Nami, I am delighted to see you back on the screen. This is the format I remember from long ago and the one that made me subscribe! I have cooked your recipes more times than is possible to count, for myself, family and friends. In this way, you have brought japanese food into the lives of people who would otherwise have never experienced it. Thank you.
Aww.. your words mean so much to me! Thank you!!! We're happy to be back on UA-cam after a year of taking a break. We look forward to sharing more videos with you. I'm so happy you're making Japanese food at home. I'm here to help! I or my team always respond to email if you have any questions! :)
Looking forward to this one!
Looks very oishii!!! 👍
Arigato!! 🤗💗
I just did it, it was really easy and delicious! Thank you for the recipe!
Glad you liked it!!🩷
I made this over the weekend and it was perfect! I didn’t miss the deep fried taste. Thank you. 😋😋😋
I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Love, love, love this recipe!! Tonkatsu was one of my favorite dishes when stationed in Okinawa. Looking forward to making it.
Hope you enjoy! 🤗❤️❤️
Una forma diferente de hacerlo, qué bien!!😊 thank you
Thank you for watching!
I've done this recipe and it's great!
Thank you Rachel! I'm so happy to hear that you liked it! :)
@@justonecookbook I love all your recipes! This one is really great because while I love fried tonkatsu this tastes exactly the same and doesn't leave the smell of oil lingering in the house!
I love your cooking from istanbul
Thank you so much for tuning in!
I don't often eat pork because its on my "for treats only" list for my from my doctor's reccomended diet but this looks so lean and healthy and the lovely cabbage salad and crisp coating on the Tonkatsu that I actually want to skip my usual treats to try this recipe :)
I recommend making chicken katsu (deep-fried or baked versions)! Thank you for watching my video! Here's the baked chicken katsu recipe: www.justonecookbook.com/crispy-baked-chicken/
Yay! I haven’t seen one of your videos in a while!
Thank you! Happy to be back! 🥰❤️
I made this recipe about 3 weeks ago and it was a hit! Crispy and delicious and no hard clean up. The prep time took longer since it was my first time and I need to re-read a recipe about 20x before and during the actual cooking process so I can feel that I am doing it correctly. I loved this recipe and have confidence that I can make it a regular meal for my family. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for trying this recipe!
I had the same issue of it taking longer than just a simple fried one but it's cause I've never toasted breadcrumbs before so I had to figure out the timing for my stove's temps, after that though it was the best tonkatsu I've made...even better than when I fry it so I can see why it would be a hit with others.
Love it. I prefer to avoid frying whenever possible, but I love making tonkatsu
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for this latest video Nami, I will definitely be trying this one....love tonkatsu!
May I request a video showing how to make the red pickle that goes on the side of a curry? It's so delicious but expensive to import!
I have the recipe on the website! 🤗
@justonecookbook I looked but must have missed it...thanks Nami!
I made this just tonight, it was even more tender and juicy than when I fry it. It took a little bit longer since I'm not used to toasting panko bread crumbs so I had to adjust my timing and everything but put over some rice with the homemade tonkatsu sauce you have was amazing. The only thing I did different was season the flour and then added a tiny splash (not even a full half tablespoon) of Worcestershire sauce and a small splash of apple cider vinegar to the egg and oil mix. Apple cider vinegar goes really well with pork dishes, those three little changes aside this is one of the best tonkatsu dishes I've made in a long while and it's really low in oil so it's much better for me than frying it like I normally do, I'll have to do it more often.
Awesome! Thank you for giving my recipe a try!
Oh wow, didn't think of that. That's so cool, how does it taste compared to deep frying? Thank you for these great recipes
As a deep-fried food lover, I'd say there's nothing compared to freshly fried food... but this is really good! Make sure to toast the panko first! :)
I am already thinking of using this receipe to make Katsu-don! I would love to do this in my airfryer! Do you have the adjustments for an airfryer (cook time & Cook temperature)?
I don’t have an airfryer but a lot of JOC readers do! And I have baked Katsudon recipe on the website 🤗❤️
Oh yes you have to have the shredded cabbage. I like making dipping sauces this way it's more controlled.
Yes! It’s pretty good Tonkatsu sauce!
@@justonecookbook enjoy the rest of your weekend
That’s a genius way to skip deep frying but still have flavourful panko
Hope you enjoy!! Thank you for watching!
Would this work for air fryers too? Can you please suggest the temp and length of cooking? Thank you very much and I'm adding this to my weekly dinners :)
I don’t own one so I can’t tell… but a lot of people have told me they used an air fryer and like it!
Hi Nami San! Mecha Oishisou desu ne?!? What a great recipe! I look forward to trying it out! Is your daughter doing your voiceover for you? If so, I cannot believe how time has flown. ❤ Take care!
Hi Mindy! Domo arigato! Yes, she has been doing for the past several videos. But starting next week I'll have to take over as she's been too busy with her school work. Thank you for your kind words. Do you remember my kids' voice saying "Itadakimasu" at the end of the video? She was 5 year old back then! Take good care!
@@justonecookbook …..Yes, yes! I remember! Your daughter is doing a great job helping you. It’s so crazy how quickly they’ve grown. Our one and only son is about to turn 27 in 5 days. I wish I could turn back the clock.
Nami San….. I made your homemade udon noodles last night. Zanendeshita ne…..I cut them too thick. I was going to give up, but I won’t. I’m going to try again. I absolutely appreciate and love you, your hard work, and your recipes! Especially, your homemade mochi and ozoni recipe on New Years Day. Thank you!
I’m here 🙏ohayu gozaimasu🤚🏻
Ohayo!! Thank you for being here!
I have the same shredder and drainer lol
Where can I buy your cookbooks? Thanks
Thank you! I'm a bit wary of deep frying so far. I had two questions. 1. How would things turned out if we used an air fryer. 2. Could we follow this process for chicken katsu and change the cooking time accordingly?
EDIT: Nevermind saw the air fryer comment
Thank you for watching! I have Baked Chicken Katsu recip here: www.justonecookbook.com/crispy-baked-chicken/
I hope you enjoy!
If I'm going to coat it in egg and oil, could I instead use mayo?
Yes you can!
The wire rack is the secret… I tried making this without, and the bottom side ended up soggy 😂 time to invest in one…
Yes!!🤗
I don't take pork so I"ll replace with beef or chicken meat
