens have no reason to burden you with mortality. That is why people with a "calling" as it used to be called, devoted their entire lives to cultivate themselves, to free their hearts and minds of any thoughts of wrath, lust, gluttony, greed, envy, pride and sloth - a lifelong endeavor. To aim for the impossible is quite a feat, but then again, people are known for achieving the impossible. Which is why saints or holy figures in both East and West are depicted with an aureola surrounding them; they've attained a space and state of being where no human sin is able to touch them.
Thank you for this video. The seven deadly sins is a theme I have thought about a lot lately, without really searching for any background info. So this video did arrive to a kind of a need. The mind, body and spirit have seven different combinations. The saddest thing right now is our collective disconnection from the spirit. So, with our powerful minds and bodies, we do result most often to the most destructive sin, greed. The other sins derive from other kinds of disconnections within the trilogy. But this is just my very unprofessional View, and I wish to hear more outlooks.
A lot of people talk about the anime, there also this one from vocaloid, the Evillious Chronicles. It’s mostly in song form and it mainly centers around the Seven Deadly Sins. There’s a vocaloid representing each sin and also has its own song to tell a story. It’s been around for a while now. Edit: AkunoMothyP made the songs
I'm going into a rabbit hole on your channel. I grew up Christian and let go of it when I turned 20. Learning things from a non-religious perspective just makes SO MUCH SENSE to things. Of course it's all somehow political in my opinion, but the fact that I just heard there are OPPOSITES of the deadly sins, I was mind blown. 19 years of Christianity only had me focusing on the negative parts of religion to makes sure you "stay on the right path." And because of that, it created way too much anxiety within myself that I had to let that shit go. I'm way happier at 25 only worrying about myself and family in my home. No pressure from random beings watching me. But you're very fascinating. Gonna spend my whole night watching your videos😂
A video series on how different religions from there beginnings to present times and how they have contributed to our present time would be cool keep up the amazing work non the less.
It is impossible to not do at least one of the seven deadly sins because we are imperfect. We will do some of these sins but we can overcome them by growing as a person.
True. We may eventually exhibit all of these sins, but there's a level to how each individual does so. Sometimes it's a good thing as well. To be greedy, to be prideful, to be a glutton, and to be full of wrath. It seems like management and moderation is the best way to counter "overdosing".
I have been thinking of writing a fiction of the afterlife and haven’t read Dante’s Inferno. Some of the same things I was thinking of writing sounds like was in this story. It’s very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
may be an artefact of translation if sadness were read as "abandonment of hope" it would seem to get more mileage idk - too late for me to add a language and time travel is right out

Guy in desert: Im going to list down some negative things
my grandma centuries later: don't do that, you are going to hell
Yeah, basically
😂😂
i dont think the 7 deadly sins were listed on the bible, but they just got that from all the stories of the bible
Seeing this chane before it’s big is rly weird is really high quality and it’s still only a channel.
Any keep going your stuff is awesome and it can make 10 minute video fell like 3 minutes.
Glad to have someone explaining the Catholic Church theology in a much simple way. It is usually complicated however I can't say that as we have this great informative channel
Ohhh what a good way to start a year ! I love your Voice and videos !! Good luck with your Chanel i Hope you will be Famous
Greeting from 🇵🇱 Poland
Thanks to YT for recommending this kind of vids early than 10yrs from now
So glad I got recommended this channel! Keep up the great work. I’d love to see more in depth looks into apocrypha
The worst thing about the videos are that they endddd. Damnnn. So interesting and intriguing 💯. So informative. Keep up the good work
These 7 sins are called "deadly" because they delineate the mortal realm.
Just came upon this channel and love it already. Great job, keep em coming.
I love this channel sooo muuuuch!!

Your videos are so interesting my man, keep it up!
Your channel is definitely one of my favorites! Ive see every video you’ve uploaded so far and im hooked!!
I find Christian mythology absolutely fascinating. Thank you for producing this wonderful story.
@@Justaaveragesworduser-sh9tg Yes, MYTHOLOGY.
The sooner you accept that, the better your life will be.
Lets go i subed and forgot what it was then was like "y e s real life lore"
A lot of people talk about the anime, there also this one from vocaloid, the Evillious Chronicles. It’s mostly in song form and it mainly centers around the Seven Deadly Sins. There’s a vocaloid representing each sin and also has its own song to tell a story. It’s been around for a while now.
Edit: AkunoMothyP made the songs
wow, wasn't actually expecting a vocaloid comment here
but yeah, completely forgot about mothy's series
YOO AN EVILLIOUS FAN?!?!?!? i love evillious
If you’re passing by hard times you can always read Psalm 46 and 91. It always gives me strength to overcome everyday’a chalanges
I feel like we’re the chosen ones or the lucky few that found this channel. I love it.
The Cardinal Virtues are exactly what I look forward to as a Catholic Christian! :D God bless you man for this video! :D
These are such great quality videos. Keep up the great work :D
I seen the title and i assumed it would talk about the anime, I didnt get what i expected but in exchange i got something a whole lot better
I have so mamy freaking questions. This channel is so informative and addicting 😐 New sub ✌️
This channel has made me self reflect. Great content keep it up
Spinoza’s philosophy seems more and more understandable after every video of yours I watch.
"Thou shalt not kill" - check what this commandment was in the first version, before changes introduced by synods, interesting lecture :D
A video series on how different religions from there beginnings to present times and how they have contributed to our present time would be cool keep up the amazing work non the less.
You're finally back! Ive been dying to watch a new episode!
This is a great representation of the 7 Deadly Sins regardless of which religion one chooses to or not to follow! Greatly underrated channel!
Hell yes I’ve been waiting for something like this man!
It is impossible to not do at least one of the seven deadly sins because we are imperfect. We will do some of these sins but we can overcome them by growing as a person.
And then there's Lust.
Life is too hard and I get punished eternally for it if I fail
Yeah if not believing in God is unforgivable than I guess I am going to hell if it turns out Christianity is the true religion
True. We may eventually exhibit all of these sins, but there's a level to how each individual does so.
Sometimes it's a good thing as well. To be greedy, to be prideful, to be a glutton, and to be full of wrath.
It seems like management and moderation is the best way to counter "overdosing".
And that's why you repent and hope for the best!
"Do not eat winged creatures like bats..." Well too late for that isn't it?
almost 2 thousand years (o more) earlier actually
i really love the way you touch on biblical information. thank you for your education. thank you for your time to spread the word.
God bless you, I see that you really like studying about the Bible, and "things related to it," keep going!
I have been thinking of writing a fiction of the afterlife and haven’t read Dante’s Inferno. Some of the same things I was thinking of writing sounds like was in this story. It’s very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Ancient Egypt produced a text called "12 things to lose to become a pure soul". It sums up the seven deadly sins AND ten commandments 👁
Was all going fine until 03:33 then we brought forth Pestilence 😅
maybe god was giving health advice
"Lead us not into temptation"..now I understand it clearly..thanks.
Dude this channel is amazing. You’re going to blow up hard.
can't believe anyone would have thought sadness was an act of sinner
may be an artefact of translation
if sadness were read as "abandonment of hope"
it would seem to get more mileage
idk - too late for me to add a language and time travel is right out
i think it's a mistranslation, i think it was originally meant to be only nostalgia in particular.
It is not sadness that is considered a sin, but melancholy, which according to Thomas Aquinas, is the origin of sloth.
SAINT Thomas Aquinas
I just thought this was about the anime and i love that anime and yet i got something just amazing
A lot of adult film stars and adult films have the word "sin" incorporated in one way or another.
because there sinning and they know it and don't care
@@justanamericandoggo6725 tru
You did as good a job as the movie Se7en in explaining these sins. Remarkable!
Hey! I just wanna say this channel is amazing,it gave me interesting topics that I didn't know I needed, keep up the good work!😁
Can you do a video on the codex gigas?? That would be so dope! Remember me when you get to 200k!
very happy to have found this channel:)) the videos are so well made !all love
Bible: “Do not eat winged creatures such as bats.”
Everyone who has ever eaten any kind of bird meat: "Welp, I'm going to Hell!"
Shellfish and pork
@Hellbanisher Rockz Christians are allowed to eat whatever they please, just in reasonable amounts. Getting drunk or mukbanging is gluttony.
@@MrGreeann damn foo let him be, it don’t hurt nobody and yah I do and what.
Birds have flu just like pork, bats coronaviruses, shellfish has to be eaten fresh or it will poison ur gut, they kind of knew what they were talking about
Jesus: these animals are of god so eat them if you wanr
Appreciate the entire video. Very informative. Keep them coming!!!!
Amazing overview of themes in faith and religion. Most recommend.
I was born into a catholic family. I'm openly an atheist now, but I still love learning about these things. I see it as a fascinating institution and lore that humanity has built up, and as a sociology nerd, I love these videos!
“Dont eat winged animals like bats”
China: I’m just gonna act like I didn’t hear that
In fact, China strongly opposes religion 😂😂
As an Agnostic , i also believe these 7 psyche traits relate to ALL forms of personality ( not mental illnesses ) disorders ranging from mild anxiety to full blown psychopathy in varying degrees much like a recipe only with differing proportions
I'm so happy I found this channel. I'm binge watching all of your videos. Please do videos about both the old and the new testaments.
Gluttony
My search for everything Evillious Chronicles got me here! THIS IS SUPER GOOD!
Sloths always get the short end of the stick. First Ice Age and now this…
