The jacket was fairly new when I got it, the wrinkles come out with a bit of wear. I feel like you're not meant to iron waxed canvas? Actually you could try, what's the worst that could happen. A really waxy iron, I guess
Super useful comparison, thanks! I'd been tossing up between Huckberry and Thursday, but as a shorter guy on who jackets become long by default, Huckberry vs Filson sounds like it might be the way to go
I recently ordered Thursday Boot Co.'s leather jacket (It's Anejo Racer Jacket) It's been only a week wearing the jacket (I work in an office in Chicago, IL and wear the jacket on my commute). The leather is already starting to peel and getting flaky a bit and it is concerning me. It's made with lambskin (at least they claim so). Is this normal? How is your Thursday jacket holding up for you?
Worth noting on price that if you’re willing to wait you can get the Huckberry jacket on sale for cheaper than the Thursday and the sales are pretty consistent Great vid 👍
Shame the Huckberry light jacket only comes in 2 colours. Some of us sweat a river just going around the corner to get the milk.... And that's in Sydney winter

Got mine a month or so ago and it’s insane how good the durability is, Jacob is excellent at his craft and customer service. I requested a leather collar with leather I sent in from horween and he slapped that sucker on there. I asked him to lengthen the sleeves too, he did that at no extra charge. Totally worth that price!
I cut out a line saying it's typically paraffin or oil finish wax but I thought it was spending too much time on the veganism. But I think it's pretty uncommon to use beeswax?
The Thursday one just doesn't look nice to me at all, sorry. Both Huckberry and FIlson's are classic patterns. That "wetter" looking canvas on the Thursday works in e.g., Barbour jackets with more complicated patterns, but looks weird when it gets all wrinkly on that kind of minimalist, featureless pattern. It also fits in a weird baggy way, the buttons look cheap...I hate to say it but it definitely is the least attractive of the three and very much looks like a boot company trying to make a jacket without the years of refinement/expertise it takes to make a good pattern.
Hey man I'm just glad this helped you decide! I kinda wish my Huckberry was freshly waxed so people could see how it looks new, but they def use a drier wax
@@Stridewise I like both and like the drier wax when the canvas has thicker yarns and a rougher surface, and the wetter wax look with a smoother canvas. It just doesn't work as well for a trucker for me, and something about Thursday's pattern just seems off. By the way I totally feel you on the short arms club thing. I actually got a Wills and had them shorten the sleeves and it was the best decision I ever made.
I have a Flint and Tinder flannel lined jacket, and I do like it, but I have two Longshore waxed canvas jackets from Taylor Stitch, which prefer. Mainly because of longer styling and their clothes in general just fit me better.

Have the huckberry and saw they had a new wool lined one. Had some FOMO on that. Glad to hear the difference is marginal.
Pack full of information. You simply make the best clothing videos.
Super useful comparison, thanks! I'd been tossing up between Huckberry and Thursday, but as a shorter guy on who jackets become long by default, Huckberry vs Filson sounds like it might be the way to go
This is the kind of comment that makes my day, really glad this helped Oliver
@@Stridewise really glad to hear it! It's cool to see that the longer cut is actually something being sought out deliberately
I need a jacket with adjustable cuff... just saying
I recently ordered Thursday Boot Co.'s leather jacket (It's Anejo Racer Jacket)
It's been only a week wearing the jacket (I work in an office in Chicago, IL and wear the jacket on my commute).
The leather is already starting to peel and getting flaky a bit and it is concerning me. It's made with lambskin (at least they claim so).
Is this normal? How is your Thursday jacket holding up for you?
yikes dude, my jacket is holdilng up great. i'd get in touch with thursday they're pretty good at handling these issues
@@Stridewise Thanks for answering!
I read Thursday's return policy, and hope they'll take this seriously.
Love what you do! Keep up great work!
I tried on the Filson, and I hated how the sleeves fit. It's a short jacket which I liked but hated the bulky sleeves
Great video. Can I ask a qts.
I'm 5'10" average build. Do you think size medium fits me best for the Thursday version?
hmmm. i'm 6 feet and a little broad and Large is for me. Soo, yeah I think if you're not super swole the medium would work
Worth noting on price that if you’re willing to wait you can get the Huckberry jacket on sale for cheaper than the Thursday and the sales are pretty consistent
Great vid 👍
Vegan...OK, but is it a democrat?
With the long torso it is. It's not a classic fit.
this was a good review. very useful. Thanks.
Shame the Huckberry light jacket only comes in 2 colours. Some of us sweat a river just going around the corner to get the milk.... And that's in Sydney winter
huckberry.com/store/flint-and-tinder/category/p/81969-unlined-waxed-trucker it's in three now! tbh I prefer the Bighorn jacket for lightweight fare but I don't think it sold that well
Tin Duck
Got mine a month or so ago and it’s insane how good the durability is, Jacob is excellent at his craft and customer service. I requested a leather collar with leather I sent in from horween and he slapped that sucker on there. I asked him to lengthen the sleeves too, he did that at no extra charge. Totally worth that price!
definitely need to consider iron and resin in your comparison- great stuff from that company as well
Thank you . I didn’t know which one to buy but I’m after watching your video I’m settling on the Thursday jacket.
Glad I could help Matthew!
Filson..I have this jacket..its the best
You have ( or should) condition your leather jacket.
You will have to re-wax your canvas jacket
Unless you don't much care for the water resistance. I prefer the breathability of unwaxed tbh
I'll stick to Barbour
Yeah I've got a best waxed jackets coming out eventually that has US styles like these, british ones like Barbour, and one offs like RGT
@@Stridewiseawesome, would love to see more RgT!
I'm not sure they're vegan unless you can be sure the wax doesn't contain animal products like beeswax.
I cut out a line saying it's typically paraffin or oil finish wax but I thought it was spending too much time on the veganism. But I think it's pretty uncommon to use beeswax?
Sorry the best jacket with the best history is the Belstaff Trailmaster. I live in mine from autumn to late spring.
Iconic super cool British biker jacket.
Seen your video and ended up going with a Thursday Charcoal one, love it!
My Barbours are all I’ll ever need.
dont buy anything from thursday
I adore my Rogue Territory (wool lined) and Freenote (alpaca lined) waxed jackets.
they get call outs in the NEXT waxed jacket video haha
You should try the Relwen, suited for the warmer states.
What's your height and weight Steve?
@Clubber_Lang
About 5'8", 130lbs. The size 36 in all of their clothes have fit me very well (I have a closet full 😄), with the exception of the Golden Bear Moto jacket, which I exchanged for a 38.
Will you do a video on the P&CO instrument overland jacket? It just came out. It’s a 10oz waxed canvas jacket. The company is based in the UK I believe. I ordered one because I thought it looked really good had to get it. Hope you look into it! Great video as always!
i have a 'best waxed jackets' video coming out and i mentioned them! i haven't handled it but for the price, people should prob know about them.
@@Stridewise Sickk, I’ll be sure to watch it. Maybe one day you can do a review video of the jacket with all the specs.
Got my Ship John Wills on now. It's going to last a pretty darn long time.
A great jacket but I have trouble recommending something with such a middle finger of a wait time haha did you see our video on it? ua-cam.com/video/3u4knc8dg28/v-deo.html
