Did you see what Alonso added? He’s still salty (rightly so) about Russell losing his car 30 meters behind him in Australia and crashing into the wall, and Alonso getting a penalty. He reckons if the nationalities were reversed, the outcome would be different. Love it.
To me that incident is one that really started to show that George isn’t above misrepresenting facts to the stewards. He conveniently didn’t talk about how he was looking at his steering wheel.

Y'all are awesome, but this is a big miss. Max is not really frustrated with the grid penalty; he's mad that George went so hard in front of the stewards. His point is/was that most drivers don't go after each other specifically in yhe stewards toom and that standard was broken by George. That is what he's mad about. George tried to claim that Max was cursing at the stewards. But, the reports are that Max never did that. George has been contradictrd several times now.

There is no rule where 1 place grid penalty is recommended, it was completely made up to please Princess George. So you're WAY off the mark about using the rule book. 2. It's not just that Russell pushed for a penalty. He created that situation himself. AND the fact that he acted like it's no big deal in front of the media and then went to stewards and pushed for it. It's the two-facedness that prompted Max to make that comment. He wouldn't have made that comment if Russell had expressed the same opinion both in public and in private. That's exactly the point, they mention a three page grid penalty for impeding a driver on a fast lap. Both drivers were on a build lap where, by definition, you can't impede someone. I find it unbelievable how Max is being made out to be the bad guy. With that said “nuances” don’t separate the gap of being signed to a F1 team at 16 being the youngest race winner of all time in your first race with your new team, going toe to toe with the greatest of all time and (controversially) coming out on top, winning 21 races (10straight) in one season or having 4wdc. Leclerc, Norris, Russell, and even Piastri are special special talents but it’s not “nuance” that separates any of them from Verstappen.
This points out to a bigger issue in F1 : everybody expects the stewarts to be morons. Therefore when they make a dumb call based on a drivers word its the drivers fault, not the stewarts, becauce they're incompetent anyway. In a football match if a player said that he should be given a penalty even though nothing happened and the referee agreed everyone would blame the referee because he is suppose to know better.

Let's keep in mind that this is not the first time Max has been upset about the stewards' decision. But it is the first time Max has be miffed with a driver to this extent. This makes me think that maybe, Max is saying some degree of truth.
Yes, previously, Max would say stuff about not agreeing with the stewards (to various degrees), but almost never about the driver. At most, he would say "I don't know what he was thinking", or smth like that. This is completely different.

He spoke out against the manner in which Russell went in, basically creating a whole theater to convince the stewards to take his side. Max is a lot of things, dangerous is definitely one of them at times, but he is not one to kiss up to the stewards, and regardless of whether you think Russell's behaviour belongs to a strategic genius or to a hypocritic crybaby, Max has the right to have an opinion on that, especially if he doesn't kiss up to the stewards in that same way.

I don't think Verstappen would ever seriously consider a move to Mercedes. For one thing, they couldn't afford him and secondly, Max is a winner and he has said on numerous occasions that he could never be in the midfield in an uncompetitive car, driving around in circles with no hope of winning. Mercedes are a far cry from where they used to be competitively and could not guarantee a fast car. Look what happened to Hamilton. From King status to no status. They have lost something. Sure, glimpses of their former glory days with a win here and there, but very inconsistent.

It's not quite the same, it's a British phrase to say "Put your head through a wall", but George quoted Max as saying "Put you on your head, in the Wall". Which are phrases used in online racing.

Thank you for mentioning the fact that all of the quotes going around are hearsay. The amount of people I’ve seen running with George’s Max quote about putting him in the wall as fact now, and the response towards Max because of it has been insane to me. Even when his response was, “I didn’t say it like that,” the fans have said “see, he did say it!!!” and this is leading to people literally calling him to be penalised or have legal action against him, like no joke. 😭 This entire debacle is hearsay, right from Max’s first accusation that George acted the way he did in the stewards room (max didn’t actually quote him, but we still weren’t there so we have no idea what way George did or didn’t act). Everything, George’s quotes, Crofty’s quote about there not having been swearing in the steward’s room, Ted’s quote about “you and your FIA friends…”, etc…. Not a single one can be confirmed as true until video gets released (and honestly, I’m not sure we can even trust DtS considering how they’ll probably edit whatever they did capture lol). People will just believe whichever quotes support the driver they like/give them an excuse to hate the driver they don’t, and meanwhile there’s a chance none of us know even close to the full story and never will. Nobody can really know who is in the right between Verstappen and Russel, but considering the specific thing Verstappen is calling him out for (being 2 faced and backstabby) while Russel is being vague about what went on with the stewards that lends more credibility towards Verstappen for me.
I think Max is right in this specific case, but he is focusing on specific points to exaggerate it and was wrong for bringing it to the media, and George is right overall about Max being a bully, aggressive, and unprofessional.

Rusell says he won't let Max pass just because he's Max -> proceeds to let Max pass him before the first corner of the first lap in Qatar. Russell says he would've won the championship if he was in the McLaren -> proceeds to lose P2 to Lando before the first corner of the first lap in Qatar. One must imagine Lando smiling under his helmet while George lost P2 before turn 1 after all that talk about how he would've won the title in the McLaren. Says he won't let Max pass like the others have and will stand up to him -> has seemingly forgotten the battles between Max and Lewis, Max and Charles. He downplays the efforts of other drivers like Lewis and Charles to make himself seem like the only who doesn't let Max pass. Calls Max violent -> hits Bottas on his helmet while still on an active track when Bottas hadn't even gotten out of his car, and after an incident that was his own fault. At least the Max vs. Ocon incident was Ocon's fault and Max confronted him in the FIA garage, and not on track while the driver was still in the car after a huge crash. Russell is such a hypocrite and liar. George "he just fully turned into me" Russell is never at fault; it's always Max's fault, Bottas's fault, Alonso's fault, etc. He has hamassed his car into the barrier multiple times, sometimes even when not under pressure. If (strong if) Max has said what George claims, then I think it is a step too far. I’m all for trash talk and making sport more entertaining, but F1 is a sport where you can literally kill a competitor by being reckless, and nobody should feel as thought there’s someone on the grid who might intentionally cause a potentially life threatening collision

Personally I feel like George is in the wrong here. Its a fine line between doing everything you can to be the best and being out of control aggressive, but one thing thats for sure is that its all part of racecraft when you do it on the track. It's not quite the same, it's a British phrase to say "Put your head through a wall", but George quoted Max as saying "Put you on your head, in the Wall". Which are phrases used in online racing.
no one rates George as much as George himself, it's those moments right after a race or quali when the top 3 drivers are taking of their helmets, getting a drink and so on and in the rare occasion George is one of those 3, he's always patting the other drivers on their back in a way that says: yeah, you were great but did you see what a monumental perfomance I just gave, cracks me up every time

Thank you for mentioning the fact that all of the quotes going around are hearsay. The amount of people I’ve seen running with George’s Max quote about putting him in the wall as fact now, and the response towards Max because of it has been insane to me. Even when his response was, “I didn’t say it like that,” the fans have said “see, he did say it!!!” and this is leading to people literally calling him to be penalised or have legal action against him, like no joke. 😭
This entire debacle is hearsay, right from Max’s first accusation that George acted the way he did in the stewards room (max didn’t actually quote him, but we still weren’t there so we have no idea what way George did or didn’t act). Everything, George’s quotes, Crofty’s quote about there not having been swearing in the steward’s room, Ted’s quote about “you and your FIA friends…”, etc…. Not a single one can be confirmed as true until video gets released (and honestly, I’m not sure we can even trust DtS considering how they’ll probably edit whatever they did capture lol). People will just believe whichever quotes support the driver they like/give them an excuse to hate the driver they don’t, and meanwhile there’s a chance none of us know even close to the full story and never will. It’s all so silly.

Nobody can really know who is in the right between Verstappen and Russel, but considering the specific thing Verstappen is calling him out for (being 2 faced and backstabby) while Russel is being vague about what went on with the stewards that lends more credibility towards Verstappen for me.
I think Max is right in this specific case, but he is focusing on specific points to exaggerate it and was wrong for bringing it to the media, and George is right overall about Max being a bully, aggressive, and unprofessional.
Yeah, that was my feeling too. Russell didn't really dispute anything Max said, but instead got defensive and talked about standing up to the "bully", etc. Meanwhile I think Crofty said during FP1 that they asked someone who was in room if Max cursed during the stewards meeting, and they said no, so that kinda pokes a hole in George's story.

Personally I feel like George is in the wrong here. Its a fine line between doing everything you can to be the best and being out of control aggressive, but one thing thats for sure is that its all part of racecraft when you do it on the track. Pushing hard for a fellow driver to get a penalty, especially in the stewards room, and double especially in a situation that is not at all that serious, is just childish and I completely understand why Max is so pissed off about his change in personalities in public and behind closed doors.

Maybe F1 drivers just need to conduct themselves better and not mouth off about each other all the time.
