Glad you enjoy this easy, affordable sipper. I have not had their Legacy, but I did not enjoy their 12 so I have not picked it up. I should probably give it another try. Thanks for sharing!
Never had any Tomatin yet,. Not a distillery I ever think much about, so was intrigued to learn they have some of the longest fermentation times in the industry. Got me doing a bit more searching and hence I have stumbled upon this old review! Thinking of giving this a go for sure, or maybe a few samples of different Tomatins. Great review as ever buddy, hope you're keeping well.
Really nice, fruity, juicy with distinct woodiness on the nose. Refreshing energetic with wave of spiciness and darker finish where woodiness coming back adding some taninic accent. £25.00 is like a bargain. Cheers!
Great review Jim, bought this around two years ago for €19 (£17 +/-). For the money its a decent single malt. An easy sipper or as a long drink. The legacy is a better buy than some big name blended scotch brands . Would rather have this over ice than a JW black 12 (for example). Love your reviews Jim, solid, honest and down to earth.👍🥃 Slàinte
Cheers David. Very much appreciated buddy. Yeah I hadn't actually thought about it like that. When you can buy a lot of these NAS single malts for the price of a blend...I know where I'd put my money. Thanks mate.
Just finished one of these. Had one before about 4 years ago. Good for $27 but my memory of it was better than how I found it this time. Of course have had a lot of very good whisky since then so there you go. Just figured out why your bottles and glens have a green tint on them in places. The Green screen that is covered by the image behind you. Duh ! My Sunday morning stupid moment ;-p Cheers Jim
😄😄 cheers Tim. Yeah this one, I noticed, has more green hue than usual. When my eye's start to change colour...it's time for us to worry 😉😄😄😄🧟♂️ Thanks buddy. I believe this whisky is just a good, cheap, beginner's pick up.
Great review Jim! Indeed a strong contender for the title of best entry level whisky available, I think. Often retails around €25 here, and when you see what you get for that money-especially h2h with other whiskies around that pricepoint, there's little to argue about. That said, there's no way I'd pay more than €30 for it. Enjoyable, unpretentious easy sipping. Cheers!
An enjoyable, easy sipper indeed Jim. You nailed it and you're right about not thinking too much about this one, just enjoy it for what it is at a great price point. Straight in, no kissin'😏 Cheers mucker, nearly at the big 1k now!
Cheers Al. Aye 1k 1 day buddy 😄. Up and down like a yo-yo. But hey...I'm in it for the joy of doing it. And for the opportunity to drink whisky of course 😁😇😄
Great review! I’m off to a blind tasting this weekend with a group of pretty serious whisky folk, I’m taking this to put the cat among the pigeons. Always found it one to preform well in a blind challenge alongside some stiff competition…we shall see! Keep up the good work!
I love this one. It was a sympathy purchase. I felt sorry for the shop owner, I was about to leave empty handed. It's a vanilla bomb, and there's nothing wrong with vanilla. I just wish it was an integrity presentation.
Cheers Matt (now that I know your name 😄) Yeah I toatally agree. And it's something you don't hear to often...vanilla bomb. But I/we do like them when done right.
In Bulgaria this one can be had for as much as 19 euros per bottle. I guess, at this price it is a perfectly viable option for a whisky to start one's journey with. Or to treat some friends and colleagues who are not so much into malt whisky. Something to lift the bar slightly above the super market blends used for mixing with cola. Good price/quality ratio, reliable product.
Nice one Jim, I am going to be the bad guy and say I wasn't the biggest fan of it. Barely got anything on the snout or tongue, will have to return to it one time though. Love the colours on the subscribe and bell icon by the way. Sexy coins also!
How about you Jim? Lovely review as always. Can you tell me - are your whisky coins still available? If so, where can I pick one up please? Slainte, Dave T.
Hi Dave. I have some coins left. They cost £7.50 (this includes P&P) and this can be paid via Paypal to: whiskeynovice44@gmail.com Should you choose to order...just leave your name and address along with the order and I'll get it off to you. Cheers.
Haven’t had any Tomatin yet. Why because a store clerk turned me away from it when I was new to whisky. He said it was s#%* but I need to try it as I’ve heard others tell me it’s a decent pour.
I believe, if you get this one at the right price Antonio, as Menno said, it's one of the best entry level whiskys on the market. And I definately think Tomatin are worth investigating buddy. Cheers.
Would love to try this one, Jim, for all the reasons you gave. I know Big Al liked this more than the 12 year old. What do you see as the diffs between the twa?
It's a while since I've had the 12 Rich (review coming later this year/early next year) but from memory, this is lighter and fruitier. That's just from memory mind you and at our age....😄 This one's definately worth a pick up if you can get it at the right price. Cheers mate.
You made me taste wallpaper paste when I was tasting along with you... thanks for that. Great review btw.
Glad you enjoy this easy, affordable sipper. I have not had their Legacy, but I did not enjoy their 12 so I have not picked it up. I should probably give it another try. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers Jon. I don't mind the 12 but this, in my opinion, is better. Lighter, brighter and better value for money.
Thanks buddy.
@@WhiskeyNovice Better? Well then I'm interested. Thanks!

Anxiety-free sipping… quite right Jim. Now… finish reading me that book pls
😂😂 well...the butler did it!
Cheers Roy.
For the price certainly not a bad whisky. Well described, Jim. Thanks for reviewing.

So this is a good one to fend off mooches you say? I will take this in consideration should they ever show up in big numbers. 😁
😄😄😄 renamed Tomatin Mooch Shield (or the Gaelic equivalent) tomorrow 😆
Cheers Bernd.
