    I run on the cold side and Ive never found the flannel lined version to be very warm. Layering helps a little. Sounds like an excuse for me to buy another waxed jacket for me. This is an outstanding review by the way.
    I saw someone else say the difference in warmth was minimal but based on the construction of the two jackets that doesn’t make much sense.
    Both jackets are rugged despite the weight difference. I like that the jackets are fashionable but the best part is the ruggedness. I love wearing mine on the on the overgrown trails and just being able to brush off briars and thorns. It’s great jacket to wear on a cool drizzly fall or spring day. Definitely keeps you dry. Mine is I think 3 years old and I’ve added wax a couple times.

      Hey, John! Appreciate the comment and the kind words! I love a good excuse to buy more jackets :) Actually just got this wool-lined in Field Tan to do a comp between a new field tan and a 2yr old field tan (which I have the flannel-lined in).
      Really like how you described your experience with the jackets. I don't disagree with anything you said. How was the rewaxing? I'll be doing that soon, too...

      @@rockymtnstyle re-waxing went ok, I went light with an otter wax bar in the spring and didn’t notice a huge difference so I re-applied this fall and used a hair drier this time rather then just rubbing it in with my fingers. It definitely feels more damp and sticky now. I may have overdone it little in a couple small spots but i think it went pretty well.

      @@rockymtnstyle One thing I'm looking for is waxed jackets with insulated liners. Since I'm almost always wearing them in fall I usually find regular waxed jackets to not be warm enough. I have a Barbour Bedale but it's kind of boxy. Might find a zip-in liner for it.

    I have the flannel lined one and I love it. I recently purchased an older version, found on poshmark, and it is buffalo lined. Love it but even though it is the same size, Large, as my Flannel lined it fits more like a medium. Considering selling it and purchasing the wool lined version. I can't find any info on the buffalo lined version but I assume it is something they discontinued when they came out with the wool lining. Wish the sizing was the same but now its time to find a buyer for it and it pass it to someone else.

      I reached out directly to Flint and Tinder to get info on the jacket I bought. Back in 2017 they sold a sherpa lined version and that is the one I bought second hand. Is the wool lined made roomier than the flannel? If you had the same size in both, would it had fit the same? Thanks!

      @rockymtnstyle  Рік тому +1

      Thanks, Doug! Subbed back. I think they'd be darn near identical if I had the same size. The wool lining doesn't really seem much thicker than the flannel and the measurements listed on the site are pretty spot on, so I'd conclude they'd be the same or close enough to not matter. Hope that helps.

      Thank you, it certainly does! I have the flannel field tan, and I bought it in coal as well. I normally wear XL, I sized up as suggested from multiple sources including you. Unfortunately there is a tear in the field tan, they are offering to replace it, and I’m considering having them replace it with the wool in Charcoal, looks lighter than the Coal, and paying a little extra. I think I’m going to do it so I have each for any weather.

      Since I tend to run hot most of the time, I'd go with the flannel-lined. I'd really only wear the wool-lined when its under 30 degrees F. And with that said, if I could go back and do it again I'd get the darker brown color instead of Field Tan.

    I understand the wool-lined has a slightly more roomy cut. Is there a noticable difference?
    I tried out a Large in the flannel lined and with my athletic/somewhat muscular body type it seemed just a tad restrictive in the arms and the way it draped over my traps was a little odd. When I tried the XL is was just too big.

    • @rockymtnstyle
      @rockymtnstyle  Рік тому

      Hey man! In my opinion, no, I don't think the wool-lined is really that much bigger or more generously cut. If you have big shoulders/traps makes sense that it might be a little snug, I have also found the shoulders to be a bit restrictive. The wool-lined has the poly-lined sleeves, so your arm will be able to move around more easily inside the sleeve while wearing, so that could help give the illusion of a looser fit perhaps. Hope that helps a little bit!

    • @rockymtnstyle
      @rockymtnstyle  Рік тому +1

      Hi, Pol! Thanks for the kind words. I think it would be fine at 40-50. If it was close to 50 id probably just make sure I didn't have anything too warm underneath the jacket. 👍

      @@rockymtnstyle thanks for your answer! I'll probably wear it with a simple t-shirt, as I usually am not too chilly.
      It is simply that I want to make the most out of a jacket, and not overlap with my coton lined suede jacket that I love to wear during spring/summer nights, but isn't enough in colder autumn and winter weather.
      For actual hardcore cold weather below 0F I just wear a down puffer jacket.

    Hi, i just received my wool lined trucker jacket. I weight about 225 at 6 feet tall. I ordered an XL. Trying it on for the 1st time it was snug around the lower chest stomach area. I'm relatively big all around not a big gut at all. Arms are fine, shoulders not bad although a little tight when I cross my arms.
    Question, will this jacket break in and lossen up to a point i could wear a hoodie underneath and still button?
    I dont believe i could wear a hoodie with this size.
    Thanks

    • @rockymtnstyle
      @rockymtnstyle  10 місяців тому +1

      Hey, and thanks for the question. Based on the way it sounds, which is that the jacket is pretty much a little snug all over (except maybe the arms), I think the best you can hope for is that it will STILL be a little snug all around while wearing a hoodie. It will loosen up a bit, but not a significant amount. So my advice would be to put on the hoodie you want to wear under it right now, wear the jacket around for a few hours and see how it feels. If it feels "bad" I'd get the next size up. But if it feels "reasonable" then even something like 1/8 inch of stretch would make it feel much better and you may be able to get that out of it. Hope that helps. One other thing... you could get a thinner hoodie. The Normal Brand makes a really thin hoodie called the "Puremeso Essential Hoodie" that is really thin but still somehow warm. I have two (black and taupe). If you want to try that avenue you can check it out: sldr.page.link/Z918
