Yakisoba is what I HAVE to eat, when I am dying for a pizza. Let me explain. Yakisoba is SO not filling and it makes you hungry 10min after you eat it. So when I am too full to have a whole large pizza because I had a burger just few hours ago, I just eat Yakisoba. Problem SOLVED! I just wait 15min and I feel hungry again. So hungry that I can eat two large pizzas. I think that all that yakisoba is useful for.
I have used her recipes before to include making the sauces and for a guy who really doesn't care for cooking, I must say that not only are they easy, but they are delicious!!! I was intimidated to cook Japanese food, but no longer am. Thanks for the great recipes!!!
Hi David! I hear often from my readers that they thought it's too scary to cook Japanese food before because it seems mysterious. LOL. Japanese main ingredients are pretty similar, so once you have them, you can make many dishes. I hope my UA-cam channel and blog will help you cook more Japanese food at home (and they taste better than restaurants!) ;)
Big WOW !!! The presentation alone is worth not only a "LIKE" but .... A silent demonstration to prepare ---and which--- veggies, the background non-intrusive music .... only music... no narrative. Enough to make you cry,,,, Thank You.
Very, very good demonstration. It was so fun to watch and I really liked the fact that you prepared this recipe on a flat grill which most of us have and I enjoyed the pace of the video and demonstrations on how to prepare the vegetables. Thank you and good job!
I enjoy your recipes very much, thank you. Japenese cuisine is my favourite and I like making the different dishes. We have hosted Japanese students over the years and they have enjoyed these dishes when I have prepared them. We look forward to visiting Japan in the not too distant future (put off because of the pandemic :(
A delicious-looking dinner, with the technique explained clearly, filmed beautifully, and a relaxing musical accompaniment. What more could any person want? Thank you, and be well.
I went to the Summer festival in Japan and had street yakisoba. I'm always disappointed when I go to Japanese restaurants in America because their yakisoba uses different vegetables. Same with the large pork Gyoza and kareage from Osaka Osho. I fell in love with it and no American restaurant has the same delicious taste.... I may be homesick for Japanese food.
I am Indian but my aunt is Japanese. I remember when I was a kid when I first visited Japan my aunt made these noodles. So nostalgic! Also, I really liked the balance between the ambient sound and the background music.

Nami, I picked up the ingredients and made it today. So delicious and simple! It used mostly pantry items and I will definitely be making it those nights after work where I’m low on energy.
I skip the Worcestershire sauce and instead add premade garlic and shallot paste, the sauce is really nice! Thank you so much for giving the exact measurements, because some recipe called for “eye balled” measurements and I always failed making the seasonings 😅
Looks so good! I was taught to make it adding a little sauce as I go . I always have good memories of my Japanese friends when I make it. I use regular pork or chicken! Yum!. Thank you.
Beautiful recipe! I even added a tablespoon of honey to the Yakisoba sauce and it gave it more sweet and less tang. But easily my favorite thing to eat now.
Wow, what an amazing video! Loved your intro, your smile and then the music, the sizzle from cooking, the lighting, the quality... amazing! This was a pleasure to watch, thank you for sharing ❤️
New comment to an old video. When I was in the Navy I was stationed out of Yokosuka. Our berth was pier 6. At the base of the pier was a little joint called Pier 6 Pub. They served yakisoba, fried rice and beer. Whenever we were in port I ate yakisoba and beer every single day for lunch :)
You're videos are so nicely done, you & your camera person are amazing! This video put me into a relaxed trance omg everything in life was perfect for a few minutes *Q*
That's because no one makes it here. Most Japanese restaurants are more a formal place. Yakisoba is what is known as a street food. Kinda like an outdoor little cook stand at a fair where you get your $5.00 heart attack food only much better. I gotta go back to Japan now damn it. I'm hungry again. Thanks. Hahaha.
We really enjoyed this dish too. You make it easy for others to make these delicious meals. You are one of the few people who actually does manage to make it so simple to follow so it is feasible to do and your time indications are true for a novice too. We are well impressed with all your recipies that we have tried so far. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I try to write more details in the step by step recipe on the blog, as it gets a bit too crowded if I start adding lots of caption here... but will think about it. :)
My first introduction with Hamburger Yakisoba was onboard USS Flately (FFG-21). I was a sailor back then. You might freak out but our Mess Specialists (cooks) provided Parmesan Cheese for us to sprinkle on yakisoba. I loved it then and every now an then... I'll make Navy Yakisoba... makes me smile.

I've been making Yakisoba for years and this is my go-to recipe, making your own sauce is easy and worth it, you can customize it to be better than store bought.
The amount of sauce is the result of "easier to measure" amount. You can adjust the amount of sauce based on the amount of meat/veggies - I don't want everyone to go through not having enough sauce toward the end of cooking. I think I mentioned that in my written recipe (www.justonecookbook.com/yakisoba/).
