Great place to get parts from, I buy my water pump and stuff from them every couple of years, quality name parts, good prices, UPS ships pretty quick. They can pull up quickly what you bought previously to assure you get the right stuff again.
Thanks much for making this video. It really made the job a lot easier. One thing that would have saved a few seconds would be if you'd mentioned that the wear plate has to go on a certain way. At first blush it looked symmetrical but when the holes didn't quite line up it was time to remove it and flip it over. Also, the shift boot doesn't come with a zip tie to seal it (a minor detail but one that stuck in my craw. It's of those things that tells you what kind of company you're dealing with, esp given that the parts are anything but reasonably priced. I swear it will keep me from ever buying a Mercury product again). Also, it sounds like the 60 inch pound torque spec on the bolts you mention is pretty crucial in that it allows things to float and move a bit and prevent wear on the drive shaft.

I have a 2 year old 40 that sand had clogged the thermostat. Do you think I need to go ahead and maintenance the pump after sand? It's still peeing like a horse but took it back out yesterday run fine for a moment them the beeps hit again. So either I missed some sand or something else is wrong. Checking the thermostat again today but the first time got like a 1/2 cup sand out.
I would like to learn how to replace a Fuel Pump in a 2006 25/30 HP EFI 4 Stroke Outboard motor. Motor starts and then stops. Never keep running for more than couple seconds. Don't know what exactly the issue is.
Hello great video John , i changed my impeller recently by watching your video which helped me alot. I have a question about the propeller when i put the gear in to reverse mode is it possible to move the propeller by hand in any direction then? I have a mercury 50 hp 4 stroke from 1997 Best regard Jocke
i have a 2018 40hp 4-stroke mercury outboard. Is this kit the same one because the motor you have in the video is much older. Do you have more current video's for newer models?
Great video, just a question though how does the selector shaft come out ? The long selector shaft on my engine has a slight bend near where it goes into bottom housing and its jammed up not moving up and down

Changing out water pump in a 2002 mercury 40 horse 2 stroke engine have t 2: rubber washer where do they go
Can I use Lucas multi purpose marine grease for this? It’s blue in color if that maters.

Danger marine has a video just for you, shows you the "Tricks" - including the "Back Saver".
60 inch lbs and not foot lbs. I almost made a big mistake lol. Triple check everything.
