This is a very clear and detailed instruction of how to make Tonkatsu. I appreciate that you included the cabbage slicing and what to do with leftover components! Thanks Mr. Kunihiro, I really hope you publish a cookbook some day.
@@sushibykunihiro7534 Honestly, there are many yewtoob chefs who are probably providing good recipes and techniques, but I just can't get past their obnoxious personalities. I could name several, but that would not be polite. They each have their own fan base, and there is room for everybody on the internet. But I come to Kunihiro for cooking therapy. 😆😂🤣
After living in japan for 10 years, ppl ask me what I miss the most, First being the food, and 2nd how polite and respectful Japanese ppl are. You really learn a lot about yourself and culture when living in another culture. Here in the US we have a lot to be desired. Its ok when I retired in another 20 years, my wife and I are moving back.
Back in the late 70s my mother would make chicken tonkatsu. The tonkatsu sauce she would make it herself... Ketchup and soy sauce. Saved her a long drive to little Tokyo in LA.
I am a Japanese/American with a dash of Filipino. The Japanese side of me loves to prepare this dish for all my friends. I use pork steak for more flavor and all enjoy the crispy fat. I'm proud of my Japanese heritage.
I can’t believe it has taken me quite a while to find your channel. You give exceptional details about your recipes and I can’t thank you enough for sharing them with us. Your channel is the best I have found and I will certainly follow you every time you post another recipe. Thank you again so much. ❤❤❤
At last a man after my own heart a "no waste cook" So many cooks throw food away whats left of the preparation even the egg isn't wasted I am hooked and will watch more of your videos plus of course I will cook and try it in the hope that its as good as yours Many many thanks
That's the same tonkatsu sauce I'm using! It's so delicious. I put it on everything lol. I just dipped fried potatoes in it earlier. Edit: I didn't know about adding oil to the egg. I didn't know about using chopsticks as a thermometer. I also didn't know about putting the tonkatsu on it's side. I learned so much! You cook a beautiful piece of meat
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that you found the tutorial helpful and that your family enjoyed the Tonkatsu recipe. It's always rewarding to know that my efforts are appreciated. 😊
I'm so glad to hear that. Japanese food is basically very simple. Our intention is always to draw out the best flavor of each Ingredient. That's why I always explain many things in my videos. Every small step matters. Thank you so much for supporting my channel.😊
Very happy that your channel just pop up . I did the steam egg + tonkatsu + dashi(from scratch) VERY easily with your instruction . My wife say WT* happened to me to make those delicious dishes . Easy to follow and im not a cook , clear instruction , to be honest except the dashi its also pretty quick to prepare and cook as well. i didnt have Worcestershire sauce so i just added one tbp of soy sauce + apple vinegar and it turn out excellent
Tonkatsu was my favorite dishes from a now-closed family owned Japanese restaurant. My go-to dish on a cold winter evening. Filling, tender, savory and delicious! *delighted to find your channel through your wonderful tempura video.
You are SO skilfull with the knife.Your tutorial is so informative and easy to follow.I LOVE JAPANESE FOOD so your channel is so good! Looking forward to more of your tutorial.Thank you a million!
Love you tips and techniques. Been cooking a long time (I'm 64) but never heard of adding a bit of oil to the egg. Great tip! Hello from Willamette Valley, Oregon USA.

I don't know where/when the idea to you must use high heat when frying got started but this recipe in particular proves lower and slower works SO much better. The meat is juicier, the crust crunchier, and the crust stays on the meat. So glad I found your channel.
I love your videos! My kid can be a picky eater, so usually when I make an effort to cook something special, it's kind of a waste. But she kept asking for more of this tonkatsu 😊
I tried cooking tonkatsu using Kunihiro-san's recipe and it turned out very good!!! Thank you for the little tips it really helped so much with cooking 🙇♀️

Spot on. One twist you can try is to cut a shallow crossing pattern into both sides. I prefer the cook this way, but you will not get the nice slices if you do it. Also, blending in some corn starch into the flour can help make a crispy crust. Nice video!
