I've yet to see the Tomatin Cask Strength but it looks like a buy-on-sight bottle. Love all the Tomatins I've tried. Great review, cheers Scott and Bart!
Hi there, watching from Hampton Inn hotel in Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico!, will be touring the tequila distilleries, around thia region, allready saw a distillery called "tequilas del señor", where they use bourbon casks (Heaven Hill casks). Have not seen the Tomatin in the San Diego Area yet, will be lookinh out for it. Great. Thanl you Scott, thank you Bart. Will be sending some photos from the tequila distilleries soon.
Great review! This one sounds great. I have a different Tomatin cask strength, a store cask pick from Crown Liquors in Indiana. It's fantastic. It's a single cask, so it's ex-bourbon only, no sherry in the mix. I'll keep an eye out for this one. And thanks for the shout-out(s)! Graham and I both got double the shout-out, LOL. Cheers!
Tomatin remains one of my ALL TIME favorite single malt whiskies. The very first single malt scotch I tried (and remains a favorite) is the Tomatin Dualchas/Legacy. Just purchased the 18 yr expression a few nights ago and it is sublime (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GUYS REVIEW THE 18 YR SOMETIME)..... SLAINTE!
Great review as always gents! The Cask Strength is part of the Core Range but has been released as a limited time offer in the States for now. The liquid is 50% fully matured in Bourbon and 50% fully matured in sherry then these two spirits are married together at 9 years of age. Slainte!
Scotch Test Dummies Yes I am. Glad you two got to go. I can tell you had a great time 👍 Surprisingly I enjoyed Speyside more than Islay. Better tour and felt less rushed. Have some traveling Dummies photos to share. Will DM.
Seems young to me. Really like their 14 port and the 18 oloroso is very good. This one isn't quite there. Might as well go port for a few bucks more. Palates are different YMMV
They have a nice tour, you get to taste the peated and unpeated barley. They have their own cooper on location and lots of other special things. If you are there get the tour and try out the whisky flavored toffee.
that's great! I'd still love to see you guys reach out to them because they have been doing some very good work over the years. Maybe a collaboration in the future. Cheers!
Just polished off my bottle last week. Tasty stuff but all quite brief and rushed on the palate. Water helped. Got a deal at £30, couldn't say no, but not sure I'll rush back for another.
I have the 2015, version of this one, old style bottle and at least 2 shades darker. Will have to revisit as I was not that impressed when I first tried this a couple years or so ago. Odd that every Tomatin cask strength release is 57.5% ABV
I'll b visiting their distillery in the mourning.. hoping to come home with a selection of their 8 12 15 and if im feeling rich enough an 18 yo bottles..
I'll say that cask strength Scotch is always in my wheelhouse, but the only Tomantin I've ever seen is the 12 yo, 14 yo Port Finish, and the Cubocan. Wow, is it already that time of year for the 12 Hours of Boom, well I guess there better be food or there will trouble. Just kidding. Cheers to the best of drams!

Very nice. Thanks Scott. I also sent you an email about 3 weeks ago. Let me know if that got through. Bart
Lot of great highland distilleries near Inverness. Also try the Whisky & Rye Bar there. Have some great 30+ yo single malts on top shelf.
are you back in the states Hoyet?

True true
so funny you review this; although i am easily amused. i just bought a Tomatin sample pack with the 12, 15,18 year versions.
i've seen those as well!

been there! don't think we tried the whisky flavored toffee though!
Great review, guys! I’ve been enjoying this bottle for about a month now after first seeing it at my local Spec’s here in DFW.
Thanks T Greene!
I like this Distillery and I love this profile my friends.
Great Distillery!!!
Tried this today, it was very pleasant.
i just about bought another bottle of this today but picked up the 15 year Moscatel finish instead!
I'd love to see you guys reach out to the single malt review guys from New Zealand for your 12 hours of boom.
Lineup already set. should be posting some social media items soon!

I have yet to see this as well in Minnesota. Will put if on my to buy list for sure.
Sainte Dummies!
absolutely! thanks Corey!
I need this bottle. Cask strength all the way!
thanks Bourbon Buddies!
BOOM ready! Hope you guys are all trained and ready for the long haul. Bart breaking in/ training a new manga shirt I see.
Manga will be on display

had never seen it before, thought this was a new offering!
It sounds like my kind of whiskey! Hopefully I’ll find it sometime in my neck of the woods.
definitely look for it Dong.

you will want to try the distillery release bottlings in the visitor center. Their PX cask has been phenomenal!

yes they are!

Hello Gents. How has this whisky stand the past of time? Still worth a try? Thank you!
Bart has not been back to this one but enjoys Tomatin very much. Their distillery bottles are some of the very very best.
hiya scott. i think it’s been around a year. when do we get un update on the macallan 12 gas vs no gas bottles??
we did our first update last january. next one will be in december or january.
I'll stick to 18. I find the others below par. Not in quality but in taste. 18 being one of my all time favorites.
Thanks Gregoire! Love the 14 and 18 too!
What can I say I’m addicted to STD’s! Pop Rocks candy Bart, that’s what I call the high avb tongue tingle. Great job guys, Slainte Dummies❣️
awesome! thanks Chad!
I think you guys need to score independently and write it down. I think Scott’s score influences Bart’s.
i can guarantee you, Bart isn't influenced by my scores! Scott
This one has a fairly mediocre score on www.distiller.com Rating of 3.33 out of 31 tastes
is that out of a score of 5?
