    Great video, Peyton! I'm getting ready to maintain my Merc 3-1/2 HP and this video will be a great help. One item you didn't mention is flushing the motor. I'm having a problem finding the right adapter to do that. Do you know what I should be looking for to flush the motor?

      Thank you, I'm glad I am able to help. One of the downsides to this outboard is that given how small/slim the lower unit is there isn't a good way to flush it using muffs. The best way I've found to flush this outboard is by either filling up a 5 gallon bucket and having a stand that sits low enough to it or buying an inexpensive used 55 gallon drum and placing the outboard on the side of it like I did in the video and fill it up to where the lower unit is 6 inches underwater.

      @@BuckcreekTVThe manual refers to a "hose coupling" and says to use a Mercury Precision or Quicksilver accessory without providing any specifics. As I can't seem to find a coupling, the bucket method may be my only option. Thanks again.

      They might possibly be referring to the Quicksilver through gear case flush kit I don't have any experience with it though and could not give it my endorsement

    Hi there, greetings from the other side of the world, thx for your video, i learned a lot thx to you. I got an issue with my carb, may you help me find out the cause : it does not keep the idle position and just tirn off as soon as i push the choke. Any idea ?

      @@sabrimounirbougherara7171 likely need to adjust your idle speed. This can be done if a screw on the side of the carburetor but it will require it being removed. For some reason they did not put the adjustment screws towards the outside to make it easier to adjust

    Why didn't you change the oil filter?

    • @BuckcreekTV
      @BuckcreekTV  2 місяці тому

      @@carlmyers7524 on these small engines there isn't an oil filter. That's pretty common on outboards below 6-8hp or a couple hundred cc engines such as generators.

    Thank you!!! How are you liking it so far? Any issues with the carb?

    • @BuckcreekTV
      @BuckcreekTV  5 місяців тому +2

      @@nexcuc1374 I did have some initial issues. The original owner used ethanol fuel so I had to clean the carb and he adjusted the float height way too high causing gas to flood out of the carb. Since I fixed those problems with the help of my cousin I haven't had any issues out of it. Good little outboard.

    Impellor?

      That's usually done on the 300hr service. Usually involves disconnecting a couple of boats to remove the lower unit from the upper as well as disconnecting the gear linkage.
