    My jacket only started getting a patina after i waxed it with otter wax. The wax picks up dust and other crap, and becomes alot like the pic from HB. Im active outside also that helps. If you are only wearing it to the office and back you wont get a decent patina. I mean, patina is basically dirt. Good luck👍

      Thanks for the comment! I've got my Otter Wax bought and ready to go for the re-waxing! Yeah - I try to wear this anytime I DO go and do outdoorsy stuff, which is sometimes, but mostly "city" wear, so I'm not expecting to look like the picture... and I think most folks are closer to "city" than "outdoors" these days! Thanks again!

    Wax that sucka. I’ve had that same jacket, in a darker brown, for three years. I’ve used Otter Wax in bar form, a hair dryer, and some time. I go heavy on the wax on heated fabric. Hang it for a day, hit it again with a hair dryer in sections, and buff off any excess wax before it cools with something lint free, and cotton. I have done it twice since I got it. Damn near looks like leather.

    Nice video man! I have only had mine about a year, but when I wear it, I wear it all day. So I have a bot more patina. But I agree with you, unless you wear it for 10 years, or work in the jacket... you will never get it to look like the aged version in the ads. I did notice the unlined version definitely develops a patina much faster than the flannel lined.

    Oh about the rewaxing, I've been thinking about mixing in some reuzel pink pomade with the Filson oil wax, because the reuzel smells freakin amazing and the thought of a whole jacket that smells like it is tempting as hell and I figure why not mix in something that smells great as these jackets will pick up odors especially if you're around cigars or camp fires and you don't want to wash them so an essential oil or other type of already infused wax like the reuzel makes sense to me. Girls like the reuzel smell so that doesn't hurt.

    • @rockymtnstyle
      @rockymtnstyle  7 місяців тому

      That's a cool idea! I've got some Ruezel matte styling paste... never smelled it (and I have bad smell) but I'm going to next time I use it! HAH! But yeah - great point about the odors and lack of washing. I'd never considered it.

The darker colors aren't as dressy if you want to look dressy so I think the color you got is more likely to go with any kind of pants and shirts. I pulled the trigger on the Thursday in Olive. Love the jacket. I typically wear XL in jackets and shirts, so I ordered that size. Arm and body length when standing straight were snug, but good length. However, my chest size is a bit too big for the XL and Thursday is recommending XXL. Exchange in process now to see if the bigger size makes it more livable.

If those shoulder seams didn’t sit anywhere near the edge or at the edge of your shoulders like they are now then that would have looked small on you. I’m also 5’8 and weigh 160ish and this video now has got me thinking about sizing down to a small because I wanted the hem a little bit higher and the sleeves shorter. I've got the forest green early this year, and was pleased with the color (a deep dark green), the quality and weight of the jacket, the only thing is still a little nuisance is the length of the sleeves but is just a minor issue. I most say, the patina almost instantly appeared with a couple of times after weared it, I think the dark colors like forest green, charcoal and maybe brown habana are more susceptible to show the kind of "pull up" I see as patina. Overall pretty satisfied with this jacket and thinking in getting one in charcoal in near future.

      Well, I know your comparison vids (flannel shirts and heavyweight tees) were not the most watched. Still, they were very useful. I think branching out into reviewing high end clothing works well. To me it’s important not to veer too far away from “manly” heritage clothing or accessories. Granted, UA-cam is crowded with similar channels but your straightforward and down-to-earth reviews will garner views overtime. I would not stray too much from heritage styles. Huckberry has added a huge number of “foo-foo” stuff to their product offerings over the past year. I think it hurts the exclusivity of thier brands.

    • @rockymtnstyle
      @rockymtnstyle  10 місяців тому

      Thanks for taking the time for this thorough response. I definitely gravitate towards the heritage stuff, I think that's obvious. I think I recall you mentioning the hw tee/flannel thing before, and I appreciate it. They are relatively easy to make from a time perspective so I'll probably keep feathering them in as I get new stuff in. For example, I need to do that Iron Heart flannel soon! :) Just curious, what sort of things do you consider "foo-foo" from HB? I find myself drawn to that sort of stuff sometimes if I'm being honest... especially during spring/summer. Hah !:)

    • @CounterC
      @CounterC 10 місяців тому

      Huckberry now sells scarves, slippers, watches, sandals, and a variety of camping gear and kitchen gadgets. Granted, most of us are office workers who will never see a ranch or farm. Still, heritage clothing creates the feeling of authenticity. I want to buy from a retailer that sells boots instead of slippers and flannel shirts instead of wine coolers or swim trunks. It makes me turn from Huckberry to Freenote Cloth or Taylor & Stitch who seem more authentic because of their more narrow heritage used product line. I also think it keeps management more focused on their core customers and stuff like quality and inventory control

      Ahh I gotcha. Yeah - that makes total sense. They do have a dual-personality it seems, which I never thought of. One one hand, they have in-house Flint & Tinder which has some really cool, made in the US heritage pieces and other stuff. Then, they have Huckberry the growing online retailer selling $600 pizza ovens. I can totally see where you're coming from; for me though, I just try to take it piece by piece and understand that they're basically running 2 companies in one. Funny, too, they have a long-standing partnership with TS it seems where HB offers ALMOST all of the TS line. Thanks for the chat, mate! I'm off to the dentist... yuck.

      Glad you like 'em! As the channel (and my wardrobe) ages there will be a lot more long-term follow ups like this on jackets and boots.
