    When I was a kid and mom would ask what I wanted for birthday dinner the answer was always break apart meat. No that I am grown and am so passionate about Asian food Japanese in particular this just went to the top of my list of dises to cook next. Thank you Nami!! Your children are SO lucky!

      Thanks so much for watching! Hope you enjoy this recipe! My kids eat the same food over and over while I'm testing recipes (so I won't forget the taste, etc). They can't eat the same food anymore by the time I shoot for the blog/youtube. LOL!

    You made my wife a convert to the Instant Pot and pressure cooking in general. She has always felt that pressure cooking tends to muddy and dull flavors in any dish. As she was cooking this one, she had a bottle of fish sauce at the ready in case it was needed. Thankfully it was not. I haven’t seen her as happy with cooking a dish a dish in years. She is a good cook, but I think from now on she won’t avoid the pressure cooker like the plague. Thanks!

      Awww! I wasn't really into pressure cooking (on the stovetop) for many years because of the noise etc... but with an electric pressure cooker, I love that I can leave the kitchen in the evening to drive around the kids for their activities etc and come home for hot food. It's amazing! I need to add more pressure cooker recipes for busy moms and homecooks! :) Thanks so much for watching my video and for your support!

    If I don’t have a pressure cooker, how long can I slow cook this on the stove top in a regular pot? Arigato

    Would I cook this the same way in a regular steel pot, if I do not have an Instant Pot? I'd love to try this.

      Look for a recipe for braised short ribs. That's started on the stove then in the oven. Nice in the winter time!

    Hi, I have a question. When we are using pressure cooking method, do we need to add water until a bit submerged? I am afraid it will burn without adding water

    • @justonecookbook
      @justonecookbook  5 місяців тому

      No, you do not need the food to be submerged. It's not a soup, so you just need enough liquid to cook (which you have plenty). Also, daikon release a lot of moisture, too. :)

    Is it healthy to sear meat in sesame oil? (low smoking point)

    • @justonecookbook
      @justonecookbook  6 місяців тому +1

      In general, sesame oil is one of the healthiest oils. You can use neutral oil here but the Japanese sometimes use sesame oil to sauté and stir fry (just a tiny fragrance and taste needed) as opposed to Korean cooking drizzling the sesame oil at the end of cooking for fragrance and flavors.
