It’s an interesting case-one man, seemingly an all-around amazing guy, relapses and makes the worst mistake of his life, permanently altering the lives of 2 strangers for the worse. If we did not know those 2 people to be dealing meth, would 18 months seem long enough? Not me, if it were me or someone I love…the 2 people whose lives were harmed happened to make their living by supporting addiction and its cycle of loss and death in society that causes immeasurable harm…the guy who was under the influence of addiction, was the perpetrator of a terrible act, and the consequences fell on this drug lord, who felt so wronged

Rage and revenge can tear a person apart. Taking justice on your own can have consequences. Ray had a debt to pay, and didn’t. The two convicts got what they deserved, they too took revenge on each other for a debt that was owed. No one wins.. what a tragic crime.

    • @SeattleRaindrop206

“Ray had a debt to pay and didn’t?” They didn’t say that. I believe they said he was behind on payments?
Food for thought… If it was $215,000 for example, or whatever it was, it could take 17+ years of paying $1000/month which most people cannot afford.
They could’ve garnished his wages, maybe they were (it wasn’t mentioned here), but if one literally cannot afford it, what do they do… bring back debtors prisons? Is that where Ray belonged?

As an atheist who has been clean and sober for 15 years, 12 step programs are not for everyone. They are proven statistically to be ineffective, however, if you find them to be helpful then by all means utilize them. That being said, as someone who has gotten and maintained cleanliness and sobriety despite realizing that 12 step programs were not for me, I highly recommend getting a doctor that is an addiction specialist, or at the very least has experience with treating addiction. Then, receive a referral from them to a trauma therapist (nearly all addicts have a ton of trauma). So many people believe that their problems are a symptom of their addiction, when in actuality, their addiction is a symptom of their deep trauma. If anyone who reads this is struggling, please know that getting better absolutely IS possible and does not require any religious beliefs if religion is not for you. When I was using I truly thought that I would never recover and that my days were numbered. Here I am, 15 years later, with a life that I never thought was possible. You will need to make many sacrifices in order to recover. The biggest one for many people is no longer associating with the friends that you used with. Trust and believe, if they are truly your friends and want what is best for you they will allow you to let them go for your own wellbeing. I also do not recommend associating with anyone who is in recovery and has less than 2 years clean, as that can lead to a joint relapse. I hope that my words may help someone who is in the position that I used to be in. It is possible, it can be done. Stay strong and remember that anyone who comes for your sobriety is essentially wishing death on you. Addiction, if left untreated, is a dang near death sentence. You deserve to live.❤
