YOOOOOO WAIT, HOLD ON!! Instead of donating to a library, please consider donating your books to a high-needs public school ;A; You have no idea how thirsty teachers are for great books, and you have some GREAT BOOKS on that shelf
Years ago, my boyfriend and I came up with the exact plot of Dark Matter by Blake Crouch without ever having heard of him or the book. I definitely believe story ideas are their own entity and can go wherever they like if you don't take them first.
About twice a year I declutter my bookshelf, and my kid's bookshelves. We take them up to half priced books and they give us money for more books. I'm really not sure if that's helpful, or harmful to the cleaning process, but we get pretty excited about it.
Books with memories attached are super hard to let go. I still have the same copy of twilight that I brought my freshman year of high school & I'm a graduating senior in college now. I'll probably never reread it and I'm almost certain i wouldn't enjoy now but 14 yr old me & my best friend were DIEHARDS of the series then
I literally got rid of like 200 books not too long ago because I realized that I still remembered the stories but I’d never read them again... so I got rid of them! They were stressing me out and my tastes had changed so much since when I had bought them... I honestly feel so much better and lighter and I feel like I can read new books and genres and it’s so freeing!!
Replica i'm currently reading and I like it so far. I recommend reading one chapter of lyra then one chapter of gemma and keeping switching every time you read a chapter. It makes it interesting so far to me. Falling Kingdoms I really like the first book [gave it 4/5 stars]
Seeing this video in my feed made my day, I love unhauls so much! I think it's the best feeling to go through your books and keep only those you really want to own :- ) You did a great job! :- )
I love how every night for the past week I have had this urge to get rid of all my books and this video pops up into my recommended. I've read Trial by Fire and at the time I really loved it, it has parallel universes and witches and magic, highly recommend :)
I recently decided to get back into YA and fantasy after reading adult romance for years. I’d also unhauled and decided to keep the Falling Kingdom books, reread the first 2 or 3 books and continue on. They still interest me. 🤷🏻♀️
I've read Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini, and I liked it, really like the concept of every decision you make there is a parallel world where you made the other choice and it's just SO interesting idea, but idk if you'll like it because that's the concept but the plot is a sickly girl who gets pulled by her alternative self to parallel world where the decision to burn the Salem Witches instead of hang them spawn them powerful witches who had the ability to firewalk and harness the flames as power. I liked the first two books because I read them back to back, and I feel like I'm a binge reader with series. If I don't read all three, then I lose the mood/momentum and maybe that's why I didn't finish book 3.
I agree, I had loads of books I loved as a teen and although I still love them so much and they hold dear to me; I didn't feel the need to hold onto them and I can always borrow them from my local library or even an eBook if I wanted. It was really hard to let them go but I know they will go to someone who will enjoy them just as much I did! There is a few I did keep because they hold a very dear place in my heart but the rest i knew I wasn't really going to read them again.
I hadn't thought of 'Anna Dressed in Blood' for years and only vaguely remember it now. Talk about a blast from the past! I just got Undead Girl Gang from my library on a whim (before it closed for now) and I'll probably end up reading it since it won't be long before I run out of books!
I LOVED the "What's Left of Me" series by Kat Zhang. I read it years ago and still think back fondly of it. This is the first video I've seen of your channel so I don't know how much our reading tastes coincide, but I just had to put it out there.
The book itself I enjoyed! The author has just made some less than flattering comments towards reviewers/fans online that have kind of put me off supporting him.
I feel you so much on Marked. I have the first 7 books in the series and I was way into them when they first came out. I started to reread them and am currently on book 5. They get better, but not by much. Just solidly bad books.
I mean it might be because I’ve read this series for over 10 years so I might be biased but I really enjoy the series and the characters. Like it’s an older series so rereading it now kinda problematic but there is still the nostalgia there that I will keep going back to them. Also the novellas are really good soo.
I just read Strange the Dreamer and I was putting it off for a while because I didn’t like the synopsis even after hearing from so many people that it was good but I did end up really enjoying it.
Star touched queen, and fallen kingdom weren’t good. I wouldn’t recommend keeping them. I also didn’t like the daughter of smoke and bone series but I LOVED strange the dreamer so I recommend you do give it a chance!
I really loved The Flappers series. I got Vixen from a library book store. I read it when I was your age, but back in 2013. It found the trilogy to be a lot of fun, but like you said I’m not 100% sure how it’s aged.
I've read the entire flappers series very mediocre outside of the setting. I would highly suggest Speak Easy, Speak Love. Similar vibes but more diverse more interesting and an excellent retelling of Much Ado About Nothing.
Poetry recommendation 1) Haiku World by Kuo Kenih 2)No Connection by Kuo Kenih 3) It is what it is by Kuo Kenih 4) Flavor by Kuo Kenih. All books are available on Amazon kindle, kindle unlimited and paperback.
When you said City of Ghosts I was like GASP but after you said you enjoyed it... I was a lot happier. Hahaha! It feels so good to get rid of books. ^__^
I read My Life Next Door like my freshman year also of HS and I’m a fresh in college now and I recently reread it and oh my gosh It’s not the best but I Iove this book
DUDE. I recently reread Marked because I loved it in middle school and therefore still own a copy, but also knew I would hate it as an adult. And sure enough, it really is one of the worst books I’ve ever read. BUT, now I can never get rid of it because I have such a weird history with it. And also my friends and I are starting a terrible YA book club so that’s going to be on our list 😂
If you are looking for a hard hitting contemporary book, I recommend More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera. 👍 I am curious how shipping works in the US. In the Philippines, it is much more worth it to send in bulk because prices range depending on the mass that you will send (e.g. Something like 0-50 kilos is like 200 pesos). 🤔 Truly Devious was underwhelming, not bad, just fine. I will still give Vanishing Stair a chance. I am just not so excited. I am holding on to Twilight (pretty much to all of my books) for now, even if I gave it 1.25 out of 5 stars. Your cats are supah cute. I love my cats as well. 😻🐈🐱
I LOVED Strange the Dreamer! The 2nd book went in a different direction than I thought it would, but it was still good. I read Wrath of the Dawn when it came out due to book tube hype and did not like it.
I also find it really difficult to get read of books I still haven't read because WHAT iF I wILl LiKe TheM??!!! So good job on getting rid of some of your unread books!!💪
I mean of you can't decide if you want to keep it or not, you could alwaus go back and read it in ebook or audiobook form so it doesn't clutter up your bookshelf :)
Maybe I’m just really obsessed with Supernatural, but I’m wondering why you named your cat Dean...is it after Dean Winchester? By the way, they are both adorable. 🥰
This was painful to watch lol I'm definitely a hoarder when it comes to books. I'd rather have a shelf of books than a framed poster on the wall, so reading aside, it's kind of a decorating decision. Also, I like to keep everything I have read because that is the only way I can remember what I have read and what I have not. I have literally gotten 120 pages into a book before realizing I already read it before! It's horrible.
All those books where I think I missed the window of enjoyment? I read them all in the same month. I tend to DNF them all, but at the end of the month, I have like 12 fewer books on my shelf and I feel good because I at least gave them a chance. 😅
Hey! If you have any younger YA books or suggestions, I’ll take it! I curate books for friends and their little siblings and especially right now it would be super helpful!
At 11:34 the books city of bones, city of ashes, and city of glass are kinda bothering me because the are not together because they are a series idk why it bothers me but it’s your bookshelves and you can do what you want absolutely no hate whatsoever
Why did you get rid of the wake trilogy? I loved them when I first read them but I need to re-read them. But still I’m interested why you decided to part with them.
Currently reading daughter of smoke and bone for the first time and I’m struggling so hard ... I just feel like this book was for sure from a different time and that books nowa days are much better .. I dunno I’m barely half way so il see how I go but I’m struggling 🤣
tbh if you’re undecided on some of them, you can definitely hold onto them for now. Maybe keep them aside so you have to look at them and as the days pass, you’ll realize which you’d miss if you got rid of them. And for the ones you haven’t read, just think about your excitement towards them. Do you really actually want to read them at some point?
Hahah I get that about keeping Marked, I absolutely hated Caraval by Stephanie Garber but for some reason will not get rid of it and some dumb part of my brain thought I should read the sequel which was a mistake I'm 23 and am in a similar situation with having old books from when I was 13-14, and they're all angsty teen books that look like absolute garbage ahaha looks like you had much better taste than I did at that time!
AAAAHHHH so many of the books you are getting rid of are books that I want to get. xDD Do you still have them?? I can def pay shipping on Thursday. xDD
Hey, I'm a fan of Jay Kristoff who wrote nevernight, what did he do that was problematic? Because I haven't heard anything but I really want to know. I don't want to support someone who's problematic.
Amy Jones there’s been a couple of things - most recently this on Twitter: twitter.com/misterkristoff/status/1233142335677943808?s=21 where he’s talking about a valid criticism made by a poc booktuber. They quoted that booktuber’s tweet and kinda put them on blast with their huge followings.
"It's like my most hated book ever and watch me hold on to this until I die" -> such a mood
I have a book like that! It feels like a parasite, and I just cannot get rid of it!
YOOOOOO WAIT, HOLD ON!! Instead of donating to a library, please consider donating your books to a high-needs public school ;A; You have no idea how thirsty teachers are for great books, and you have some GREAT BOOKS on that shelf
that's a great idea!!
"Max, don't chew on my books!"
"Actually...🤔"
i cackled
I know! That was so funny!
Sometimes seeing such calm and chilling videos really help and that to in current scenario of the world.
Really loved it.
so glad you enjoyed it!

I'm on "declutter mode" too...but I can't leave the house to donate the things I don't want anymore so...it's a bit of a mess xD
This was so satisfying to watch, I love book unhauls!
I literally got rid of like 200 books not too long ago because I realized that I still remembered the stories but I’d never read them again... so I got rid of them! Everyone's losing the plot in Australia too but let's be positive and focus on the positives gang! Great video, Katie! ❤
LJ Alderson 🤍🤍
I recently did the same as you and i came to the conclusion that I have the memories of the book but I didn't need the physical book to go with it.
Replica i'm currently reading and I like it so far. I recommend reading one chapter of lyra then one chapter of gemma and keeping switching every time you read a chapter. It makes it interesting so far to me. Falling Kingdoms I really like the first book [gave it 4/5 stars]
Great video! As someone who also has a chronic illness I hope you’re safe it’s crazy out there.
Thank you - you too! Stay safe!
Time for a Read-a-thon. Stack up the TBR books and read those before anything else lol
Seeing this video in my feed made my day, I love unhauls so much! I think it's the best feeling to go through your books and keep only those you really want to own :- ) You did a great job! :- )

This video came at a perfect time 🥰 I am in the middle of unhauling too
The joys of being a reader and a cat parent. My book marks get chewed as do my books (owned and library)
This is such a calming video!
WAtching this is cathartic! I love unhauling and organizing and need to do the same to my shelves.
Curious on what stuff put you off nevernight aside from the footnotes that bug a lot of people
The book itself I enjoyed! The author has just made some less than flattering comments towards reviewers/fans online that have kind of put me off supporting him.

louisity shipping in the U.S. is paid by weight, so the more something weighs the more expensive it is
I LOVED Strange the Dreamer! The 2nd book went in a different direction than I thought it would, but it was still good. I read Wrath of the Dawn when it came out due to book tube hype and did not like it.
I like audio books for when I'm falling asleep. I'll get distracted and not listen otherwise

Why are all the books backwards?

I love the cat chaos 😂 too cute
literally my life 24/7
As you wish is genuinely such a good book I didn’t think I would like it either but I did
Maybe I’m just really obsessed with Supernatural, but I’m wondering why you named your cat Dean...is it after Dean Winchester? By the way, they are both adorable. 🥰
Faith Lane Author I do love Supernatural, but he actually already had the name when I adopted him and I thought it was cute so I left it haha
The Wrath and the Dawn was so good!
I just read Falling Kingdoms and I loved it! I recommend the audiobook!

Oh my god I just made my pile and tell me why I have the entire marked series because I hate it that much
The Name of the Star is not set in 1888 and is mostly set in London. It is okay. I wouldn't keep it in a tbr pile.
i was totally unbothered until you said you had problems with Jay kristoff?
I loved All Our Yesterday's by Cristin terrill! It was my first book by her and was delightfully surprised! It was intriguing.
All those books where I think I missed the window of enjoyment? I read them all in the same month. I tend to DNF them all, but at the end of the month, I have like 12 fewer books on my shelf and I feel good because I at least gave them a chance. 😅
So satisfying! I want to do this too.
I feel like I should do this 😂 but so much effort
Damn I've been wanting that cover version of the wake trilogy, but shipping to canada is expensive.
Were the kitties a big help?
they're always helpful
New here... does any one know why all of her books r in the shelves backwards?
Nvm she just said “theres not a reason i just like the way it looks “
I keep the books I might want to read again or that I want to reference to later =)
All our yesterdays is one of my favourite books definitely recommend

oh yeah they're not organized whatsoever. I recently moved so I just threw them all on the shelves randomly
Why did you get rid of the wake trilogy? I loved them when I first read them but I need to re-read them. But still I’m interested why you decided to part with them.
Memories with a book def keep
I would recommend you to get to The Wrath and the Dawn! I really really really really really liked it
You should read these broken stars
