As a Christian it must be noted that in Christian theology, Satan doesn’t really want to kill people, he wants to lure them into sin, which kills the soul.
"Satan" is just a placeholder for God's shortcomings to humans. God is supposedly omniscent all knowing all powerful, all loving and protects you but when you are on the wrong path "God" washes his hands of accountability - its accounted to Satan lol.
@@sillybilly1337 Referring to the Biblical God and narrative: Idea 1) God is all good, God created all things, like the nature of God all things he created are good. Idea 2) God created all things, that includes Satan. Satan along with other angels were initially good but then rebelled against God and turned to wickedness. Satan is not all good Based off of 1 & 2, I can then assume: Since God created Satan, God's creations are faulty and imperfect, and are not all good. Therefore God is also faulty and imperfect.
Something else to consider is, how big is "the world" the writers describe? Remembering that a map of the entire globe was not available at the time, their view of their "world" would be rather small. Thinking about Watership Down when the rabbits get to the down for the first time, they say they can see "the whole world" when certainly it's a relatively small part of England.
Likely It was "Just" Mesopotamia, i saw a pretty good theory once that connected the great flood to a real Life flooding of the city of Babylon and its surroundings, tho unfortunately i doubt i could find that theory rn so this Is purely anecdotal
Well things like the "global flood" were (if true) actually global, not just the world the writers knew. The facts of the Bible apply even if the writers didn't understand the full extent of them
"Global" at the time, meant the middle east and north africa, not southern europe, central asia or central europe, seriously even saying that is ridiculous. The people at the time did not even have accurate maps and directions to neighboring cities came from word of mouth. Noah's flood which was mentioned in the bible was taken from Mesopotamian folklore, you can see this in the epic of gilgamesh which consists of sumerian tales and legends. The biblical flood was likely real and modern historians suggest it could be linked to a flood around Mesopotamia at around 5,000 bc.

@@chucklebutt4470 I’m not religious in the traditional sense but it is possible to be religious and have perfectly rational reasons to be so. Science and religion don’t have to compete, there was a time when the two went hand in hand. The Big Bang theory was literally theorized by a catholic priest. That’s not to say all religious people are rational, I’m just saying it’s possible to be so.
@Jojostie Nah, it's your life. This story really sums up my thoughts about religion and how it can cause harm to some people... "So there's a woman who loves purple. Like, fucking loves it. Purple doors. Purple curtains. Purple panties. Purple soaps. Purple everything. She drives a purple car and even asked her boss permission to paint her office purple. Her least favorite movie is The Purple People Eater, because it gives the color a bad name. One day a guy stops by her large purple house (it's hard to miss) and knocks on the purple door. "Hi, do you have a spare room?" "As a matter of fact I do," says the woman in a purple dress. She leads him through the purple door, into the purple hallway, and past another purple door. And another purple door. She finally stops by the purple door at the end of the purple hallway. "Here you are." The guy goes through the purple door, into the purple room, and unpacks his suitcase into a purple dresser. At the end of the night, he lays down in the purple bed and rests his head on the purple pillow. The next day, he hears the woman screaming. "Breakfast!" He gets out of the purple bed, gets his clothes from the purple dresser, and goes out the purple door into the purple hallway. He finds his way to the kitchen and sits down at the purple table. The woman opens the purple cupboard and pulls out two boxes of cereal: Wheaties and Cheerios. She sets them on the purple table. "What would you like?" The man considers for a moment before finally responding: "Cheerios." The woman smiles. "So it's true: 2 out of 3 do prefer Cheerios over Wheaties."
This is a hard subject for a lot of people to grapple with, esp ones currently going through faith questioning and even deconstruction..thank you so much for this video. You've really helped me see my childhood faith in a completely new light.
Im not religious but I get it. Where I dont agree with most religion is it teaches to see everything in divinity instead of divinity in everything. So that when we see evidence of the nature of god in our surroundings, if it doesnt quite line up with what ones religion dictates as true, one can tend to have an existential crisis. I say if it helps you be a good person and helps bring a sense of order and security in a chaotic world, believe what you want as long as its not predatory.
It’s not hard. He wanted the 12 tribes to wipe the evil Canaanites from the map. Judah and Dan got tired and let the last village live. The Canaanites seed is now alone and ruling the world

Additional fun fact: despite what many modern Christians want to believe, Jesus was an Apocalyptic Jew and believed the entire Old Testament. It was the basis for all he supposedly did, and he specifically references it plenty, insisting that he did NOT come to replace the old law, but to fulfill it. To say you are Christian without believing in the Old Testament is like saying you accept the Lord of the Rings trilogy but not The Hobbit as canon.
@@rexo14569 Not only is that wrong, as Jesus references some of those old rules and claims that he does not mean to replace the old covenant- but you’ve ignored the belief part. The Old Testament details the story of Eden, Noah’s Flood, Exodus, and all that- which Jesus believed in. Most modern Christians know full well that these stories are inviable nonsense, but ignore that their prophet believed them in the most literal way.

Could you maybe do a video about which people Satan killed in the bible? Could be a pretty interesting video regarding to how and why Satan decided to kill and which he did on his own intuition and which was on gods behalf.
Pretty much all of his kills are indirect, decieving a weak-minded human into committing murder. If you count that, it goes into the billions and counting.
Seeing as you are not a religious person I greatly admire your respect and restraint at passing judgement on the Christian world view, it would be easy to do so hearing statistics like these. As a protestant and a Christian that views aspects of the bible more metaphorically than literally, I have my own views on this Theological 'issue' if anyone outside of the faith is interested. In regards to the example you gave of the bears, I would personally (though I know others perhaps wouldn't) attribute that to a bear attack that has been interpreted as divine intervention. I think that's fair to say but I know some more orthodox people might take issue with this as it shows the bible has some inaccuracies that can be accredited to humans. But let's get to the meat of the matter! Why is there such a difference between the new testament god and the old testament god? You touched on this point slightly but I thought I'd throw a key Theological point in the ring. The new testament is about the new covenant between man and god, e.g. the new relationship that was created. Jesus's purpose (in the eyes of Christians) was to reconcile the relationship between God and man, which had been destroyed after the original sin (Adam and eve). In the old testament the many rules that exist and strictly adhered to were meant to be the Jews way of apologising to God for their inherent sinfulness (simplified). The new covenant (created by Jesus's life, death and resurrection) is meant to repair this damaged relationship so that we mere mortals can ask for God's forgiveness and recieve it as long as we believe in him and the trinity. That's why God no longer needs to punish or judge anyone until the 2nd coming, because the new covenant exists and mans 'debt' so to speak is paid. I hope this makes sense to people and demonstrates the nuance of the Christian faith moving from the old testament to the new. Whether you disagree or not I write this comment to inform, not to convert, not to judge, and certainly not to recieve hate. You and I are all entitled to our beliefs. Peace and love. Hope this was interesting to all.
Well written! I'm not strictly religious myself, but I was raised strictly religious and feel like you hit a point that I feel was stressed on me very much in school and church as a kid. I also appreciate the total lack of actual preachiness in your comment, as I have had continuous bad experiences of that sort my whole life lol
Good explanation. More people should see this because people judge Christianity on the basis that God is a ruthless killer when it’s more deep than that really.
Please read my comment The angels who disobeyed God and sinned came down from heaven to earth and slept with the women of men. From them were born the Nephilim, some giant men (archaeologists discovered their bones), giant men who were half-man, half-animal or half-man, half-angel. The Greeks did not invent this, they were part of the legends that were told before and told what was happening in the time of Noah. Do I need to tell you that the Nephilim killed people? That's why God killed them, in Genesis 6 verse 5 with 8 the Lord says: "The Lord saw that man's wickedness was great on the earth and that all the thoughts of his heart were directed every day only to evil. It seemed to the Lord that he made man on the earth and was grieved in His heart. And the Lord said: 'I will wipe from the face of the earth the man that I have made, from man to cattle, to birds of the air, for I am sorry for what I have done to them'. But Noah found mercy before the Lord" God killed the Nephilim and the people corrupted by wickedness to keep the peace of the people pure, and he saved Noah because he was a man who obeyed God. God had already planned to save humanity since Noah, so that Jesus Christ would be born from a lineage with uncorrupted blood. That he would then come into this world dying for our sins and giving us his righteousness. On the cross a transfer was made, Jesus took upon Himself all the sins of mankind, and He transferred His righteousness to us. In Paul's epistle to the Romans chapter 3 verses 21-24: "But now a righteousness has been shown that God gives, without the law, about which the Law and the Prophets testify, namely the righteousness given by God, which comes through faith in Jesus Christ, for all who believe in him. There is no difference. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. And they are justified without payment, through the redemption that comes through Christ Jesus." to be righteous means to be blameless, to be without blemish. By reading the Bible we discover the true history of mankind and what is our purpose on earth, we find out what is after death and what we will do after it. In John chapter 3 verse 17-18 it says: "God, in truth, did not send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not judged, but whoever does not believe in was judged, because he did not believe in the Name of the only Son of God"
To be fair, in Elijah's story, they never said they were young boys. Not to mention, there were 42 of them apparently. It's theorized they were planning more than just jeering.

I questioned my friends on why murder was alright depending on the perpetrator. I’m especially annoyed by the death of the first born Egyptian sons which wouldn’t have been necessary at all if God didn’t purposely harden the Pharaoh’s heart. I like to preface this question by asking if they thought king Herod was indeed evil. They always reply yes, because he killed innocent people. Then I hit them with the God question and suddenly it’s not the same. It makes me wonder about people’s morals. Are they only concerned about the death of innocent people because it was carried out by someone they aren’t supposed to like? Why is it okay for God to gamble with the devil over Job’s devotion? Are we simply trivial playthings to this God for exalting himself? And I never really get answers to these questions. Not from Christians at least.
That is because God is the giver of all life, so he can take away anybody's life at anytime and he is still righteous. He does not allow others to take away other's lives because their lives do not belong to them, they belong to God. and in the old testament, alot of pagan nations including the Egyptians were nephilim blood, so God had wanted to eradicate them from surfacing on land as a population, this is why he arranged Exodus (kill the Egyptian armies in the red sea, because nephilims only die by drowning/decapitation of head), then he arranged killing the giant nephilims in Canaan when the Israelites took over the land, Pharaoh was allowed to be raised as ruler and have his heart hardened because he was a dishonorable vessel(doomed to perish from birth), the rest are all significance of salvation of the gospel, such that wrath fell upon those that do not have the lamb's blood aka the Egyptian, the hebrews believe in God so they put the lamb's blood on their door, if they didn't they too would have their first born killed. it simply means all are sinners without the blood of Jesus aka deserving of wrath. Also the amount of years of slavery in Egyptian and the sins of Canaanites are calculated and accumulated to bring about that level of wrath on them, that's around 400 years, it is a long time before they are destroyed. it is always about eradicating the nephilims and human permitting deaths through bad decision making and sins. Sin always leads to death, once disorder is created on the land, it has to be paid with wrath or a sacrifice, so the old testament times were actually showing how sin is evil and its appropriate punishment. Now after Jesus is resurrected, the physical death penalties are no longer needed because Jesus has fulfilled the law(he never sinned), so in essence people do not have to be killed physically for sin now, for it is about spiritual death now, thus the change in a wrathful image of God to a merciful one, but it is because Jesus face the wrath in person already, so he can give himself to people legally in mercy as he is the perfect sacrifice
The Bible never put us on equal footing with God. We're told to fear and love God, precisely because of his power over life and death. You're implying that a person, full of sin, biases and blemishes, can be judged to the same extent as the creator of all things. You're also applying your conception of death to God, when someone dies, to us, it's a heartbreaking thing because to us, their existence just ended. To God, killing someone is basically just moving him from one plane of existence to another, which he has full control over, why should he feel guilty or uncertain?
@@ne0nmancer 1. Fear and love are mutually exclusive. 2. We can absolutely hold God to the same standards as mortals. In fact, we should hold God to a higher standard. 3. God knows that killing people brings pain and sadness to the family and friends of the person he killed. Therefore he knows that he is causing suffering to fulfill his will. Which means he's evil.
@@dolebiscuit 1. They are mutually exclusive in the same context, not towards the same person. You can fear your father when he's mad at you because you did something bad, doesn't mean you don't love him or that he doesn't love you in the normal context of your relationship. 2. Why? Mortals have ever shifting moral standards (even those who claim to follow God's Word), we tend to ignore our sins while admonishing the same sins on others, Jesus warns us of this many times in the NT, many did, do and will continue to preach scripture while not really understanding the point, or really making an honest effort to follow it, we can't hold someone accountable to standards we don't follow. 3. Death, pain and sadness of course are bad, but Paradise isn't on Earth anymore, we brought sin onto ourselves because we chose to, wanted to know good and evil, like God, but we don't have his foresight, we can never really trust our judgment of those things, we are flawed and we will keep missing the mark and suffer for it, God is as responsible for this as is a parent that tells their child that their hand will burn when they touch a hot stove, but they do it anyway.
The passage about Elisha is misunderstood tho, to begin with Elisha was not old he was still young and able to defend himself and "boys" here is a mistranslation, the original hebrew in this occurrance should translate as young men, lads, on top of that the palestinian bear is quite small and the passage doesn't really tell us that the bears killed the lads, we just assume it cause we usually think of the large european and american bear, but it's more plausible that the bears in this case being small and having to do with 42 opponents only harassed them and scared them away, it's probably supposed to be somewhat comical in tone showing the enemies of a prophet threatening him with violence but ending up being scared away by the power of god.
why god allow king James translation to be wrong though? Especially this one story, where it seems that the god allowed those kids to be killed for no equivalent reason... whoa, I just remembered... He also allows this version of the bible to be the most popular one.
Great video! 👍 It is a heavy topic, but you handled it well, explained the information clearly, and looked at the accounts within their historical context. Empathy for the hard circumstances of humanity's ancestors is a rare virtue. Wishing you the best!
When one looks at old-testament God, and then looks at the classical Greek Pantheon, you can see how similar they are in temperament. They are not ‘All-loving’ gods which ‘Cherish’ Humankind, they are the masters, and something to be feared. They depict a deity in its truest sense, an explanation for the world and all its evils, and it only makes sense that the Lord is to be feared.
the lord is not to be feared revelation 1:17 "When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid. I am the First and the Last,"
I have 2 points. 1. . The term "Murder/Murderer" is only applicable to created beings. If I kill a fellow human being here on earth, I am a murderer. God is the creator of all humans. So He has complete rights to do what he wants to do with his creation. Period. And when God chooses to end someone's life on earth, he is not killing them. He is the one who decides how long a person should live. He is merely changing their location from earth to where he is. 2. To a non-christian like you, death may seem like the worst thing that could possibly happen to a human. We Christians know that that is not the case. Eternal life in hell because of our own sins is the ultimate worst thing that could happen to us. Who causes us to sin? The devil. Who gave us a gift of forgiveness? God. Why do many humans choose to reject that gift? Because they listen to the devil. So, saying that the devil has physically killed lesser people in the bible, than the number of people whose lives on earth ended because God decided, is a non-sequitur. The devil because of his evil manipulations has sent zillions of people to hell (which is 100 times worse than death). Meanwhile, God died on the cross to pay our punishment so that we could be free from sin and live with him in heaven (even though we did not deserve it.) And apparently God is the villain. ABSURD. Hope this made sense to you. Feel free to ask me any questions.
Not religious, but my favorite interpretation of why old testament god was a monster in comparison to the new testament is because he, as a divine being, could not fathom what it meant - what it felt - to exist as human. So incarnating into Jesus on earth, he learned that his own rules were unfair and he set humanity up to fail. Jesus's sacrifice in allowing sin to be forgiven was God's apology; making amends for the past.
in comparison to the way the world is now, with a population well over 300x times larger then the time of the flood, its save to say it was "minor" by a certain standard.@@isukatgemz2166
3:23 About the boys making fun of Elisha, there’s something important to take into account. Actually a couple of them. 1. Elisha wasn’t being mocked by little children, but by young men of unknown age. Even if we don’t know how old they were, they weren’t kids but young men. 2. The number of these young men is quite important. The number that were mauled by the bears was 42. Not 2 or 3 but 42. The verses also imply that the rest of the young men ran away. 3. The young men were threatening Elisha and telling him to ascend to his master Elijah. Basically, they were mocking him and telling him “hey bald guy, we’re gonna kill you and you’ll see your master!”
They never said they were gonna kill him and neither threatened him, that's an extremely forced interpretation to pretend like god is moral in today's concept of morality. Second, unknown age young man still might means they might be kids in today's conception of what is a kid (Mary for example was very likely a 14yo when she married Joseph and got magically pregnant, not a kid by the time, definitely a kid that's not supposed to be pregnant in today's measurement of age)
@@luismorel604 what do you mean by today’s concept of morality? Where do we get morality? God is more moral than any human could ever dream to be. He is just, He is merciful, He is love. He gave us free will because He loves us, but He can’t ignore our evil actions. In Romans it says that the wages of sin is death. Death is the price for our sins. The good thing is that God doesn’t want us to die because of our sins but instead wants us to live. That’s why He made a covenant with the Israelites and later on sent His son Jesus Christ as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. However, He won’t force anyone to believe in Him. It comes back to the freedom of choice I mentioned He made us with. We can choose to rebel, to look for explanations to moral, physical, and social issues elsewhere or we can seek Him. Regardless of how far you get into this comment that I’ve made in response to your comment, I hope you have a blessed day and that you are safe and sound wherever you may be. God is still called Judge in the new testament, and executor. He killed Herod and Ananias and Sapphira in Acts in the new testament. God is unchanging, all-knowing. There's no learning for him since he knows the end from the beginning. That means whatever he is, he's always been. And whatever he was, he still is. God in the Old testament is still revealed as love who never takes pleasure in the death of the wicked (his own words) yet strong and power enough to execute swift judgement. He spared Nineveh and turned from the evil he planned to do to them when they repented. He was grieved at his heart before the flood because of mankind. And throughout the old testament he works toward setting up the cross where he himself would be crucified in the Son. He doesn't usually offer an explanation for the deaths in the bible and he doesn't have to. Life is his, we were given it from God. Death is God taking back what it is his.
@@CallMePseudonymous Well who are you to define what is good or evil? Are you high enough in authority to determine that? Is anyone on earth? @@CallMePseudonymous I suppose any thing in authority uses an element of fear to bring obedience. In government we usually fear prosecution if we break the law. Children usually would fear punishment from their parents if they disobey. One would fear being fire by his boss if he was a slacker and broke company policy. Consequences of choice are in every element of authority. If fear is the only thing keeping you in line though, that is abuse of power. I don't find the God of the bible that way. Many people in the world continue on seemingly without consequences of their choices. I would say God is very patient and restraint when it comes to anger and power. God didn't even kill the first murderer Cain, but warned him before sinned to turn back. God didn't kill anyone till the flood, and used Noah to preach 120 years to the people while the ark was preparing until the flood came. The Canaanites were exterminated, but the exception Rahab a harlot who decided to put her trust in God and help Israel. There's a lot of jokes surrounding the 'do not be afraid' message that Angels often carry, especially in the new testament, where the Angels take on a much more human form. But there's one crucial fact that often goes overlooked when talking about Angels. Angels aren't benevolent, _they're weapons of war._ They are the messengers of God, the instrument that operates to his orders. He, a being that is described as omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, chooses to not only not engage with us directly, but send more of his creations to interact with his kind. Angels throughout history, were described as being seen only as tools of intervention at the best of times, and impending annihilation at worst. They are the blaring sirens warning of an incoming bomber squadron, the screaming alarms foretelling the very forces of nature have turned against us, and are on their way. But Angels are different than just mere warning systems. Because warning systems don't originate from the flood, nor from the hurricane nor bombing raid. No, Angels are merely a "heads up". A "judgement will be upon you soon, repent". They are the carriers of terror tactics hither to unseen in our world bar the worst distillations of societal control. It is every time that i hear about or read the brutal reality of this being, of God, i am reminded of this. That God is often described as a benevolent and just god, one that weighs your actions, against a pre-established norm, and either rewards or punishes you for them. But beyond the veil of kindness and compassion, lies the same nigh-omnipotent being that sends his generals out before the main force, not with a compromise, not with an ultimatum or any semblance of choice, but with a simple 'This is what is about to happen to you. As someone who is religious, I love your video, and it does give great insight to biblical historical context. With that said 2 things, the laws you brought up, of the 613 laws, you could have said at least one very odd rule. And then I’m not wondering what we’re the 4 deaths in the New Testament. You are making me have to do my own research thank you.
When analysing text it helps to know as much as you can about the context. Who is/are the author/s? What was their purpose in writing it down? What information did they have access to? What genre/style is it? What do we know about the culture/s they came from? How did they change over time? What differing views did people hold about the subject? Has it been censored/edited? What is lost in translation? What cultural biases are colouring our own interpretation of the text? To me, asking these questions of the Hebrew bible results in more engaging, enlightening, and fascinating answers than any face value reading of the text. Was the flood ever meant to be taken literally?
I really think that most of the stories in the bible are just meant to be symbolic and weren't really meant to be taken literally. But people took it too seriously and now you have Christians that refuse to believe in dinosaurs or evolution, even though these are well documented phenomenon that can be backed up by empirical evidence. Science is not a conspiracy theory, it's just a way of documenting reality as objectively as we humanely can. Here's my perspective as an atheist: you can still believe in god if you want, but it doesn't mean that you need to ignore science. There are still a lot of ways that these two entities can co-exist. For example, the universe is amazingly fine-tuned. If some physical constants were just a little bit different, life as we know it probably wouldn't be able to exist. One way to explain this, if you'd like, is that the universe was intelligently designed. Maybe god didn't create us directly, but he wrote the physical laws that would eventually lead to our creation. Another idea: we still don't know where life came from. It seems kind of weird that a bunch of inanimate matter just fused together in the right way to create a cell. Perhaps the earth was "seeded" intentionally. Of course, to accept any of these ideas, Christians would need to accept that the bible isn't perfect and that it isn't meant to be taken literally, which seems unlikely. But this would be a great way to reconcile religion with science, if that's what you want. Science is such an important thing in our daily lives, it just seems silly that so many people are against it.
To be fair, it would be hard not to do a couple of purges if you're omniscient/omnipresent/omnipotent and get to see ALL of the degeneracy of people all at once. It's bad enough occasionally seeing glimpses of it from twitter and tumblr
This is the actual rational way of seeing this. People can argue all day about what they perceive to be wrong or immoral for "God" to do, relying on their own interpretations, which can't be right because it is rooted in human behavior. A literal God does what it does because it can foresee every timeline or event at the same time, knowing something is for a greater good: there's no one more perfect to take a seemingly impossible choice for us. So, any arguments are made mostly of perceived self-importance, not an objective Godly goal.
@@abloogywoogywooTbf, in most biblical stories, the God of the Bible at least tries to warn people or tell them not to do it. Though this isn’t always the case. (I’m a recent deconvert btw, and I myself find God’s punishments to be overkill most of the time.)
@@abloogywoogywoo Fair enough, I was just pointing out that there are a decent amount of instances where the God of the Bible does warn people. But even then the punishments were, most of the time, unnecessarily cruel for no real reason, especially when it came to pharaoh. Obviously the point of the first born was to be somewhat of divine ironic justice. The pharaoh killed the first born males of the Israelites, so God’s ultimate punishment was the kill the Egyptians first borns. For the pharaoh, I guess I can kinda see it, even if it is definitely cruel on some level, he was at least warn 6-7 times before that. However, where I’m completely lost on it, is that every Egyptian’s first born was killed, which I find totally unfair. They didn’t get a say of how the pharaoh treated the Israelites, from what I know of Egyptian society (which is very little), it was practically a monarchy, meaning the people had very little say over how the area was ruled, ie the pharaoh. While many Israelites kids died, according to the biblical story, there’s nothing in the Bible that says every Egyptian supported this, or even liked it. Even than tho, I find that killing the first born breaks the whole “the son is not responsible for the farther’s sins.” I don’t see how it’s justice to kill someone else.
Nah, I personally think it was when a tribal elder didn't know how to answer a question but still wanted to appear "wise", so he just bullshitted something. Frankly, that type of non-malicious lie is worse than what you described, given that people would just swallow it up out of "respect".
@@DarkAdonisVyers you didn't make any sense. We weren't talking about where it came from. Im not in the mood to fight with strangers on the internet right now. Get a life
Thank you for putting this into perspective… lately I’ve been trying to understand why an all loving God would kill so much. Seems extremely counterintuitive to the 10 commandments
Also think about how God saves and came down HIMSELF to earth to die and suffer horribly for me and you. And all we do is throw hate and malice at him. Think about how much death and destruction SATAN has caused. Repent and turn to Jesus Christ and believe in him to be saved. God loves you with a love you don’t understand. @@Kmf_Jahh Trust me I’m still desperately trying to find solace let alone any semblance of ‘love’ in that doctrine. That was really impressive! I mean, you made this and said you are not religious, and that’s super cool! Amazing work! I also heard somewhere that God was king of Israel, but the israelites wanted a physical king, something that God did not want to, but granted them. And it also makes sense to why the old testament is so brutal! The 2nd book of kings is just crazy! So much death in that book, almost can’t believe it’s in the bible!
@@selectionn To say that God has "every kill count" makes sense only if you believe in a form of predestination by God - but in most denominations of Christianity lack such a belief (otherwise morality could hardly make any sense). Plus "every human is fated by God to die" also makes zero sense, semantically speaking, because believers will be ressurected, making "death" temporary. So this other sentence I quoted is also miskeading.
@@szilveszterforgo8776 okay, but if we're talking strictly earthly deaths here and ignoring the afterlife, God still made humanity so that we age and die. Even if you take Genesis absolutely literally and say "Adam and Eve were immortal until they committed original sin", God still punished them, and by extension all of humanity, by making them mortal. So you could argue that technically he does have every kill count, without ever bringing predestination into it
@@szilveszterforgo8776 By making humans mortal god has effectively made sure that they will die. I'm almost certain that is what this commenter meant by "Every human is fated to die." - Literal fate has nothing to do with it. Along with this, believing in resurrection shouldn't change someone's view on whether god has "technically" killed everyone who's died. If someone undoes the effects of an action they took then that doesn't mean that the action never took place. Edit: Didn't see oranges' comment till now as the comment section wasn't up to date when i was writing the comment.

Mind you, the idea of the same God being able to kill so many while still being loving makes sense, he’s a God of justice as well. Like said in the video, with everyone breaking the rules, God upheld the justice out of love for his people. Overall a great video!
I think personally that he initially had us scared senseless probably on the basis that humans might tow the line, but he realised this peculiar creature - humankind didn’t/wouldn’t ‘tick’ that way, so he moved the goalposts, he got his only Son to give us very few laws, and then one of his wonderful creations KILLED him, but, nevertheless a way that is as nearly impossible to follow was given to us all: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul, AND YOUR NEIGHBOUR as yourself”. The Lord altered the world’s ‘constitution, (slightly,) but don’t discard all of the 10 Commandments, just tweak them and little and then get two individuals to tell everyone what the fix now is and has been ever since. And just to make absolutely clear I love and respect my God and his most Holy Son the Lord Jesus Christ. Happy Christ-mas and a Blessed New Year, and peace to overcome man’s pettiness with how cruel can they possibly be to their own peoples. ross
The problem is assuming that the judeo-christian belief or theology revolve around primarily on morality. It's not about primarily morality. The old testament is filled with knowledge for a kingdom and its citizen on how to behave, act or engage to become a distinct, powerful, righteous nation by developing given "God's character". That "God character" comes from mysteries metaphysical knowledge about reality and consciousness. God can be perceived harsh because reality can be harsh and unforgiving if you don't act in a proper way. Sometimes God do thing that seem unjust because reality can seem unjust. That old testament knowledge is converted in the New testament as more spiritual as the kindgdom is not physical but spiritual but the knowledge still applies under different realm.
I find it strange to compare God to reality in that they are both "harsh", "unjust", and "unforgiving" when God has agency and "reality" does not. Reality can seem that way, but when God is in control of his own actions, it would seem that he actually IS that way
@@brixan... "God" is not really reality. Every Time you describe the concept of "God", you have to compromise as one description does not reflect the fullness of "God". There is an element of agency as well within the concept of God but also a concept of an ideal.
I'm still listening but I wanted to write this down before I forgot. I almost see adolescent stages to God, almost like he's a child learning as he goes. Now I'm not the most enlightened and/or educated on the subject but these are just ignorant thoughts and observations I have. But I'm nowhere near qualified to give authentic input on this behalf. He made light and saw it was good. Wouldn't his omnipotence have known it was good before doing so? He had to do it to find out. He many a times throws a temper tantrum and wraths on his people, only to right after, apologize and say he won't do it again. To me, that's a child learning. It's like how parents can tell their children lessons all they want but until the child experiences it for themselves, they don't truly learn.
As a religious person, I found this very informative and well-researched. I thought your analysis of the Old Testament God vs the New Testament God to be especially well thought-out. Thank you.

Referring to the Biblical God and narrative:
Idea 1) God is all good, God created all things, like the nature of God all things he created are good.
Idea 2) God created all things, that includes Satan. Satan along with other angels were initially good but then rebelled against God and turned to wickedness. Satan is not all good
Based off of 1 & 2, I can then assume: Since God created Satan, God's creations are faulty and imperfect, and are not all good.
Middle East, Saudi Arabia, Northen Africa and Southern Europe (maybe some Central Asia and Central Europe too)
Likely It was "Just" Mesopotamia, i saw a pretty good theory once that connected the great flood to a real Life flooding of the city of Babylon and its surroundings, tho unfortunately i doubt i could find that theory rn so this Is purely anecdotal

*-Being religious in 2022-* 🦧 (sorry!)
@@chucklebutt4470 I’m not religious in the traditional sense but it is possible to be religious and have perfectly rational reasons to be so. That’s not to say all religious people are rational, I’m just saying it’s possible to be so.

"Hi, do you have a spare room?"
"As a matter of fact I do," says the woman in a purple dress. She leads him through the purple door, into the purple hallway, and past another purple door. And another purple door. She finally stops by the purple door at the end of the purple hallway.
"Here you are."
The guy goes through the purple door, into the purple room, and unpacks his suitcase into a purple dresser. At the end of the night, he lays down in the purple bed and rests his head on the purple pillow.
The next day, he hears the woman screaming.
"Breakfast!"
He gets out of the purple bed, gets his clothes from the purple dresser, and goes out the purple door into the purple hallway. He finds his way to the kitchen and sits down at the purple table.
The woman opens the purple cupboard and pulls out two boxes of cereal: Wheaties and Cheerios. She sets them on the purple table.

👹
would love that video.
his crimes against humanity are innumerable
He only killed about 10 people and remember God gave satan hell, the place people are tortured so you could still credit those punished to God
Who does Satan murder? I think Chronicles/Kings and Job shows us that any deaths Satan may cause are indirectly cosigned by God

The angels who disobeyed God and sinned came down from heaven to earth and slept with the women of men.

This is an amazing analysis because it's not bias. Not an aethiest view or religious one, simply just an analysis.
Because Christians don't like being confronted by how evil their God actually is. Cognitive dissonance is powerful.

The king James translation needs to stop being used

The lord has mercy and thats why Christ died
the lord is not to be feared
revelation 1:17
"When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man.
Meanwhile, God died on the cross to pay our punishment so that we could be free from sin and live with him in heaven (even though we did not deserve it.)
And apparently God is the villain.

About the boys making fun of Elisha, there’s something important to take into account.
Remember that Jesus loves you (yeah it probably sounds corny but it’s the truth) and that He wants what’s best for you.
@@luismorel604 I did some research and it states that the young men may have been mocking Elisha due to being a prophet of the Lord. That’s why they told him to go up, they were mocking him and telling him to ascend to heaven like his master Elijah did. Just a little more info I found that was relevant to the discussion at hand. I apologize that I didn’t include it with the previous comment. God bless you.

When you are all powerful and demand people to call you perfect it should be
God is still called Judge in the new testament, and executor.
You can view the severity of God's wrath which is more terrifying than man's wrath, but you can also view the intensity of his compassion and mercy and love, in both old and new testaments.

There's a lot of jokes surrounding the 'do not be afraid' message that Angels often carry, especially in the new testament, where the Angels take on a much more human form.
But there's one crucial fact that often goes overlooked when talking about Angels.
Angels aren't benevolent, _they're weapons of war._
They are the messengers of God, the instrument that operates to his orders.
Don't bother preparing, it won't help'.
And were i to pour those characteristics into a much more Human shaped mould, i can't help but fear that their figure would resemble one whose name was feared in their own time in history.
It is said that God created man in his own image.
And looking at Humanity, and the darkest reaches of unmorality our kind is often more than willing to tread, i sadly cannot help but to agree.

I simply do not understand violence, nor have I ever found a way to do mental gymnastics to justify it. I’d appreciate it if you took the time to explain these following verses for me:
Numbers 15: 32-36
Deuteronomy 3:6
Numbers 31: 15-18
Deuteronomy 2: 33-34
Judges 21: 10
1 Samuel 15:2-3
Thanks in advance.
God is the creator. He has the right it take and give life however he chooses. We must not lean on our own understanding as humans are inherently foolish and everchanging

Dear Hochelaga, thank you for always making interesting videos. I am a christian and I find them very interesting because they give me a new perspective on my faith.
I was curious where you find the art that you use in your videos?
You inspire me to want to make well informed and quality content, love ya hoch
Love your videos Alex, so glad I've found more of your content 😁
Love your voice and accent. You and Epic History TV have the best voices for this type of stuff.
"I put you into this world and ILL TAKE YOU OUT OF IT"
Just like my father
That was really impressive! I mean, you made this and said you are not religious, and that’s super cool! Amazing work!
I also heard somewhere that God was king of Israel, but the israelites wanted a physical king, something that God did not want to, but granted them. And it also makes sense to why the old testament is so brutal!
The 2nd book of kings is just crazy! So much death in that book, almost can’t believe it’s in the bible!
THIS is the content i subbed for
you counted yourself?? massive props
You could technically say that God has every kill count, since every human is fated by God to die. 😂😂😂😂
Deism and disbelief in ressurection makes you say this (not religiously but logically saying)
@@szilveszterforgo8776 wtf are you on about lmao
Psalms 94:1-6

That’s absurd. Justice is legalized revenge. It doesn’t stop crimes. Nothing can.

Mind you, the idea of the same God being able to kill so many while still being loving makes sense, he’s a God of justice as well. Like said in the video, with everyone breaking the rules, God upheld the justice out of love for his people. Overall a great video!
“I’m about to do what I like to call a gamer move Samael” - The Big G
Yes g samael is the devil
I think personally that he initially had us scared senseless probably on the basis that humans might tow the line,
but he realised this peculiar creature - humankind didn’t/wouldn’t ‘tick’ that way, so he moved the goalposts, he
got his only Son to give us very few laws, and then one of his wonderful creations KILLED him, but, nevertheless
a way that is as nearly impossible to follow was given to us all: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and
soul, AND YOUR NEIGHBOUR as yourself”.
The Lord altered the world’s ‘constitution, (slightly,) but don’t discard all of the 10 Commandments, just tweak them
and little and then get two individuals to tell everyone what the fix now is and has been ever since.
And just to make absolutely clear I love and respect my God and his most Holy Son the Lord Jesus Christ.
Happy Christ-mas and a Blessed New Year, and peace to overcome man’s pettiness with how cruel can
they possibly be to their own peoples.

That's called cherry picking my dude
@@thecryingsoul what did he cherry pick?
I find it strange to compare God to reality in that they are both "harsh", "unjust", and "unforgiving" when God has agency and "reality" does not. Reality can seem that way, but when God is in control of his own actions, it would seem that he actually IS that way
@@brixan... "God" is not really reality. Every Time you describe the concept of "God", you have to compromise as one description does not reflect the fullness of "God".
There is an element of agency as well within the concept of God but also a concept of an ideal.
That's not really a response... You seem to just be absolving God of responsibility for the harshness, unjustness, and unforgivingness
I wonder if we counted any self destructive behavior due to sin and temptation as “due to satan” how high satan’s kill count would be
Probably less.
Satan is merely his puppet.
